All is not lost for Senegal. The way the World Cup is going and looking at the group standings and upcoming games, 3 points with a negative one or 2 goal difference will likely get you a spot in the round of 32. The bad news for Senegal is that any of the World Cup contenders that they will likely meet in the round of 32 will send them packing.

Senegal is overtly overrated; I don't really see a world-class player on their team. This is a team of mostly average players and players that have seen thier best days. I was not impressed with them in AFCON. I was not impressed with them in the friendly games I saw them play, and it is no surprise to me how they are struggling.

The average USA team was cutting them up and should have scored 5 or 6 in their friendly game against them. I saw them against a terrible Saudi Arabia team, and Saudi actually had better clear-cut opportunities in that friendly draw.
If they go through they’ could face USA, Mexico, Egypt/Belgium, Canada/Switzerland, England, Portugal/Colombia.
I fancy Senegal though
Maybe coming 3rd favours them
Better route
Norway to face Ivory Coast

Messi hater, I sight you. Since the beginning of this WC, it's only Argentina amongst the big teams you have talked down on simply because you don't want Messi to overpower Ronaldo. But thank God, Messi and Argentina already proving you wrong. 2 matches played, 2 wins, 5 goals scored, zero goals conceded and Messi has scored all their 5 goals 🤣
Up next is Jordan, expect another goal from Messi, another win and clean sheet for Argentina
I don't see Messi playing again until the knockouts. Except he decides to risk it for sake of stat padding. The team B can easily dispatch Jordan.

so because they did well at our inaugural edition of the World Cup we are supposed to worship them forever?

The goal wasn't really his fault, the sad part is that this same Algeria and Tunisia usually thrash a lot of sub saharan African teams usually qualifying with over 18 points during the qualifying stages. Look at the eyesore performance they are showing at the world stage

How do you expect the ignorant elf in Blueelf/Darkelf modes to know Cape Verde missed the last Afcon when all he does is browse a little surface info (if at all), cram it and come here to rant. grin

He does not do proper research. He will drop messed up info and blame it on his "big" thumbs later when caught. Lol
Darkelf does have a point even though his abrasive tone tends to overshadow it.

His point that Cape Verde players play with courage is valid. Our players often chicken out.

We didn't lose against DR Congo on footballing terms. We lost because our players were intimidated by the size and sheer physicality of the Congolese.

I was reminded of that seeing the WC training pics of the Congolese today.

I tell you. Those guys never played one single match where they felt intimidated or played without heart and soul.

They suffered many defeats but on footballing terms.

This present crop, you'd sense their fear. I don't know where they picked that from. It's not in our DNA to be afraid or intimidated.

They have no mate in this world cup.. Thanks to their star man they make Fifa a lot of money and Fifa will never throw away their golden goose..

You look at a team like Senegal and you just know there’s a real psychological problem with African teams and it’s not necessarily the fear of European teams.

Something is wrong with us in the head. Probably low racial self esteem
African players dominate European leagues from France to Czech, from England to Hungary playing with and against the best in the world and they still suffer from inferiority?

In a certain sense you are right. If not how can we explain some of these loses.

Na wa.

Wahala lol
Hopefully they’d beat Haiti silly to face Japan instead.
Brazil v Japan
Ivory Coast v Norway (we will see if they do better than Senegal)
Cape Verde need to get 1st or 3rd and not 2nd to avoid Argentina lol.
Japan no good oo. Them too bad. They are fast, strong, determined and even out jump taller opposition.

Maybe when we hear cases of food poisoning,
maltreatment of other teams in North Africa just like club competitions we should take it serious 🤷‍♂️

Algéria won if not
But I don’t think their GD will get them through, Austria will worsen it
They better tie the last game at least to go through

If you watched the match between Ecuador vs Curacao, then you will know that Ivory Coast beating Ecuador 1 nil was nonsense. As bad as Ecuador, ivory Coast could only beat them 1 nil and I'm very sure an average European team in this tournament would beat Ecuador silly. That's to tell you that African teams still have along way to go.
Are you not surprised that in 2026 Moses Simon still can't give accurate crosses of the ball? 🤣
@bold, they will tell you "there's nobody better than him in that position yen yen yen", and I start wondering, how can anybody be worse than Moses Simon in the left wing? I've literally never seen it. Not even with Philip Otele that people were saying he didn't play well in the Unity Cup.

Senegal needs to trash Iraq
The Netherlands, Japan, and Sweden will make it out of this group.

Scotland will put up a fight, but Brazil will still find a way to nick it. Scotland will have 3 points with negative 1 or 2 goals. I think that will be enough for them; Brazil, Morocco, and Scotland will make it out of this group.

Argentina will beat Jordan. The Austria and Algeria game will decide which team finishes second. Argentina, Austria, and Algeria will make it out of this group.

United States. Australia and Paraguay will make it out of this group.

Cape Varde will either draw or beat Saudi Arabia. Spain will beat Uruguay. Spain and Cape Verde make it out of this group.

Belguim will beat New Zealand. The Egypt and Iran game has "draw" written all over it. Belgium, Egypt, and Iran will make it out of this group.

Portugal will comfortably qualify. Three teams in this group will make it to the round of 32. Portugal, Colombia, and Dr. Congo will make it through.

The Czech Republic will lose against Mexico. South Africa will loose against South Korea. Mexico and South Korea will qualify from this group.

Ecuador is tossed. They will lose against Germany, and Ivory Coast will beat Curacao. Germany and Ivory Coast will make it through.

Bosnia will trash Qatar. Bosnia, Switzerland, and Canada will make it out of this group.

Panama will lose against Croatia and England. Ghana will lose against England and Croatia. Ghana's negative goal difference will determine

if they sneaked in or not. I have Ghana out simply because the Ghana team I saw against Panama was bad, and England will run away with a comfortable 3-0 win, and Croatia will beat them 2-0. They will probably end up being at 3 points with negative 4 or 5 goals. Ghana's only path is that they have to get something out of the Croatia game.

Senegal will beat Iraq. France, Norway, and Senegal make it out of this group.

Summary

The eight third-place teams will be

Sweden

Scotland

Algeria

Paraguay

Iran

Dr. Congo

Bosnia

Senegal

You have about 17 AFCON medals, and what you should be worried about is whether you will be able to defeat Cabe Verde or not?

If you go further and include the youth and the women football,it would be over 60 podium finish Nigeria have recorded.
And you still think Nigeria is not a major football nation to compete among the best but to be worried about countries that has never won any major title in their history.
Afcon medals is for Africa and your glorious past is nothing if your current administration is clueless, top African nations (not to talk about European) are participating and winning age group tournaments when these talents mature you'll bring out Afcons won by Okocha, nice try grin

Put Nigeria in this France/Norway group…na the same thing we sef go play…while Chelle will b winning from the sideline, fear fear go dey hold our boys to lose the matches.
Only Osimhen,Bassey and Maybe Frederick will be putting up that agbero performance to try and get something from the game

See as mumu Portugal team played us…see as otele Poland and Jordan denied us a win…By the time dem pocket Iwobi in high intense games like these ones, himself and Osimhen go turn defender

I think many African countries except Morocco are so behind tactically that they use sheer grit, determination and physicality to win Afcon
You need to be on a supreme level tactics wise to win the World Cup, this tournament is exposing African teams
Senegal have to beat Iraq silly to stand a chance to qualify
This is embarrassing
I believe Morocco would have lost to France but not this Norway
Cape Verde could get a draw against almighty Spain meanwhile Senegal couldn’t get anything from Norway smh
Ivory Coast couldn’t get anything from Germany
That means Korea & Japan are ahead of most African teams if you ask me
Last World Cup Japan beat Spain and Germany
Lately they drew Holland
I don dey vex for African teams now…see ehnn even that Morocco you people are calling sef dey jonz….with all their world class display they should be Patching Scotland…
The only African team doing well for the here and now is Egypt, holding Beligium and Flogging a supposed weak team like New Zealand 3-1 and not one meagre 1-0 or 1-1…and then Maybe Capeverde holding big teams like spain and uruguay to a draw…To me those two have been impressive..
I await DRC and Ghana
