The governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has picked Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, the biological son of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as his running mate.

The young Kwankwaso is the immediate past Commissioner for Youths and Sports.

Spokesperson of Kwankwasiyya, Habibu Saleh Mohammed, confirmed the development in a terse statement on Monday.

“HE Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo unveiled Hon Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as running mate for 2027 Governorship Election,” he said.

The younger Kwankwaso had resigned from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration after the governor parted ways with his father

While quitting government, Mustapha had said the decision was taken “with a heavy heart”, while expressing gratitude to Yusuf for the opportunity to serve the people of Kano State.

He highlighted the experiences and lessons gained during his tenure, thanking the governor for the trust reposed in him.

“As I resign, I pray that the youth of Kano State will continue to receive the attention and support they deserve,” Mustapha said.

“I hope for the best for our sports development programs and initiatives, and I am confident that they will flourish in the years to come.”

Oh dear, but we were told NDC was a holier-than-thou party that would usher in a new Nigeria.

So this is their version of a new Nigeria.

Mr Obi's supporters will see nothing wrong in this.

But imagine if Mr Tinubu's son is named as deputy Governor candidate of Lagos State. Mr Obi would lecture us about 'State capture', and his followers would go into a morbid mental combustion crying to the United Nations, FIFA, UNESCO etc

one thing i know is that atiku will never rule nigeria and taking amechi as running mate will not give him up to 20,000 votes from the whole of east and south put together. all 11 are obi at leats

Normal feudal moves of an autocracy.
And all others that were there before him should retire like senior military personnel when their junior is made to head because of his tribal alignment.

The simple reason why leaders cannot gain the real support of the citizens, the genuine solidarity amongst the polity, amongst supposed colleagues.

They say leadership is all about sacrifice. Not here.
They cannot make the sacrifice of self, ignore the crass privileges of office. No. They have WORKED for success so they must take it all. For them, their families and friends. Whatever crumbs are left can be shared by the faithful peons.
