You are absolutely correct, the organized way Obi is proposing is why Jonathan's subsidy removal attempt failed. There is no organized way at removing that cancer. While, one agrees that the savings from the removal could have been better managed in terms of transparency and funds redirection.

So, I agree with you that the subsidy removal was needed and there was no better time and way to carry it out.

If Tinubu didn’t remove it the very first, he would never have been able to remove it at all. Remember, Tinubu was closer to the seat of power more than Obi. His people were in Government and he knew what he was going to do without much ado about nothing

Fuel subsidy removal has not reduced the level of borrowing by FG in fact the level of borrowing under this government is higer than any preceding government in Nigeria.One of the reasons for borrowing is that foreign exchange that has spiralled out of the FG's control and inability to grow our export market.

The Buhari handover notes and transitional documents would have revealed the state of Finances to the Tinubu government. And besides there was no provision in the 2023 budget for payment of subsidy.

Nigeria should have removed this subsidy years ago instead of borrowing to maintain an unsustainable budget item. Tinubu did the right thing by stopping the bleeding in finances. What organized manner is Obi saying? This shows he’s unable to take tough but necessary decisions. Immediate removal was the best economic decision by this government. Prosperity will judge him to be right

It's unfortunate, but it's sad that the same person that protested against subsidy removal in 2012 while in the opposition removed it as the President on his Inauguration Day. It simply implies that he lacks a knowledge of the workings of the petroleum sector & needed to be guided before taking such a decision. That single pronouncement has collapsed the economy of the Nation. Unfortunately, they was no backup plan to ameliorate the ripple effects, economic hardship & sufferings faced by the masses. The windfall from the removal of the subsidy has been masked by inflation & high exchange rate caused by the floating of the naira. The failure to arrest insecurity has resulted in food insecurity etc.
If PBAT loves Nigeria & feels for the suffering of the people, he should throw in the towel in 2027. His chances of winning a free, fair & credible elections is slim.
