elyte89:In the last two AFCONs, we only fell to the host nations, Ivory Coast and Morocco respectively. And both teams aren't minnows. They historically go pound for pound with us in team strength. Every other country wey no be host nation for the last two AFCONs collect wella from our hand. From powerhouse to minnows. Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda are historically not on our level. They are hosting the next tourney though, but I simply can't imagine us losing to them in a major tournament. In a friendly or qualifier, sure. But not a main event like the AFCON. So simply based on this wishful thinking, I believe we'll win. 😁 Before anyone starts whining about arrogance, I was half joking with this post |

![]() It’s hard to come to terms with the fact that Osimhen will spend his best years in Gala Doesn’t look like anyone is coming for him Extending his contract at Napoli was a bad move Smh see as prime talent go waste for Turkey What is happening with Nwabali o Even if it is Saudi or Qatar contract, Scandinavia, Canada, Iceland, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, Korea, English Championship, Coventry, Australia or even New Zealand his cv should be able to get him a decent club The confident Nigerian goalie is our best shot going into AFCON 2027. Are you guys not worried? Before you know it preseason would’ve started and I don’t think Chelle will invite a player without a club. Dem no too dey rate our players like that o |

Goke7:If some of them no blame coach, some of them go put all the blame on NFF,leaving out the major actors. Imagine players serious about qualifying for world cup choosing the most important game for the qualifiers to stage a boycott because of payment. They deserve their payments, but sometimes one have to sacrifice certain things for greater good. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Goke7: 6:26pm On Jun 21 |
Napoleon55:You’re indeed very right, I can’t even contradict your point. I had always put the blame on our players for our inability to qualify for the World Cup. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by elyte89: 6:28pm On Jun 21 |
Napoleon55:Dts nff’s fault ,not the players fault to stage protest.. ..however showing the zeal and hunger dt u really need this qualification to play at the World Cup is totally on the players fault.,like I said our non qualification is largely on nff and the unserious players |

Mujtahida:Some people and their post sha, If nobody reply that post,Some people might actually believed it to be true. Leaving out world cup performances to choose the best overall individual performance from a continental tournament is disrespect. Zidan's Europe 2000 performance won't even make top 10 individual performance of all time, his 2006 world cup is far greater performance self. |

elyte89:Nobody is absolving NFF of any blame, but what I'm saying is that the players should have focused on qualifying for the World cup first, before protest, that's if they valued playing at the world cup more than match bonuses they could possibly make times 2 at their various clubs. The protest won't stop NFF from owing them the next time. There are so many reasons why failed to qualify, the players are among them |

Napoleon55:We re basically saying the same thing…off field issues have always been dere , so I believe d players shld be use to dis and take deir destiny in deir hands.Nff dt can’t reason and invest 2-3 million dollars to sort d players wage ,so Dey can focus on the assignment and in return qualify for d tournament and go home with the least prize (appearance fees of 10million dollars),but den our nff too mumu |

Amedino99:The same Ivory Coast we lost to in final in 2023 did we not beat them earlier in the group stage? Most times the opponent is not the issue but the manner we freeze or chicken out when the stakes are higher or at the very end. The issue is critical moments and how we react or respond. |

| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Meliforme: 9:14pm On Jun 21 |
I entered the discussion when AndSunGorilla said this: AndSunGorilla:I replied him with this: Meliforme:I refuted his conclusion that none of our midfielders is like Mikel in anyway The emphasis is on "in anyway". He is implying that Mikel Obi trumps all our current midfielders in every quality that defines a midfielder. This is not true. But AndSunGorilla is actually right in some sense, let me explain. Mikel is creative, but not as Iwobi. Iwobi has an edge when it comes to passes of the ball. Mikel is a good ball distributor, but Iwobi sees more of the ball (he roams about almost everywhere to receive and distribute passes) making him more of a distribution channel. Iwobi's quick decision making also makes him a more viable option especially in counter-attacking situation. But when it comes to winning back possession through defensive duels, Mikel has an edge, making Mikel more complete as a midfielder. This means that Mikel can distribute the ball through crisp passes, can win back possession of the ball and can create good chances. We do not have a midfielder that embodies all these qualities in the manner that Mikel does. Wilfred Ndidi is better than Mikel at winning back possession and contributing to defense but does not possess the level of acuity that Mikel commands in creativity and passess of the ball. AndSunGorilla is right in the sense that we do not have a midfielder as complete as Mikel. |

Football is so detailed that a moment of lapse and you get punished. Ngoy shouldn't be that high in the first place. And then, his positioning and touch after receiving that pass was so off. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by JohnBullMySon: 9:39pm On Jun 21 |
Goke7:Clear red honestly. Belgium no believe say this match go hard like this. Anything Iran na stubbornness full am ![]() |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by JohnBullMySon: 9:44pm On Jun 21 |
mostob:No his positioning was correct. He missed the pass to his cb. That’s the error. As a defender you cannot sit back when your team is attacking cos you’ll create too much space between you and the attackers you meant to mark. |

JohnBullMySon:Even me am surprised this match is so difficult for them but if you watch Iran previous game or highlights you will understand why this match is tough for the Belgians |

Egypt has no other option than to bag a win tomorrow. Their group is wide open since belgium are yet to record a win. The implication of an egypt draw will mean the group will not have any space in the best third place so you either finish 1st and 2nd or you go home. |

Remember the ivory coast we played in the group stage had a different coach in the final so their approach to the game was quite different that you cant say we played exactly the same team. We might have a little bit of tottenham gene in us but its not that bad to be capitulating in front of Tanzania or Kenya. Goke7: |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by AndSunGorilla: 10:21pm On Jun 21 |
Kog45:Agreed!!! The coach must use what he has and what he has isn't bad at all. |
