Correct 💯 No be to just remove am fiam without having any plans on how to soften the impact on citizens. Besides, what have they done with the savings so far? ![]() |

Tinubu really messed up the subsidy removal thing... How can you just come on your day of inauguration and say subsidy is gone without sitting down for a day in office to study the optics and implement a strategy for removal? Just subsidy is gone like a knee jerk approach. Well, that summarizes the character of his government... no strategy on how it approaches issues and the consequences Nigerians are suffering for! |

Okay, the subsidy savings wetin you take am do? You just dey share am out to irresponsible governors while you're burdening the people with more loans. Dem take loan swear for una? |

The question any sane person should ask obi n his bunch of empty followers, where will obi get money to pay subsidy for first few months or how will he do it when the money wasn't even budgeted for? Like seriously it's obvious obi doesn't even understand everything he's saying, he's just saying what emotional people wants to hear n not reality

chicfarmer:calm down n answer my question first Where will obi get money to pay subsidy in the first few months when it wasn't included in the budget buhari made?

| Re: I Would’ve Removed Fuel Subsidy In An Organized Manner – Peter Obi by LordBiden(m): 2:25pm On Jun 18 |
Counterigbolies:Which means Buhari was responsible for removing subsidy and not tinubu. But where I fault tinubu is that he doesn't know how to cut cost of running government,we can't feel the benefits of subsidy removal. |

Have u ever bothered to ask your governor's if their monthly allocation increased? Check each state allocation n it has more than tripled n u still blaming tinubu? So u expect tinubu to b d one to come n do state projects for governor's? LordBiden:the problem with many Nigerians is that we don't read and we ain't ready to read Ordinary google search would have enlighten u more

| Re: I Would’ve Removed Fuel Subsidy In An Organized Manner – Peter Obi by LordBiden(m): 2:27pm On Jun 18 |
Counterigbolies:Obi never said he would bring back subsidy, infact subsidy removal was his original idea which tinubu copied. Obi plans is to cut down cost of running government and then channel the benefits of the removal properly. |
| Re: I Would’ve Removed Fuel Subsidy In An Organized Manner – Peter Obi by LordBiden(m): 2:30pm On Jun 18 |
Counterigbolies:Do you know Tinubu fumbled with the handling of the exchange rate, even if governors received more allocations, the current tinubu exchange rate won't allow them achieve much in terms of projects and service delivery to the people. Cost of construction materials shot up due to the tinubu policies on the exchange rate. |
| Re: I Would’ve Removed Fuel Subsidy In An Organized Manner – Peter Obi by Counterigbolies: 2:31pm On Jun 18 |
LordBiden:meaning within few days he will suddenly cut cost of governance? How? Please let me know how he will do that? Will he just cut political office holders pay or how? Another question is that at least obi will have to pay subsidy for few months before finally removing it, where will he get money to pay for those few months? |

Just to put lamba king's suggestion in perspective. He will call the same people who benefit from the present corrupt system and tell them. "Guys, I want to remove food from your mouth, tell me the best way to do it?" And the same stakeholders (NNPC, NUPENG, and co) will now smile back at him and tell him, 'yeah, you can go ahead' If anyone was ever in doubt, it is now very clear, this man does not have what it takes to even be an estate chairman not to talk of president of Nigeria. The same set of people who almost frustrated Dangotte refinery is the same set of people he would have gone to seek permission from to remove the subsidy in an organized way. I thought he would have had the courage to condemn the exchange rate policy. |

LordBiden:guy are u just arguing blindly or what? Did u read this? Same exchange rate reform is responsible for more money to states n u are here condemning it....it's obvious u really don't understand what u are arguing about

9jatriot:God bless u It's obvious many obi supporters doesn't even understand what they are talking about n obi himself knows that, imagine going to meet a thief that u want him to drop his gun n not come to rob in your street again, will he agree? Subsidy is an organized scam and d benefactors are the cabals and the floating of naira is the best thing that ever happen to tinubu government. Bode George is a strong critic of tinubu but hailed tinubu on that step, imagine wigwe of access bank, tony elumelu and co making billions in months by doing nothing. They will set dollars at any price they like and go around doing anything with it |

Which original idea? Obi that did not release any manifesto until people began to press him then he went and generated one photocopy manifesto that even an average SS3 student can create, is that the same one you are lying Obi was the first to say. https://www.nairaland.com/7399425/confusion-peter-obi-claim-he Go and watch these videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doYE-INEaGE LordBiden: |

He said: “I didn’t criticize Tinubu for removing the subsidy. I said I would have removed it, but in an organized manner. I wouldn’t have announced it at my inauguration. The problem was by August 2022, debt servicing was eating 97% of government reveneue, and a big cause of the debt was the subsidy we were keeping on fuel.(Add oil prices being so low in 2020 and 2021, due to covid, which harmed our budget badly and forced us to take loans massively)> For all those blasting GEJ for removing subsidy, there was a good reason why he wanted to do it in 2012, it was to avoid a situation where subsidy was indirectly eating most government revenue, forcing us to borrow even more. But, yeah, people could not see it. Had subsidy gone in 2012, we might have been in a better place by now. The issue of debt eating most government revenue may not have even arisen Next time, try to find out why some decisions have to be made, my fellow Nigerians, even if you no like the government. “I would have first sat down with operators in the industry because we know there is a lot of crim!nality around the subsidy. And the operators would have advised you to remove it. They were not making profits, they were having to lie to claim subsidy benefits so as not to lose money, and they were not doing well at all under subsidy, plus the refineries had been wrecked after decades of underselling fuel at a loss. “I would remove it to determine the exact amount being spent on subsidy and also address the issue of exchange rate deregulation. But in doing these things, the most important thing is to fight corruption head-on.Well, you cannot determine the exact amount spent on subsidy because fuel consumption is not static, nor is the estimated amount of money needed for subsidy in a given year static, because of production costs, and at the same time, the issue of naira value falling because forex is being spent paying for subsidy...which also affects the cost. ALso, smuggling. A lot of Nigerians think that big marketers were doing the smuggling, but the vast majority, north and south were small scale smugglers. That forces subsidy costs up, and since it is nigh impossible to know how many of them were doing it, that makes estimating subsidy costs problematic Finally, illicit fuel was being smugglied out as far as Central African republic and Ghana. That makes estimating subsidy costs even more difficult because we do not know how many people in foreign african countries are using smuggled Nigerian fuel. “Since the subsidy was removed, what has been the impact on the average Nigerian? We have even borrowed more money than we used to when subsidy was still in place.”Borrowing is happening because the years of paying subsidy helped to increase our debt...meaning we had to use government revenue to pay off those debts. Meanwhile,we still need monies for budget. Otherwise no salary payment, no projects done, nothing...and since income from personal tax is too low to fund our budget...and oil income is also very low...more borrowing. ANd we still have to service the debt..more borrowing. Still, we got to vote out APC, because they were responsible for the mess as detailed above. But Obi should stop this populism and tell us hard truths. We Nigerians can take it. |

9jatriot:obi that doesn't even know the meaning of government running cost People like obi just talk for talking sake, they really don't understand how things works This subsidy removal by bit line is highly annoying for someone as exposed as obi cos it's annoying. Where will a new government get money to pay subsidy? How can a new government cut down running cost within few days? Obi must think running Nigeria is like arranging a room by a bachelor where he can do anything n nobody will query him |
| Re: I Would’ve Removed Fuel Subsidy In An Organized Manner – Peter Obi by chicfarmer: 2:45pm On Jun 18 |
Counterigbolies:Do a supplementary budget, if you have to. Give yourself time to study the books to know what you have or don't have, then take a STRUCTURED approach that won't kill the people you want to lead. What is the point of rushing in like a fool and then making policies that ends up enriching politicians while impoverishing the masses? Una own be say make we just dey borrow dey go. Who go pay after you've left office? |

9jatriot:with obi latest interview with rufai, it exposed obi is highly empty If I were to be a member of obi team, I will tell him to stop granting interviews for now. Obi is like someone who claims to b an engineer and when asked his plan to build a sky scrapper all he keeps saying is just send me the money I will build it When asked of his plan, he repeats just send me the money I will build it Give us the cost breakdown n analysis, obi keeps shouting just give me the money first. Any sane person will think twice before dealing with that kind of person cos he will do trial and error and fail woefully |

chicfarmer:do u know what it takes to do a supplementary budget and conditions attached? How many months do u think it takes to make a supplementary budget? Do u think a new government of less than 1 month can make a supplementary budget? Do u think any financial organisation will borrow a new government money? I bring conditions for u to do supplementary budget so u can understand better It's either u save for a while n do it or borrow, tinubu saved money from subsidy removal and did supplementary budget in October

It depends on whether he even knows what "organized manner" means. |

chicfarmer:My friend, there's no organized way in removing fuel subside, it's either partial removal that will still be abused by marketers or full removal. It's not everything the dull Obi says that you guys will applaud. Question some of his answers and solutions. Stop believing like Tinubu supporters that praise everything Tinubu does. The country can't move forward with people like Tinubu and Obi supporters |
