Good afternoon my fellow investors. Please please please who can shed more light on this tax and deductions stanbic ibtc does on treasury bills maturity? Thank you everyone. |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Nichee: 3:11pm On Jun 04 |
bisiswag:The tax is not peculiar to only Stanbic IBTC, it is a 10% withholding tax and will be deducted from the interest (or discount) earned on Treasury Bills. Its mandated by the Nigeria tax authorities. |

CBN no longer post FGN BOND quarterly calender on their website. Who has the bond offer circular for June or the remainder of the last two quarters? I need to have an idea about the opening and closing date and offers availability of the subscriptions offer CC Skydiver |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by skydiver01: 5:30pm On Jun 08 |
Yes the CBN no longer does. However the DMO website does as shown in the link below. The last quarterly calendar published was Q4 2025. https://www.dmo.gov.ng/fgn-bonds/bonds-issuance-calendar This year the DMO has continued to issue monthly auction notices shown in the link below. https://www.dmo.gov.ng/fgn-bonds/bonds-offer-circular The one for June has not gone out. June's FGN Bond Auction date Quite a large size too (double May's auction amount). Would be interesting to see where the yields end at.

skydiver01:Thank you for the update. Which offers the best yield among the two offers , if the yield is at 17 percent? |

skydiver01:Seen our previous discussions on this and understood better now. Also doing my own personal research |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by skydiver01: 10:49am On Jun 16 |
Whilst the yields on both are likely to be similar, personally I would opt for the Apr 2037 only because one would have two months accrued interest to pay now (which is irrelevant because you get it back) but relevant if cashflow is tight and you desire more units to purchased with the ~five months accrued interest required to be paid on the Jan 2035 (which will also be higher per unit because of it's higher coupon). If cashflow is irrelevant then it is a function of your preferred tenor i.e. 2035 or 2037. In addition, the 2037 provides additional income for another ~two years ![]() I bought the Jan 2035 at the January auction this year so it is not of interest to me at this time. DAramis: |

skydiver01:Thank you for your explanation. That brings me to my next question, can a mandate of instruction be given to bank to re-invest the accrued interest and coupon that would be paid under this or other higher yielding bond? How can someone go about it? |

In principle, a mandate with 'specified and detailed instructions e.g. instruments to be purchased and amounts' can be given to a bank/financial institution to execute (on your behalf) at 'such specified times' e.g. upon receipt of your coupon payments. That said, unless there is a strong need to give a mandate e.g. automatic compounding with coupons received, it is probably a good idea to review your options between coupons (6 monthly) and then instructing after coupons have been received since markets, needs and opportunities do change. If you do wish to give a mandate, its best to contact your account officer or relationship manager. DAramis: |

skydiver01:Cool with that second paragraph. Best to watch market flow before trying to reinvest... 3 to 6 months waiting period seems like a good plan. Thanks for your valuable advices so far... And to all other contributors in this thread. Investment is all about starting small (as small as 50k naira) and grow it gradually. Unfortunately, some are waiting till they get 50 million naira cash before they can start thinking about investing. |
