CAF needs to ban Tunisia from participating in WCQ.. Total waste of time.

The irony though is that Tunisia is more successful in AFCON than some of their more talented Mahgreb neighbors like Morocco.

There's a dude in CIV #26 a MF maestro freaking comfortable on the ball, amazing control and confidence with the ball and great passer as well

I see a frightening MF giant in the making
Clubs will fight for this guy and learnt he's only 20yrs old
Unequivocally he's my man of the match yesterday among the CIV team
Kudos bro!

Not really. Getting the job tell the world he's still highly regarded and if he is even slightly successful he will be seen as a miracle worker. If he isn't, he can say well the damage was already 99% done. So it's a win win for him, even before you add the finances.😅

Defeat to the Japanese was inevitable. Hiring Renard or Pep or retaining Sabri Lamochi would not prevent that.

Japan are not in my list of Top 5 WC Favs or Darkhorses or even outside force but they are in another unnamed class. They are a problem.

I was expecting at most a 1/2 goal defeat. Disgusting team

Meliforme:
Mikel is not as creative as Iwobi.
Iwobi excels more in overall passing range (long balls, chip passes, and crosses of the ball)

Iwobi's tendencies to also roam the wings makes him even more active in build ups and feeding the forwards.
You don start again,
If Iwobi is better than Mikel in these you mentioned, what have been preventing the super eagles all along from achieving success?

PDPGuy:
Japan faced just one shot in the first half, their fewest shots allowed in the first half of any World Cup match. Their old record was two - which also came against Tunisia, in 2002.

None of the five teams who have sacked a manager at a World Cup have then won their subsequent game under the new coach - a run continued by Herve Renard and Tunisia here.
Sacking a coach in the middle of the tournament is always a gamble, sometimes it works, sometimes it won't

You think one player is responsible for achieving team success?
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Moniter0: 1:27pm On Jun 21
Iwobi and Mikel are different. Iwobi is a kind of player that plays quick football, he doesn't like to keep the ball for long, his presence makes the SE move the ball and get things done quickly, but Mikel is that kind of player that brings calm, ball possession and retention, composure and stability to the midfield. I'll play a prime Mikel as a Central Midfielder while playing a prime Iwobi as an Attacking midfielder. Both offer unique contributions when they play.

No, but people have complained a lot about our midfield since Mikel retired.
And since he retired,we have truly struggled in that department for a period of time

Midfield is made up of 3-4 players and our current problem is lack of depth and aging midfielders, still doesn't say anything about Iwobi vs Mikel's creativity

Iwobi, alone cannot do all the work.
Football is a team sport.

The team manager is responsible for assembling the right blend of tools and fostering the understanding and cohesion needed.

Midfield of Iwobi,Ndidi and Onyeka is good enough to achieve something in Africa, they don't necessarily have to be more creative than Mikel,
But as Meliforme claimed that Iwobi is more creative and better passer than Mikel, so I wondered why they couldn't achieve what Mikel and his co midfielders achieved.
Because player for player, the players playing alongside Iwobi is equally as good as those who played with Mikel .

Ndidi and Onyeka is as strong as Onazi, even if Onazi is better,is not by large margin.

In other departments,it's only in goalkeeping department in Enyeama that is far better than the present Eagles.
Lookman is on the same level with Victor Moses,
Osimhen’s led attack is even better than Emenike and Ighalo led attacks,
Bassey's led defense is solid.

May be the present Super Eagles should check their attitudes, their zeal and commitments.
And put more effort if they are to win something tangible

More than half of the current Super Eagles are just a litter of puppies. No killer instinct, no drive, no determination to put their life on the line and get the results by any means necessary. The only players in the squad who bring that rage and energy constantly from the 1st minute up until the 90th are Osimhen, Bassey, Frederick and when he's locked in, Lookman. Nnadi seems to have that energy too thankfully. Ndidi gets worn out after a while and it's understandable because he's not a young lad anymore. Semi Ajayi is a minus when push comes to shove. Moses Simon is all pace and no technique. Same with Chukwueze. Don't even get me started on Onyedika. Onuachu: decent striker, lax and questionable marking. He's part of the reason we conceded that dying minute goal to Poland. These guys don't have that killer instinct to want to fight to the death. Apply even a fraction of pressure on them and they'll all fold like a night lady's vestments at the sound of money. We saw it against CIV, against DR Congo, against Morocco, against Poland in the second half of the friendlies we played recently.

Zidane at Euro 2000 is the greatest performance a footballer has exhibited at international tournament in life. Its also the greatest international tournament of a life time, football peaked, men played the sport, men were heroes and legends
Naaaa. I watched Euro 2000. The greatest performance is Maradonna at Mexico 86. He was at peak of his powers. Dragged Argentina by the scruff of the neck and won the World cup for them.

Winning is combination of coaching, preparation and talent, How many good coaches have we had of recent, how has NFF done with the preparation, friendly, bonuses etc. You think you can just wake up one day and go and win trophies because you have the best talent, that we haven't won anything is not an indictment on any individual player at all but on the collective structure.

We keep making all these excuses for the underperformance of our players by blaming the coach. For how long?

Coaching wise keshi may not be better than Chelle but you know the difference? Keshi’s team was more hungry! The current eagles don’t show enough hunger when it matters most and that’s why we think Congo, civ or Senegal looks better.
