Kog45:Add Femi Opabumi, even though he didn't get to make it far,but he was called straight from under U17 just like Iheanacho. Once some watch football up to two or three years, they think they know it all and forgot that football have been going on for several decades, they won't consult history before commenting recklessly. That's why some of them can confidently demand that the team that won the unity cup be made our main team immediately forgetting the stakes on the unity cup and competitive games are entirely different. They keep saying that we don't always give the young players a chance yet most of the world cups we have attended, Nigeria team have always been regarded as one of the youngest team. |

oloriooko:You shouldn't have used the word "profoundly", because your take is not profound. You underrate the Super Eagles. If not for our lack of quality coaches. When it comes to modern football, Eric Chelle is very well ahead of Rohr, Peseiro, Eguavoen, and Findi in the understanding of it. I have seen Eric Chelle's philosophy and formations, he is very modern. But his errors and lapses are also there for the noticing. He will improve if he wants to. During the times Super Eagles struggled to string passes together, a whole lot was heaping blames on the players. The narratives purviewed by the sect blaming the players were difficult for me to accept because beside my understanding of some of these players is a knowing that the responsibility of getting the players to play well is completely down to the coach, if the players immediately available struggle to string passes together (maybe due to their technical ability), invite new ones. Eric Chelle was handed the reins and he showed that the problem was not with the players. We are not short of talents in this nation. If you like believe that we do not have the talents, it will not change a glaring fact. Again do not use our players club situations to judge their capacity. Many of these players are first of all dealt with psychologically before their physical input is affected, anyways, they also allowed themselves to be treated that way. Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman are players that refused to be let down, they are real fighters. Kelechi Iheanacho is a highly talented player (a world class potential, you can doubt it if you want, but it is a glaring fact) who chose to play second fiddle for a very long time. His club situation is not a true testament of his potential. |

If all our players were fighting the way Bassey was,we would have dismantled them within 90 minutes, but instead we let them overran us,just like Brazil let them did yesterday. |

A person that believes we are not good enough to disperse Qatar is not a person that needs convincing to change him mind. Those types of beliefs are driven by sentiment, not logic. The fact that Qatar qualified through a separate qualifier beating big countries like UAE, oman, krygistan, North Korea to get to the main tournament is enough for him to believe that we are not worth beating them. Chuks4041:So what kind of teenage profile would you prefer to be invited to the the senior national team? Just any teenager that you think is good should be included in your XI and leave out the experienced ones equally doing well in top leagues . Any teenager that proved himself among the big boys have always been welcomed. |

Hmm D'Law I watched the first 45 minutes Brazil's match last night I begin tackle myself say no be delulu make me predict them to win WC? There was a sequence during the game where Igor Thiago missed a chance to score with a header and immediately the cameraman panned to Kaka, Roberto Carlos, and Ronaldo seated in the stands. Poignant reflection of how the standards have fallen in Brazil. As much as Morocco rattled Brazil I felt the Samba Boys could have nicked it with better finishing no thanks to Raphina and Igor. The Moroccans with a better forward at the level of Osimhen would have won yesterday. Loved how compact their defense was but men the way their midfield stringed passes especially when Buoaddi came on was a joy to watch. Mujtahida: |

They are good but I'm not on the hype train. 2024 AFCON beaten by SA. 2025 AFCON couldn't score a single goal in regulation time against us and Senegal but they are world beaters? Na so people talk after 2022 WC so I will not be surprised if some people begin getting excited again after yesterday's performance. mostob: |

One aspect you have to give Morocco their flowers is the scouting and poaching method they use in luring players with Moroccan roots. This sensation plays for Lille in France and captained the U-21 French team. Now he’s playing for the Morocco national team. We’ve missed a lot of players that could have been poached early to strengthen our squad because of our lackadaisical approach to things. NFF drama, team local coach drama, team you must integrate local npfl players into the main team. Morocco league is way better than our league but there are only two players from their league in the World Cup team. 2 old backup keepers. Why didn’t they travel with more players from their local league? Someone said people are exaggerating by saying Morocco team is ruling African football. They’ve been this good for the past 4-5 years. The only African team to enter World Cup semifinal. Made it to last Afcon final and will still go far in this year’s World Cup. How are they not the best team in Africa? Our super eagles can’t even qualify for an expanded 48 team World Cup. 10 slots and we lost our position to Sad Africa.

Is this how majority of our current squad will end their careers without a world cup appearance? Only Uzoho, awaziem, ndidi and iwobi are the only ones with world cup experience. Iheanacho is an outside mention. Not even simon has a world cup appearance altho that was due to a late injury. A talented but underwhelming and underachieving squad. chrisooblog: |

chrisooblog:it’s not about hype. You watched the quality of football displayed yesterday, you saw how they marshaled the midfield, with quality fast flowing passes. They’ve been good for years. You know how we would hype our team if we were the ones with such a team. 4th place last World Cup and you saw how they started their new World Cup campaign. Watch how Morocco will top their group, Brazil will finish second in that group . |

Mybettingtips:When you have issues like poor facilities, poorly maintained pitches, unpaid wages/match bonuses, players strikes, and many more, it taints our image and makes scouting foreign borns tough. We need to fix our brand to pull these foreign talents! |

chrisooblog:We have to wait to see how Brazil will play after now. Remember Argentina lost their first match in 2022. Morocco don go leave us for back. We are still talking pedigree but we have forgotten that pedigree without sustenance becomes mere history. We find it so hard to plan and follow through with it. This singular trait is responsible for our poor performance. We have talent but we depend too much on luck. Nigeria is that intelligent student who refuses to study. He just believes his intelligence will make him pass exams. But Success is not given a la carte. You have to go after it with vigor and intensity. |

Mujtahida:We keep saying these things and people start getting overly sensitive. Morocco are running things now in football. Countries like Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Benin and Togo to name a few are investing serious money into the development of their age grade teams. Thank God for Eric Chelle. Nigeria would have fallen off the face of the earth. He is grooming a new set of talents that can prosecute for the SE for the next 6-8 years at the very least. Can we trust the likes of Eguavoen, Finidi or people like Peseiro to not just identify these talents but, give them a chance and also unlock their full potential the way Chelle has? |

Turkiye has exciting talents tho. Yildiz, arda guler, cahanoglu, baris yilmaz, okan kokcu. They pack some serious firepower. They are always in lists of potential upsets or dark horses in euros and world cup. charlesemeka85: |

Not even because of their league (although that would be a fair point based on how often they feature in European club competition) but the sprinkling of talent they have available playing in some time top European clubs in Spain, Germany, and Italy. charlesemeka85: |

You make solid points however people will also rate how successful you are with how well you do in your home Confederation. How many AFCON finals heck even Semis have the Moroccans reached in the last 6-7 years? Senegal undeniably have shown their pedigree as the best footballing country in Africa winning 2 AFCONs and reaching 3 finals in 5 years. Argentina before winning the 2022 WC had already done it in South America winning the 2021 Copa America. Spain too before winning the WC in 2010 won the 2008 Euos. You can have a good team full of talented players but if you lack the character of winners it wouldn't guarantee success. Netherlands and Belgium are example of good teams with outstanding players and performances in tournaments but when it mattered most then fumbled and the reason they are not rated in the higher echelons of world and European. That's the lens from which I'm currently assessing the Moroccans. Mybettingtips: |

Thank you. If there is anyone here who should be really hyping this maroc team, it is me. I foresaw their 2022 WC run but even they surprised me who supports them by reaching the semis. The Spain game really was a huge boost ahead of the Portugal game vs Ronaldo and co. I have been a big fan of Moroccan football and followed them closely for years. Most people getting on the hype train today are doing so coz of the 2022 WC run and the fact that they are still a very solid team. A team so solid that they do not need questionable refereeing to do well. And this is why the last afcon was an eyesore. They needed bad refereeing to get past Tanzania and Nigeria especially. Morocco is one team I tip to go farther than other african teams at this WC but Ivory Coast and Senegal also have a fantastic pool of talents and squads to match or even better what Morocco can do at this WC. The Super Eagles today is being rejuvenated quietly yet solidly under Chelle. Even the fans of Nigerian football cant see what is coming under Chelle's reign. The system is getting better.... the personnel pool is expanding, quality is being added and more is on the rise. There is work also going on in the background in terms of scouting that I will not share here for the sake of discretion. See, all what these folks admire in Morocco today, I saw it a long time ago as a keen moroccan football fan and observer and I know the depths of their strength and mentality as a team. Morocco is Africa's number 1 team today and deservedly so. They are solid and their talent pool keeps getting deeper but CIV, Nigeria and Senegal remain teams that can match or even overcome them when the chips are down.... and when refereeing is fair. Morocco still have not won anything for all their strength currently aside the Boardroom decision to strip Senegal of the last afcon title. So let time do its work. Time will tell it all. Let us enjoy the world cup. I still fan Brazil, Morocco and Netherlands at this WC but I know our strengths. chrisooblog: |
