So you admit he is still young. Yet you join in putting him down. Smh.

Chelle not playing him at the Afcon is not Akin's fault. That is on Chelle. If Akin stayed back in Pisa and kept balling, we will not be having this discussion now.

You all supported Okoye snubbing the Afcon for his place at Udinese because he would likely be 2nd choice. I wonder what would you would have said if Akin did same instead of the way he was treated at the Afcon. Funny lots.

Wen I comot mind for the guy matter than when Chelle no give am single minutes for Afcon

He is still young and can still get to the heights we all want him to get to but for now him no deserve mention

Still 4-3-3 bro
COOL10:
The interesting part is that the U.S.A are playing with a different formation today. They used a 4-3-3 in the first match but seem to be playing a 3-5-2 today.

I'm telling you. One thing I like about them is they're fearless. They don't second guess or rotate the ball endlessly with no result like the way Portugal and Czechia do. They take their chances and even if you intercept their balls, they know how to quickly reorganize their defensive structure.
They are a proper team. No unnecessary dribbles with no end product but superb off-the-ball movement, quick one two passes and instant through balls into the opposition area. Mauricio Pochettino has made this team incredible.

It looks like a 3-5-2. Folarin Balogun and Pepi are the two strikers up front. I guess the reason for the 3-5-2 is because Pulisic isn't playing.

CIES still says you are wrong grin He definitely has fine potentials.

Also midfield talents like Nnadi, Akinsanmiro, Tijani, David Moses, Mubarak Suleiman, Christantus Uche, etc and upcoming dual nats like Zac Shuaib, Demi Akarakiri, Francis Onyeka and more like Otomewo, Ridwan, Mukhtar, etc etc... are all my boys.

No one monitors or keeps automatic track of their progress among many others like I do so... I am Team Naija Youngsters with excellent, decent and good potentials...

...and I wont stop reporting on their progress. 😄

If e pain you, go hit a wall. Lol

That is what this thread is about, Dark one. To report on Nigerian players/talents home and abroad and especially those in Europe. So deal with it.

Stop taking me back to Nwakali. You all rated Aribo above him and I ask too, where is Aribo now? So let it rest... Younger ones are coming up.

I must commend Poch's tactical flexibility with this USA side.

USA are not among my personal top 5 favs or darkhorses or even outside force but they are quite an interesting side.

Okoye and Akin’s case are different. If Akin is quarter as good as you always paint him here Chelle would have used him as Iwobi’s cover who can be introduced to games when the Fulham man is tired or even start when Alex is not available

For me saying he is still young implies that for now I’m not writing him off totally.

How is Okoye's different from Akin's? It is basically same. GK trying to keep his first choice place and a young MF trying to keep his starting place while out on loan. I knew you will term them different to protect Okoye's interests as you are openly Team Okoye.

Also, Chelle has misprofiled lads like Uche in the team before. That I like him and support him does not mean he is perfect. Chelle is not perfect and he bleeped up on Akinsanmiro. If he was not gonna use him, he should not have interrupted his serie A flow.

And what do you mean by how I paint him? Did his showings in serie A not get him an Afcon invite? His invite is proof I am not wrong on Akin's potentials.

Anyway, I read reports that Akin was also ill during the Afcon before he returned to decent health state. And this was why he sat out light training sessions prior to the Algeria tie. Before this illness during the KOs though, Chelle did not use him in the group stage. That was unfair.

Napoleon55:
I get you,
Most Nigeria were wired into hating Messi because of that Match, even the Olympics final loss to Messi, all the world cup group matches loss to Argentina.
But some of us have moved on from those losses and still appreciate Messi's incredible talent.

But it's wrong to say that FIFA helped Messi win world cup.
Some referees might make some wrong calls but FIFA instructing all the referees to favour Argentina so Messi could win WC is not correct
I don't hate him, what I hate is the preferred treatment he received from referees,

If you are watching this USA vs Australia you will saw an Aussie get booked for same tackle Messi committed against Algeria,

Thing is you can't blame people for saying FIFA aids him, the way he was treated like an egg that's easy to break is more than suspicious

I rest my case

Besides am angry with him, with all that he is blessed with, infact lemme stop here

Akin would hv manned up and informed Chelle that he would only honour the invite if he is guaranteed playing time in the competition same way Okoye did inorder not to jeopardise his position in his club

Chelle had a clear discussion with Okoye and both understood each other. Even after the afcon Chelle recalled Okoye to his team

Have you asked yourself why Akin couldn’t even get a chance to play against Uganda and the 3rd place game against Egypt

We all saw him against Egypt in the friendly prior to the Afcon and he was not it at all

A 20y/o newbie (clocked 21 in November 2025) saying that abi. Lol... you guys are hypocritical.

Unlike Akin, Okoye was already among the senior players in the team. He could make such steps unlike a young boy who was just getting a call he has dreamed of since he was at BLFA. So sorry, this is where the difference shows.

While both lads were in similar situations, Akin was a new guy and turning down the NT callup would not have gone down well with most of you, the fans. Infact, it would have been termed a missed opportunity. What followed was not his fault because it is on Chelle for not even giving him some Afcon mins.

And He played 45mins vs Egypt and did okay. No dey lie abeg. Only 45mins and you are hell bent on drawing false conclusions.

To answer the emboldened... I already mentioned jis illnews during the KOs that kept him out of even light training ahead of the Algeria game. So he was not in good physical shape to play subsequently.

His chance was meant to have come before the illness in the group stage but Chelle messes that up.
