1. Corruption is still an issue in everyday life. Speaks for itself. There is no effort being made to fight corruption in everyday life, not just among the 'elite' 2. Education is still badly funded. Our universites and other government run tertiary institutions, especially those run by the FG are in a bad state. And running on outdated stuff. EVEN the hostels are so awful, litterally awful. 3. Tax to gdp is still low. Despite the tax reforms, tax as a propotion of government revenue is still very very low. As a result, we have to borrow more. And no progress has been made in increasing oil production whatsoever, meaning that we really cannot take full advantage of the current oil boom. 4. No progress in making Nigeria an industrial nation Nigeria needs to industrialize. This has been evident since the 1960's even. We have a very large mass of youth, and industrialization is the only way to get them in full employment. That unemployment is a problem is one of the things fuelling the current security crisis...especially banditry 5. No progress in land reform and modernizing agriculture. Yes, they bought tractors. Problem was, they are doing EXACTLY THE SAME THING MANY PAST ADMINS DID...buy tractors, farmers lend them and use them for tilling, and it works for a few years, until the tractors crash., and money no dey to replace them Also, we need land reform. That;s one of the things fuelling fulani farmer issues. Ruga is a bad idea, but encouranging ranching, especially in the North is better...which leads me to 6. Poor rail transport. I am not expecting railways to cover nigeria in three years, that's impossible. BUT...if tinubu had borrowed say 100 billion dollars to build up rail stock (Buhari was bad , but at least he tried to focus on railways)...we may have been on the way to fix things. Yes, I am not opposed to Lagos-calabar, and even the Badagri-Sokoto road, but I feel that more railways would have allowed cattle to be transported by rail, and not by road. The sad thing is there is no plan (other than to put a rail on the Lag-calabar road, eventually)...on rail (tho..in fairness, government did award a contract for Kano intra-city rail...Kano needs that. Hope we see the same in other cities.) 7. Electricity Tinubu promised electricity or we vote him out. The annoying thing is that he is keeping subsides on power, and not really going after power thieves...honestly the government needs to show more effort. Result is, our power sector is losing money and not attracting investors. Investor would prefer to invest in refinery, where now that subsidy on fuel has gone, guaranteed ROI is there, or in GSM, where there is guaranteed ROI because no subsidy, but not in electricity because no roi because subsidy. Tinubu won't remove subsides on electricity because it means he gets voted out. That.s even a very good reason not to vote him. Good leaders take decisions that benefit the country, not decisions that give them political gain. 8. Security Speaks for itself. Our government is not funding the budget well enough, and security is suffering. Some tinubu fans will say that a budget of 1 billion dollars is enough to secure a country of 230 million people, when it isn't. And state police, is a joke. Yes, i know it is popular, but I cannot imagine states like Zamfara , Borno and even Kogi and Oyo having the money to equip a state police very well. Amotekun in the SW for example ain't doing well because they do not have enoigh equipment to fight the bandits in the forest. No drones, tactical gear, even ATV , etc. 9. Healthcare Again, poorly funded government hospitals, and to make matters worse, government is increasing the number of hosptials without a commensurate increase in budget. Japa is getting worse re medical staff. Nothing is being done 10. Sports. I know a lot of people are laffing at Peter Obi blaming government for our not being at the world cup....the rot started before tinubu came into office...but there was really no attempt to fx the rot. Since tinubu came in, Nigeria has continued to not qualify for youth championships, and continental football tournaments. Let's not even mention other sports which do not get much funding like football...we all saw how Ofili defected for example. Things need to improve My opinion. |

Why do you people like to be dribbling backward all the time Tinubu must go fine but who is the better alternative? Mentioning Atiku or Obi is like deliberately attracting thunder https://www.nairaland.com/8690698/insecurity-tinubu-must-go-tired That confused Obi in particular is what the thread is stylishly about. When Kwankwanso was Kano state governor, he banned alcohol consumption, probably arrested those who are caught. Peter Obi in his own case invested Anambra state money in hero beer, Alcohol consumption encouragement as long as the state is reaping from the investment Potential President and Vice, different ideologies in almost everything . I asked on the other thread if Peter Obi's successors erased all his projects and achievements in Anambra state that Peter Obi himself can't even brag about or use as campaign punch line. On another thread yesterday, I dared one Obidients to provide just one video where Peter Obi was asked about anything related to governance and he answered/responded to the question asked coherently. No record of it, it's over a year I have been asking his supporters but none could provide If not due to chronic laced tribalism of a man, why should anyone be projecting Peter Obi that can't even answer basic questions about governance to be the president of a complicated Nigeria? For Peter Obi to resolve ordinary political party dispute, he hasn't been able to hence moving to different political parties as he likes . Considering the current insecurity situation we have in Nigeria, Obi as a president would have run away |

VictorIfe:True the opposition isn't a healthy one. But let everyone do a protest vote and boycott APC. Don't feed the man-eating crocodile anymore, if you do you could be the next to be devoured. |

Nobody in their right mind would vote for Tinubu a second time. He has failed woefully. Compared to Tinubu's administration, even Buhari's government looks saintly. If you say there's no credible candidate to challenge him, I'd rather we begged the British to come back and continue from where they left off. Our independence came too early. I don't care if they pay themselves with our crude oil ---the average Nigerian has never truly benefited from it anyway. So, it makes little difference to me if foreigners come in, do a good job, and pay themselves with it. Useless politicians! |
