ZLP deregistration: ‘This judgement will now expose you’ – Nwanyanwu tell Justice Lifu, Federal High Court

The National Chairman and presidential candidate of the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, Dan Nwanyanwu, has said that the ruling delivered against his party and four others by the Federal High Court will end up exposing all that has been allegedly going on in that particular court.

He described Justice Peter Lifu’s ruling, which ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to immediately de-register the parties as a travesty of justice.

DAILY POST reported on Monday that Justice Peter Odo Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja, has ordered INEC to immediately deregister the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Accord, ZLP and others from participating in the 2027 general elections over alleged constitutional breaches.

Justice Lifu issued the order while delivering judgment in a suit filed by a group of former lawmakers in the country.

By the judgment, former Vice President and Presidential candidate of the ADC Atiku Abubakar has no platform to stand for the forthcoming presidential election.

Similarly, Osun state governor, Ademola Adeleke billed to re-contest in the August 15 governorship election on the platform of Accord Party has been kicked out of the race.

The Court of Appeal has stayed proceedings in this matter. However, despite being aware of the order, Justice Peter Lifu went ahead this morning, after issuing notices for parties to appear in court, and delivered judgment.

Speaking about the judgement on Arise News, Nwanyanwu said, “What happened today is travesty of justice. What happened today can never be accommodated in the legal practice. Without going into too much details, the proceedings in this court has been stayed by the Court of Appeal, and this particular judge, Peter Lifu, wanted to give judgment on the fifth of this month, and when he saw the stay, he couldn’t deliver the judgment. We were in court that day.

“Just this morning, about 9 o’clock, he sent notices to all the parties to be in court, and he gave the judgment. So you ask yourself, is there no more respect to the hierarchy of courts? In fact, his attention was drawn to the appeal. His attention was drawn to the proceedings in the Court of Appeal.

“He said, ‘Yes, I know, yes, I know,’ and he chose to ignore it. That is irresponsible with the greatest respect. It is something that will now expose all that has been going on within the judiciary, particularly the federal high court.”

The Apc is having a field day perpetuating impunity all because they are at the center.
It’s only a matter of time before they will find themselves at the losing end.

Before their praise singers ask how APC is involved, one of the first plaintiff in this notorious suit is an aide to the chief of staff gbajabiamila.

Tinubu has seen the data that we have all seen. He has no pathway to re-election through the ballots. He should just cut to the chase and declare himself president. The fear and trepidation is palpable and moves like this only end up putting off his genuine supporters and demoralising even his hard-core tribal fanatics.

One of the reasons I want a new government to take over in 2027 is the hope that it will sanitize the judiciary. Rogue judges like Justice Lifu would be summarily retired and disgraced out of the judicial system.

Did ZLP meet all the minimum thresholds outlined by the Electoral act ?

Answer: No.

So why are they bullying the judge for simply doing his job in interpreting the law?

It's time the NASS pass laws to prevent the bullying of judges .

Since Obidients came to the scene , they have been attacking the Judiciary and any judge who doesn't rule in their favour.

A law must be passed to which any one or body that threatens, bullies , slanders any judge should face stiff penalties

If you have problem with a judge then appeal the judgment and petition the NJC over his or her conduct .

Our judiciary is becoming difficult to understand. Every day, its like there is a new attempt to deregister opposition parties. Why can't they help in strengthening democracy and encouraging political participation? It's always all about eliminating alternative voices.

We are in deep shit with the kind of judiciary in Nigeria. A healthy democracy should thrives on competition, diverse opinions, and a level playing field for all political parties. Actions like these raise legitimate concerns about whether we are gradually moving towards a one-party state.

Why are they addressing the Justice directly?

Did he gave the Judgement by himself or based on what was presented to him?

The oppostion should have united into a unified front.

Instead they all went their own way and were doing their own thing. This is the result.

No way ZLP has a national representation, nor do some of the other parties ,except ADC.

The Accord Party has won elective positions at various levels, including National Assembly seats, State House of Assembly seats, and Local Government/Councillorship positions. Given these electoral successes, on what basis is the party being considered for deregistration? Furthermore, with a major election scheduled for August 2026, how would such a decision affect the party's participation in the electoral process?

There are two job in Nigeria today I really don't envy, they are being a judge and INEC chairman. The political parties and their supporters through their bullies and unfounded allegations have made the two jobs unattractive to people like me.

The main issue here is that a superior court has ordered stay of action and why couldn't this high court judge obey? Like an army lieutenant giving an order to counter that of a Colonel. Where on earth does that happen except in Nigeria? Or is there something I am not getting?

Very simple question. They believe he's been influenced when even laymen like us already knows what's going to happen beforehand.

Tinubu has no clear path to victory, and he knows it.

Majority of Nigerians, across tribes, religion and ethnicity want him out. After what they have endured under his administration, the thought of a second term is frightening and difficult to imagine.

Even if he intends to rig the election, you still need a reasonable level of popularity to make it believable. Right now, he doesn't appear to command even 20% support nationwide.

Campaign season is around the corner. What exactly is he going to tell Nigerians? That the hardships of the first term were just a rehearsal for the second?

Waste of time! The judge that jailed and threw Nnamidi Kanu into the prison dungeon he belongs, how many times has he been exposed till date? Tell us the new government you expect to take over that is capable of sanitizing our judiciary, but don't forget to show us examples of judiciary reform or similar that new government had done before to convince us. However, do noy try to be a joke of yourself by mentioning one Obi of Agulu that proposed of releasing an international terrorist serving jail term in Kano as mode of judiciary reform you want Nigeria to accept ?

You don't just remove person, you must make provision for more competent candidates that are better than Tinubu practically. At moment, prove that new government that will come and do magic for us with strong evidences of what they had achieved before to convince us how they are better candidates than Tinubu, but don't ever mention Obi or Atiku because those ones are still below Tinubu and will make judiciary worse
