Freed Victim Claims Kwara Traditional Ruler Died In Bandits Captivity Despite ₦21million Ransom Payment

A Kwara resident recently released by bandits has claimed that the traditional ruler of Olayinka community in Ifelodun Local Government Area has reportedly died in captivity despite the payment of a substantial ransom by his community.

According to the source, the monarch was abducted approximately one month ago by suspected kidnappers who later opened negotiations with members of the community.

The kidnappers reportedly demanded and received a ransom package consisting of ₦21 million in cash, two new motorcycles, and one jerrycan of petrol as conditions for the ruler's release.

"The traditional ruler of Olayinka in Ifelodun Local Government Area was killed by his abductors despite the ransom payment made by the community," the source told SaharaReporters.

According to information relayed by the victim who was recently freed by the kidnappers in Sagbe, Kwara State, the monarch had already died while in captivity.

The source said the revelation came as a shock to members of the Olayinka community, who had hoped that the ransom payment would secure the monarch's freedom.

"The kidnappers collected ₦21 million, two new motorcycles and a jerrycan of petrol from the community. Despite all efforts made to secure his release, a person who was recently released by the abductors in Sagbe disclosed that the monarch had died in captivity," the source said.

The development has reportedly thrown the Olayinka community into mourning, with residents devastated that the ransom payment failed to secure the monarch's return alive.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies in Kwara State had yet to issue an official statement regarding the coordinated attacks on the reported death of the traditional ruler.

However, residents have continued to call on authorities to intensify security operations across the area amid growing concerns over the worsening insecurity in parts of the state.

Wow, I remember this incident.

The kidnappers initially opened communication and demanded a ₦400 million ransom (approximately $300,000) for the monarch's release.

This country keeps going from frying pan to fire.

R.I P to the late monarch and the late Janet Dairo.

Is this the new normal in Nigeria? One of my state's guy who's staying in the US once said that when he was little he use to hear pastors preach about heaven and hell and that when he relocated to the US he realized Nigeria was the hell pastors use to preach about while the current country he stays in is that heaven. Nigeria is a failed state ruled by dullards.

The sponsor of Otogẹẹ protest and his accomplice Lai Muhammed will receive their rewards in this life and in the life beyond. My concern is the level of gullibility of our people in this country. They're so shallow-minded. Someone said you should protest against Saraki, the family that had been upholding peace and harmony in kwara for ages, just to achieve his selfish political ambition and you obeyed him after sharing 2k with you with the otogee vest and cap.

Saraki, despite not being the governor of the state had always employed and paid vigilantes who used to secure the towns and villages in the state. The otogee sponsor connived with the then federal government and Lai Muhammad to rope in the Saraki vigilantes in the offa bank robbery. You personally fought this man , all because he didn't allow you have your way in appointing a puppet that you supported as the senate president.
This same saraki stopped a lot of nonsense and blocked a lot of loopholes including the needless borrowing with great reforms and Nigeria recorded the best GDP in many years in 2019 and we retained our position as the largest economy in Africa. Today, we're 5th. After tinubu prevailed over saraki and succeeded in bringing in the puppet as senate president who was approving everything brought to him, our GDP plummeted and Nigeria went back to status quo in GDP. Who are those bearing the brunts of the foolishness in kwara and Nigeria by extention by supporting this man now, tinubu or you people?

Many of my friends here in Lagos couldn't go home for the recent Ileya over insecurity. Is that a life? Tinubu has apparently abandoned them to their fate after achieving his goal in kwara. Im so happy the way Saraki is keeping quiet. Gullibility is a disease, which only the gullible minds can cure themselves.

They are trying to encircle the south east,
Then if they capture the south west
Then south south would not be a threat to dem,
As for now, their major problem is the south east

our eastern brothers, west has been taken over and done.what they want is to take over nigeria in a calculated manner. lets work together and seal up our territories. they have already entered edo. from this abudu/ogan forest, agbor isn't safe. then from there links mighty forest that bypasses agbor, to enter abavo/umutu/abraka, and then, benin through sokponba zone. but me, as a delta man, na bloody fight ego be with bandits. na bullet for bullet.

If kwara people are serious, they would comb those forests and slay those terrorists. They are still hoping on the government that doesn't care about them. If they don't take a cue from how hunters and local vigilantes in other parts of the southwest are successfully dislodging those terrorists, they would continue paying ransom till the state is swallowed whole

Tinubu would not mind being president to the sands and the rubbles that would remain if Nigeria burnt down, just to do second term.

That name Tinubu will be cursed forever in history.
