thanks i really appreciate.

i will be strong and hold.

@investmentvirus, as I mentioned earlier in some of my posts, you cannot separate the stock market from any mutual fund that has equity as part (or all) of its underlying assets. Whatever happens in the equity market will directly impact equity or balanced funds. Market movements, whether upward or downward, are natural and reflect how financial markets operate globally.

You would have noticed that when the stock market was performing well, your funds were also doing great. Now that the market is bearish, you are experiencing the opposite. This is normal.

This is where having clear investment objectives becomes very important. Your objective defines your approach and expectations. Without it, it becomes difficult to succeed in stock market investing or any form of investment.

If you are investing for the long term, short-term price movements should not be a major concern. Instead, a downturn can be an opportunity to acquire more units at lower prices, positioning yourself for future gains when the market rebounds. Markets move in cycles, and recovery is a natural part of that cycle.

Regardless of external or even internal challenges, strong companies and markets tend to recover over time, especially when fundamentals improve.

However, if your risk tolerance does not align with stock-related investments, you may consider safer options such as Treasury Bills or MMF capital preservation and more stable returns.

Ultimately, aligning your investments with your risk tolerance and objectives is key.

Election or no election, the stock market remains. Generally, most people fear and panic during elections, but it's unnecessary because whether the incumbent or the new government that comes in, there will always be a need for the capital market.

I can tell you right now, many smart investors that has cash with them wish the market goes down for them to see stocks like GTCO and the likes sell 30% below their current price, they will gladly come in and take a position, while those who don't understand will panic and sell off.

I will also advise, do more reading/research so that you can understand better how these investment instruments actually work, which will enable you to make more informed investment decisions rather than just relying on what anybody says.

Downtime has been resolved but I have not been able to receive OTP for withdrawal.
Re: Mutual Funds by OKclothier: 5:18am On Jun 16
I just initiated a withdrawal now and it was successful. Infact I was paid within minutes, I thought it was a joke, so you can try again. All these happened between 5am and the time I responded.

The Other Face of the Market

I understand that many participants here are more familiar with Money Market Funds (MMFs), while some have recently begun exploring equity or balanced funds.

Whether you are new or experienced in the market, it is important to understand that the current market situation is normal. Market cycles have always existed; markets move upward or downward over time.

For discerning investors, a bearish/down market presents an opportunity. By applying a naira cost averaging strategy, this is a good time to accumulate fundamentally sound, dividend-paying stocks in tranches. In simple terms, continue buying during market dips. This approach helps reduce risk and positions you for gains when the market rebounds.

When the market eventually recovers, you will benefit not only from capital appreciation but also from dividends earned while holding these investments. Note that a down market doesn't stop dividends from a fundamentally sound company.

Always remember that price movements in the market are influenced by many factors, and a stock’s price does not necessarily reflect its true value.

According to the popular saying by the living legend Warren Buffett, " Be greedy when others are fearful and be fearful when others are greedy"

Invest wisely, follow your investment objective, not the fears, noise, or hype.
