Mujtahida:
I don't support SA but it's not because of the issue of xenophobia oo. Cos I firmly believe every nation has the right to protect their borders.

The immigrant wants to get in, the natives wants to protect their country from unrestrained migration. Every side doing what conduces to their self interest.

If it were a white country, we'd label them racist but since we cannot hurl that invective against the Mzanzis, we call them Xenophobes.

I try to look at issues beyond the popular narrative.

The international argument is weighed against the SA people but does anyone care about their own fears and concerns?

Is the sentiment to protect one's country, culture, history and boundaries not common throughout the world?

Even in Nigeria here despite our shared nationality, don't we see nativist marking the boundaries which define the limits of people who are not natives? Is this not what is behind the crisis in the Plateau? Do we let people of other ethnicities who are not natives of our various states to hold elective positions? No!

But if our people are denied the same opportunity abroad, we start crying racism. It's rank hypocrisy.

Africa helped them during apartheid but to me, that help was not conditional or predicated on their allowing all Africans come unrestrained to their country.

The bottom line is that we have to be fair in looking at this issue. To cast SA people as devils without at least understanding their grouse is unfair. I say this and the same time I abhor the violence that accompanies their objections to the presence and influx of migrants.

The whole world does not belong to everyone indiscriminately. There are borders and boundaries. People have a right to their space.
D law, I apologize for tagging you with my response, I don forget say na one of your main crusades be dis.

Meanwhile make we enjoy world cup o, I really expect a lot from CIV. Morocco we're dumb to fire their coach just because of Brahim Diaz's folly and somehow they have used backdoor to "win" it.

If FIFA doesn’t try as much as possible to keep the game apart from politics and state affairs the risk of having another parallel football body will increase.

These people are just underrating that Fernandez. Someone that's so calm with the ball on his feet, very good aerially and hardly make mistakes. Fernandez might ends up playing for a bigger club before even Bassey
Nobody is underrating Fernandez,
That some argued in favor of Ajayi starting ahead of him for now doesn't mean they underrate him.

One of my Zimbabwean friend who had university in Capetown was so glad they lost. We actually loved them, we so much love Mandela but how have they repaid other Africans? With xenophobia, and they expect us to support them??
they front with chasing away "illegals" but if i have learnt anything from the west, these actions basically means all foreigners. Foreigners are the low hanging fruit in every society. Their faults gets highlighted and their good part does not make the news so often. They are also easy to blame when things go bad since you can easily chase them out of your country. The good news is that it is a wave. Humans are migratory in nature. They will migrate, the residents will complain, fight erupts, they leave and they come back again. Its a cycle of nature.

Waste of an hate watch. Their performance was so pathetic i started feeling pity for them. People will blame broos for their approach in the match but i think he adopted that approach because he knew their quality in relation to the opponents and that a full on attack will only open them up to more goals to be conceded. It was when they couldn't beat a finidi led super eagles and they took us to that cassava farm for the wcq return leg to force a draw i knew they weren't sh#t.

This is the problem with a Black man. He is always trying to create a shortcut through affirmative actions that ends up producing mediocrity and outright disastrous results. This South African team is a disgrace to African football and CAF. Other confederations set up their World Cup qualification format in ways that the best teams from that confederation qualify for the World Cup, but CAF sets theirs in a way that luck of the draw plays a major part. This South African team is a disgrace, and they only qualified because of the stupid set of criminals we have in the NFF. They qualified because of the unmotivated Nigerian team with bad coaching. A weak group, and because of them playing 90 per cent of the games at home against minnows. This shit is really irritating. Some of my friends who are seeing this South African team are completely lost for words on how poor they are and how they managed to finish above Nigeria. This shit is really irritating. This South African team, along with the 2014 Saudi Arabian team, are two of the worst sides I have seen at the World Cup in my lifetime.
Wetin person no go read for this thread. huh

CAF qualification is the most fair to big teams. League qualification format always favours the best teams more than a knockout. Stop saying nonsense.

🚨 FIFA statement on Thomas Partey being left out of Canada.

“FIFA can confirm that player Thomas Partey will be unable to travel from Ghana's Team Base Camp in Boston, USA, to Canada for their first match against Panama on Wednesday, 17 June, as his visa application has been refused by the Canadian government.

"FIFA is not involved in the immigration processes of host countries, including the adjudication of visas. As with previous FIFA events, the host government ultimately determines who receives a visa and is admitted into the country."

No as if anyone should be forced to support African teams because we are black people. I'm supporting Portugal to beat any team they jam including all African teams.

But I just wanna say this, people hatewatching African teams for no reason, are incredibly stewpeed and this goes beyond football. House ninja behaviour.

NB: SA and Morocco I understand. Not talking about them.

This World Cup sef.

A player being denied entry? C'mon!

Not a WC historian but has this ever happened?

This pandora box they are opening with all this entry denials.

What stops a player in future tournaments being denied entry by their host country because they don't like his politics?

This place na legends of soccer/super eagles fans full am o
The U17 of 1987 made me fall in love with football. No light but I remember following my older cousins to watch the final against Russia which we outplayed Russia but unfortunately lost via penalties. Lemy Isah, Tony Emedofu, Philip Osondu, Nduka Ugbade, Dimeji Lawal still come to my mind. Then the daylight robbery of 88 afcon, 89 Daman miracle amd eventual heartbreak to Luis Figo's U21, 1989 u17 penalty loss to Saudi (Victor ikpeba, Godwin Opara etc), 1992 afcon SF loss to Ghana until 1993 when Kanu, Oruma, Babayaro gave me joy as a Nigerian fan and then 94 etc.

USA and Canada are really embarrassing themselves in this world cup.

How can you deny a player based on allegations alone?

A player cleared by his country to represent them... They should go to hell jare
