This is a thread created for people to tell us their vehicle faults and we on our part can give solutions to their car faults. Where applicable, we may make references using pictures, videos and others to provide answers and solutions.

Please, state the name, model and year of your car, type of transmission and engine, and the location of the car to enable quicker response.

Happy motoring!
Good day sir
Nissan Qashqai
201Automatic.

Difficult to drive in the morning after starting car. If I try, car becomes slow and I hear like a wheezing noise ..like a rotor or fan belt noise struggling to roll.

But if I start the car and leave the engine rubbing for around 20 minutes, the car will move smoothly. Drives very well after it has warmed up.

Sometimes but not always, while driving, there's a slight delay during gear change.

Give thanks for your time.

I think someone reported a similar issue recently but I lost the topic.

Good day engineers in the house. I drive a 2005 Toyota camry. I've had no issues until my ABS module went bad and the "brake master" said i could bypass and it will still work fine. Since I've done this bypass, my brakes doesn't feel and work the same. Sometimes I feel like it wants to fail cos it get to soft and it scares me. This morning I noticed that when I step on my brakes, the car is reluctant to stop. Can someone recommend a very professional brake specialist for me in Lagos? I stay at Ikorodu and work in Ikeja. Please I need help.

Good day sir.

Vehicle: Toyota Camry 2005
Concern: ABS module bypassed, brake pedal feels soft, braking performance has reduced, and vehicle sometimes feels reluctant to stop.

First of all, I would advise that this issue should be treated as a safety-critical concern, not just a comfort issue.

Let’s address this properly before the vehicle is driven extensively.

* Important Observation

You mentioned that:

• The vehicle had no brake issues previously.
• The ABS module developed a fault.
• The ABS system was bypassed.
• Since the bypass, the brake feel has changed.
• The pedal sometimes becomes soft.
• The vehicle occasionally feels reluctant to stop.

The timing here is very important.

Since the symptoms started after the ABS bypass, the first area of focus should be the brake hydraulic system and the bypass procedure itself.

* What the ABS Module Actually Does

Many people believe the ABS module only works during emergency braking.

That is not entirely correct.

On your Camry, the ABS hydraulic unit is integrated into the brake system and plays a role in managing brake pressure.

When an ABS unit is bypassed incorrectly, it can create:

• Abnormal brake pedal feel
• Soft pedal conditions
• Air trapped in the system
• Improper hydraulic pressure distribution
• Reduced braking efficiency

This is why a vehicle may still stop, but not stop the way Toyota designed it to.

* The Soft Brake Pedal Is a Red Flag

A soft brake pedal should never be ignored.

Possible causes include:

• Air trapped in the brake lines
• Improper ABS bypass procedure
• Internal master cylinder leakage
• Brake fluid contamination
• External brake fluid leakage
• Fault within the modified hydraulic circuit

The fact that you sometimes feel the brakes may fail is not something to gamble with.

* What Should Be Checked Now

Before replacing parts randomly:

1, Perform a complete brake system inspection.

Check:

• Brake fluid condition
• Brake fluid level
• Brake line integrity
• Caliper operation
• Brake hose condition

2, Inspect the ABS bypass work.

Confirm:

• How the bypass was performed
• Whether hydraulic routing was modified
• Whether proper bleeding was carried out

3, Check the brake master cylinder.

A weak master cylinder can create:

• Soft pedal
• Inconsistent braking
• Pedal sinking under pressure

4, Perform a computerized diagnostic scan.

Even though the ABS module was bypassed, a professional scan can reveal:

• Stored brake system faults
• Wheel speed sensor issues
• Communication faults
• Other related brake system abnormalities

* Do NOT Do This

• Do NOT continue high-speed driving until the braking system is verified.
• Do NOT assume “it is normal after bypass.”
• Do NOT rely solely on pedal feel.
• Do NOT keep driving if the braking performance continues to deteriorate.

Brakes are one of the few systems where guessing can become extremely expensive and dangerous.

* Professional Insight

From your description, I am less concerned about the original ABS fault and more concerned about what happened after the bypass.

A properly functioning brake system should inspire confidence.

The moment a driver begins to fear whether the vehicle will stop, the system requires immediate professional attention.

The soft pedal and reluctance to stop suggest that either:

• The hydraulic system is not operating correctly,

or

• Another underlying brake fault was overlooked during the ABS bypass process.

* Ryan Automotive Limited Recommendation

The next step is not another bypass or another “brake adjustment.”

The next step is a structured brake system diagnosis involving:

• Professional computerized scanning
• Complete hydraulic system inspection
• ABS system evaluation
• Master cylinder testing
• Brake pressure verification
• Road-test validation

At Ryan Automotive Limited, brake-related complaints are treated as safety-priority cases because your ability to stop is more important than your ability to move.

Since you are based in Ikorodu and work around Ikeja, you can schedule an inspection with us in Lagos.

We attend to vehicles from different parts of Lagos and beyond, and we would be glad to carry out a proper assessment of the braking system to determine whether the issue lies with the ABS bypass, master cylinder, hydraulic circuit, or another component before any money is spent on unnecessary repairs.

But sometimes if the by pass is done properly it works, you might be having issues with ur break master or break savo and not even the abs. Because sometimes if they bypass it properly it will work.

Good morning house. My 2008 c300 is moving only on gear one. I’ve changed oil and filter. Scan detected valves and it was changed but it still moving only on gear 1. Any hear experts here?
Good morning sir.

Vehicle: Mercedes-Benz C300 2008
Concern: Vehicle is moving only in 1st gear despite changing transmission oil, filter, and replacing the valve(s) identified during diagnosis.

Let’s address this properly before anybody condemns the gearbox or continues replacing transmission components by guesswork.

* Important Observation

You mentioned:

• The transmission is stuck in 1st gear.
• Oil and filter have been replaced.
• Scan detected valve-related fault(s).
• The valve(s) were replaced.
• The problem remains unchanged.

This is very important.

Whenever a component is replaced and the exact symptom remains unchanged, we have to ask:

* Was the original diagnosis correct?

* Is there another fault causing the transmission to enter protection mode?

Simply replacing the part identified by a fault code does not always solve the root cause.

* What Is Most Likely Happening?

On Mercedes-Benz vehicles, when the transmission control system detects a serious fault, it can enter what is commonly called:

Limp Mode (Emergency Running Mode)

When this happens:

• The transmission may stay in 1st gear.
• The transmission may stay in 2nd gear.
• Gear changes become limited.
• Vehicle speed becomes restricted.
• The gearbox is intentionally protected from further damage.

So the transmission being stuck in one gear is often a symptom of another fault that still exists.

* The Missing Information

One important piece of information is missing:

* What were the exact scan codes?

Without the actual fault codes, nobody can accurately determine whether the issue is:

• Valve body related
• Conductor plate related
• Speed sensor related
• TCM related
• Wiring related
• Internal gearbox related

The exact codes matter.

* What Should Be Checked Now

1, Perform a Professional Computerized Diagnostic Scan Again

Not just code reading.

The technician should check:

• Current faults
• Pending faults
• Transmission live data
• Gear command data
• Speed sensor readings

2, Verify the Replacement Work

Confirm:

• Correct valve was installed
• Installation was done properly
• Connectors were secured correctly
• No transmission wiring was damaged

3, Check Transmission Speed Sensors

A failed speed sensor can cause:

• Incorrect gear calculation
• Limp mode activation
• Gear lock condition

This is common on some Mercedes transmission systems.

4, Inspect the Conductor Plate

Depending on the transmission variant, a faulty conductor plate can create symptoms identical to what you are experiencing.

5, Check Transmission Control Module (TCM)

The TCM should be inspected for:

• Communication faults
• Water intrusion
• Internal module faults
• Power and ground supply issues

* Do NOT Do This

• Do NOT replace the gearbox yet.
• Do NOT continue replacing valves blindly.
• Do NOT replace the TCM without proper testing.
• Do NOT allow anyone to condemn the transmission solely because it is stuck in one gear.

Many Mercedes-Benz transmissions have been unnecessarily replaced when the actual fault was electrical or electronic.

* Professional Insight

The fact that the transmission is still behaving exactly the same after the oil, filter, and valve replacement suggests that the root cause may not have been identified yet.

In many Mercedes-Benz cases, being stuck in one gear is often the transmission protecting itself because it is still detecting a fault elsewhere in the system.

That is why obtaining the exact fault codes and reviewing live transmission data is critical before spending more money.

* Ryan Automotive Limited Recommendation

The next step should be a structured transmission diagnosis, including:

• Professional computerized diagnostic scan
• Fault code analysis
• Live transmission data review
• Speed sensor evaluation
• Conductor plate assessment
• TCM communication testing
• Wiring integrity inspection

At Ryan Automotive Limited, we diagnose the cause of limp mode before recommending parts replacement, helping clients avoid unnecessary gearbox repairs and expenses.

If possible, kindly post the exact fault codes from the scan result. That information will help narrow the diagnosis significantly.

If you are within Lagos or can bring the vehicle down, Ryan Automotive Limited can carry out a comprehensive transmission assessment to determine whether the issue is electronic, hydraulic, or mechanical before any further repairs are carried out.

Thanks for this thread.
I drive a Mercedes Benz C240 (2005) V6. I noticed its fuel consumption is on the high side, and I perceive fuel inside the car when driving. I changed the MAF sensor, which stopped the fuel smell, but the fuel consumption is high. Recently it doesn't accelerate as it used to before (I have to press the accelerator down before it moves), while the gear change while in motion is noticeable.
I scanned the vehicle, and it brought up the report in figure 1, and later when the codes were cleared, the codes in figure 2 were the ones remaining.
1. What do I do regarding the fuel consumption and loss of power?
2. What do the codes represent?
3. The check engine light and ABS and brake lining signals are on the dashboard.
4. What engine oil brands do you recommend, and how do I check the oil level?
5. What transmission oil brand do you recommend, and how do I check the oil level?

Thanks for your time.

I drive honda civic 2009 my car off when i come to a stop after a long distance what could be the cause
Good evening sir.

Vehicle: Honda Civic 2009
Concern: Engine shuts off when coming to a stop after driving for a long distance.

Let’s address this properly before replacing parts unnecessarily.

* Understanding the Symptom

From your description:

• The vehicle drives normally for an extended period.
• The problem occurs after a long drive.
• The engine shuts off when you come to a stop.
• You did not mention any warning lights or fault codes.

This is an important clue because the issue appears to be temperature-related or operating-condition related, rather than a complete no-start problem.

* Important Information Missing

Before a precise diagnosis can be made, it would be helpful to know:

• Is the Check Engine Light on?
• Does the engine restart immediately after stalling?
• Does it crank normally after it goes off?
• Is the A/C usually on when this happens?
• Have you scanned the vehicle for fault codes?

These details can significantly narrow down the diagnosis.

* Possible Causes

Several systems can cause a Honda Civic to stall when coming to a stop after driving.

1, Dirty or Malfunctioning Throttle Body

When you release the accelerator and come to a stop, the throttle body must control airflow to maintain idle speed.

If the throttle body is dirty or not properly calibrated:

• RPM may drop too low
• Engine may stumble
• Vehicle may stall at junctions or traffic lights

2, Faulty Idle Control Strategy / Idle Relearn Issue

On some Honda vehicles:

• Battery disconnection
• Throttle cleaning
• Electrical repairs

can affect idle learning.

The result may be:

• Unstable idle
• Stalling when stopping
• RPM fluctuations

3, Weak Fuel Delivery When Hot

Some fuel pumps work properly when cold but begin to fail once they heat up.

Symptoms include:

• Normal driving initially
• Stalling after extended driving
• Difficult restart when hot

4, Faulty Crankshaft or Camshaft Position Sensor

These sensors can become unreliable when engine temperature rises.

When this happens:

• Engine may suddenly shut off
• Vehicle may restart after cooling down
• Fault codes may or may not be stored

5, Vacuum Leak or Air Intake Issue

Unmetered air entering the engine can cause:

• Poor idle control
• Stalling at stops
• Inconsistent engine performance

* What Should Be Checked Now

1, Perform a professional computerized diagnostic scan.

2, Check for pending fault codes, not just current codes.

3, Monitor live data including:

• Engine RPM
• Throttle position
• Fuel trims
• Coolant temperature
• Fuel system operation

4, Inspect and test the throttle body.

5, Verify fuel pressure under operating temperature.

6, Evaluate crankshaft and camshaft sensor performance.

* Do NOT Do This

• Do NOT replace the fuel pump based on assumptions.
• Do NOT replace sensors blindly.
• Do NOT continue driving for long periods if the stalling becomes frequent.
• Do NOT rely solely on mechanics guessing from symptoms.

Proper diagnosis is always cheaper than replacing multiple parts unnecessarily.

* Professional Insight

The fact that the vehicle only stalls after a long drive suggests that heat and operating temperature are playing a role in the fault.

In our experience, common causes on the 2006–2011 Honda Civic platform include:

• Throttle body issues
• Idle relearn problems
• Fuel delivery problems
• Crankshaft position sensor faults

However, the exact cause can only be confirmed through live-data diagnostics and proper testing.

* Ryan Automotive Limited Recommendation

The next step is a structured engine performance diagnosis, including:

• Professional computerized scanning
• Live data analysis
• Throttle body evaluation
• Fuel system testing
• Sensor performance verification

At Ryan Automotive Limited, we diagnose the root cause before recommending any parts replacement, helping clients avoid unnecessary expenses and repeated repairs.

If you’re within Lagos or can bring the vehicle down, Ryan Automotive Limited can carry out a comprehensive diagnostic assessment to determine exactly why the engine stalls after extended driving.

Even if you’re coming from outside Lagos, we attend to vehicles from different locations and would be glad to assist.

Check VGS and ISM. If none of them are bad, try and clear code then do a reset.

To do a reset, turn key to position 2 ( all lights on dash on but engine not running). Push your accelerator pedal to the floor for 15-20 seconds fully. After that, you turn off the car and wait for 2-3 minutes with your leg still fully pressing the pedal. Then take your foot of the pedal, and try if the car will shift again. If it doesn't shift, replace transmission and programme VGS.

You should also scan and post the results from your Transmsision and ESP/ABS system.

Good day engrs

My Rx 350 has this error code

The transmission is not shifting well

Can this be resolved?

The car is moving but doesn't shift properly
This is likely an issue of a faulty solenoid in the transmission… repairs can be risky if not properly done and replacing your gearbox is the best bet

My car radio says "enter code".

I also bought an android car play for my car and will need support to fix.

Hey! What car model is it? It depends on the brand.

I had the exact same issue on my Renault after changing the battery. I finally sorted it out using https://radiocodeauto.com/renault-radio-code/ – just gave them the VIN and got the code instantly.

Let me know your model, maybe you can find the code there too or I can help you find the serial number.

* Important Observation

You mentioned that:

• The vehicle had no brake issues previously.
• The ABS module developed a fault.
• The ABS system was bypassed.
• Since the bypass, the brake feel has changed.
• The pedal sometimes becomes soft.
• The vehicle occasionally feels reluctant to stop.

The timing here is very important.

Since the symptoms started after the ABS bypass, the first area of focus should be the brake hydraulic system and the bypass procedure itself.

* What the ABS Module Actually Does

Many people believe the ABS module only works during emergency braking.

That is not entirely correct.

On your Camry, the ABS hydraulic unit is integrated into the brake system and plays a role in managing brake pressure.

When an ABS unit is bypassed incorrectly, it can create:

• Abnormal brake pedal feel
• Soft pedal conditions
• Air trapped in the system
• Improper hydraulic pressure distribution
• Reduced braking efficiency

This is why a vehicle may still stop, but not stop the way Toyota designed it to.

* The Soft Brake Pedal Is a Red Flag

A soft brake pedal should never be ignored.

Possible causes include:

• Air trapped in the brake lines
• Improper ABS bypass procedure
• Internal master cylinder leakage
• Brake fluid contamination
• External brake fluid leakage
• Fault within the modified hydraulic circuit

The fact that you sometimes feel the brakes may fail is not something to gamble with.

* What Should Be Checked Now

Before replacing parts randomly:

1, Perform a complete brake system inspection.

Check:

• Brake fluid condition
• Brake fluid level
• Brake line integrity
• Caliper operation
• Brake hose condition

2, Inspect the ABS bypass work.

Confirm:

• How the bypass was performed
• Whether hydraulic routing was modified
• Whether proper bleeding was carried out

3, Check the brake master cylinder.

A weak master cylinder can create:

• Soft pedal
• Inconsistent braking
• Pedal sinking under pressure

4, Perform a computerized diagnostic scan.

Even though the ABS module was bypassed, a professional scan can reveal:

• Stored brake system faults
• Wheel speed sensor issues
• Communication faults
• Other related brake system abnormalities

* Do NOT Do This

* Professional Insight

* Ryan Automotive Limited Recommendation

That’s a fair preference, but not everyone reading these threads has the same level of automotive knowledge.

Some people want a one-line answer. Others want to understand the reasoning and what mistakes to avoid. I write for both the original poster and the many people who will find the thread later through search.

If you prefer shorter replies, that’s completely fine. You can simply skip mine. The people who find them useful will continue reading them.
