kemmyk:Exactly! You see how they replied to what i said? I’m not gonna respond to any of them because i didn’t come here to argue. Just came to drop my 2 cents and hopefully see if they’ll even think about it. Instead, they’re doubling down and trying to get me to argue with them. It’s well sha I guess it’s only a memory now, what this thread used to be. |

This thread has been abused. When I get to Canada on the 22nd Aug, I will create a thread on my personal process from when I got my International passport to when I landed in Canada. Hints: 1. My International Passport took 5 business days (both capturing and everything) First timer. 2. I applied to schools in Canada some gave me offer in less that 3 days. 3. My study permit took 4 weeks and 6 days to get approved. Applied May got approved June. I will be sharing my story (the documents I submitted) with evidence once I land Toronto. PS: This is my first time applying to Canada. I do not have any travel history. PPS: I did it all alone without a travel agent. Even when my school wanted to give me their immigration lawyer to assist in my study permit application I opted out. PPS: Reason I don't use agents is because, apart from the fact that a lot of them are scammers, some of them do mistakenly mix applicants documents when submitting because they do not deal with just one application. I learnt from Cubana Chief Priest who till his death cannot enter USA because of the messed an agent made on his application. |

Please remove your phone number from your post. For accommodation, you have two main options: on-campus and off-campus housing. For a smooth transition (“soft landing”), on-campus accommodation is usually the best choice. However, it tends to be more expensive and comes with more restrictions. If you’re interested in this option, contact the school’s residence office to confirm availability before applying. If you secure on-campus housing, you can stay for one term and then look for a more affordable off-campus option for subsequent terms. Finding off-campus accommodation can be more challenging, especially if you don’t know anyone in Winnipeg who can host you for one to two weeks while you search. If that’s the case, consider booking an Airbnb for a couple of weeks to give yourself time to explore housing options. I hope your visa arrives on time so you can begin planning your trip and be ready to start school in September. lankyuchebanky: |

kemmyk:2021 was COVID-19 era and high immigration level and backlogs and majority of the application where DIY according to timeline, some applications stayed in processing and review for 8months to 1 year before decision is made and when you receive approval ,you may need to take it by action by contacting IRCC,If not you will add another waiting time for your PPR,It is immigration caps that is killing the thread and can never be as 2021 or In 2022, when last batch of approved application sitting with IRCC was released after covid 19 travel ban ended in October 2022 and those approved applications are not small numbers upto 500k according to reports. And In addition during 2021 a well organised application with POF of 14m to 15 m can get you study permit and sowp approved without paying a dime to DLI. |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Cullinane: 3:56pm On Jun 18 |
lanresz:Adding to this, remember RRC is in downtown Winnipeg and a lot of downtown areas have high crime due to high drug usage and poverty amongst the native Canadian Indian population. So it means if you are doing off-campus housing it will be some distance from RRC and this could be problematic if you don''t have a car because their city transit system is not effective and punctual plus during winter which lasts 5 months, it goes to -45 degrees a lot of times. Winnipeg is the coldest city over 100k population in the entire North America (Canada plus USA). Their winter is legendary and very dangerous. |

AbelAbdul:Congratulations sir. Please may i ask how you intend to handle accomodation when you land in Canada? Also, did the embassy request for your academic transcript or only degree certificate? |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by AbelAbdul: 4:02pm On Jun 18 |
lanresz:If today ends and @lankyuchebanky does not remove his number from this thread, I will consider him a scammer/agent who wants to lure his victim. I still don't understand why people upload their numbers and email addresses here. Why can't you be contacted here @lankyuchebanky? |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by AbelAbdul: 4:13pm On Jun 18 |
hilltop007:1. My school has provided on-campus and off-campus accommodation for students. I have till Jul to decide whether I need either from them. They are fvcken expensive. My plan B is getting accommodation from Facebook marketplace or staying in AirBnB for some time. 2. My school requested for Transcript to finalize m admission. As for IRCC, I did not wait for them to request for anything. I submitted every document I deemed relevant including my transcript. To your question, embassy did not request for my transcript. I submitted it alongside other documents during my application. If you have, submitted to make your processing time faster. |

Hi lovely people Please I am in a Dilemma. My husband is 40+, studied mechanical Engineering, has PGD also, COREN too and works in Facility management. A relatively good job paying in 6 figures. I am 30+, studied Biochemistry, have an MSC too. I am a senior Govt worker. My income is okay and I have a little business bringing in some income too. We have children with the youngest being a year plus. We want to try this study visa, who should go and have better opportunities in CA for relocation/PR. Thank you. |

wondychiqe:Better plan well/Same narrative above others normally say when they arrive as see realities, coming to canada with your profile is like playing bet9ja .. |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by PhdCloakRoom(m): 8:39pm On Jun 18 |
wondychiqe:Pls disregard any negative jab. Both of you have a very good average Nigerian profiles and study visa still remain the fastest type of visa you can use to enter Canada and do almost all the stuffs Canadian citizens do ie opening bank account, driving , work-study etc providing you are maintaining your studentship. If your Msc cgpa is in good standing you should be the one to apply but i will recommend Phd. Your career as a Nigerian senior civil servant is a good omen especially if you have been working on the path of your course f study. If otherwise, your husband as an engineer is good to apply but let it be in STEM program. Dont settle for less. |

wondychiqe:Hey, don’t be confused you are the one that should go From where you are now, I would strongly suggest looking into healthcare-related programs like: Medical Laboratory Technologist Medical Laboratory Technician Clinical Laboratory Science / Medical Laboratory Science These are all within healthcare, and they generally lead to strong job opportunities after graduation if you plan properly. Ultimately, you can assess your own situation better than anyone else, but the key thing to keep in mind is this: if you are coming to Canada, try to choose an in-demand program that leads to an in-demand occupation. That way, you improve your chances of qualifying for Express Entry or other immigration pathways. If this were about three months ago, I would have strongly encouraged a master’s program, which is still a very solid option. In Ontario specifically, one advantage used to be the Ontario Master’s Graduate stream under the PNP, but that stream was discontinued recently. It had been around even before I came to Canada in 2017, so it’s been a major change. A lot is changing right now, and that’s why it’s risky to choose a program based only on assumptions that the same immigration pathways will still be available when you graduate. Policies can change significantly within two years. it’s best to focus on programs linked to occupations that are currently in demand, and also pay attention to how often the government conducts Express Entry draws for those occupations through category-based selection. No one can predict the future, but if the current government is in power for the next few years, there is a strong focus on priority occupations in healthcare and other in-demand fields. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/rounds-invitations/category-based-selection.html Another useful step is to estimate your future CRS score realistically. Assume you maximize your English scores, factor in your spouse’s age at that time, complete your studies, and gain at least one year of Canadian work experience. Also include points for your Canadian education, ideally at the master’s level if you go that route. If after all those assumptions your CRS score is still below around 500 https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/check-score.html then it may be worth reconsidering your strategy and exploring other pathways, including learning French as an additional advantage.

PhdCloakRoom:Yes, Wondychiqe STEM is good for your husband, but the last time the government specifically selected STEM in Express Entry was in 2024. Since then, STEM draws have only been held a few times since Express Entry began in 2015... I think like 3 times so that's a bad gamble https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/mandate/policies-operational-instructions-agreements/ministerial-instructions/express-entry-rounds.html She actually has a stronger option in healthcare. If she goes into a program such as Medical Laboratory Technologist Medical Laboratory Technician Clinical Laboratory Science / Medical Laboratory Science and then secures a job in that field after graduation, it may provide a more consistent pathway.
