Ejuke and.chukwueze offers little to nothing to the current Super Eagles

But it seems we can't get better, thus we are stuck with them. Moses Simon is even worse

And yes, Cabo Verde may defeat the Supwr Eagles in a competitive match

I HAVE MADE MY POINT. LET HE WHO WANTA TO HAVE HIGH BP HAVE IT

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Chelle is already working on it with the introduction of Azeez and co ..we can’t be stuck with Moses and chukwueze for almost 12years of unproductive output and still expect results, chelle sef don tire for dem

D next two players I want serious competition for is ndidi and iwobi …These two players holding our midfield too hasn’t achieved anything together..no trophy,no World Cup appearance (2 in a row) ,let’s ease dem to d bench

Gerd Muller and Mbappe's stats made me scream

Sorry I can't relate with Just Fontaine and 1958 football

I can strongly relate especially because I saw clips of that Tournament and read France and Sweden were among the big favorites at the time and that was the year Pele's World Cup Dominance began at age 17 and the year the world would come to be fully introduced to the boy that became the True GOAT of the sport. The football in 1958 was tough and very competitive.

Philosopher1979:
Yeah you are right.
Morocco in particular. First African team to reach the second round of world cup. 1986. Bouderbala abdilazeez and others
What morocco is doing is not new in a sense.
Morocco knows how to compete globally even though they are just a bit above average in africa.
Despite what Egypt and Cameroon did half a century ago, they seem to have fallen so bad on World Cup stage.

Im looking at the table and na the arab league countries dey bottom of all the group's they're in mostly. Minus Morocco and Algeria.

With how the intensity is weird and low at this World cup, we for dey ball and Osimhen and Lookman will be having the rave Haaland and Odegaard are currently having.

Norway for one reason are making me pissed at Nigeria supporters club. They lack innovation and creativity. Their apk is down the abyss. We've missed two world cups now. NSC faction 1,2 and 3 will still no upgrade their pattern of support. They need Gen Z leaders!! 😂😂

I hope Ghana doesn't disappoint in that group anyway. But for me, Norway and Netherlands look like teams that will reach the final 4. I dunno about Argentina. They don't look tested at the back just yet. Brazil might go farther than Argentina. Messi can't carry that team alone.

I hope this is true following the meeting today between the NSC and The NFF... Chelle to combine Super Eagles and U23s duties in tandem with his assistants...

Breaking News: Eric Chelle Appointed As Nigeria U-23 National Team Coach

Super Eagles Head Coach Eric Chelle has officially resumed duties as head coach of Nigeria's U-23 national team following a strategic decision reached during a high-level meeting held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the National Sports Commission (NSC) headquarters in Abuja, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The meeting was attended by NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko, NSC Director-General Bukola Olopade, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Ibrahim Gusau, NFF General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, and Super Eagles Head Coach Eric Chelle.

The decision is part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria's football development structure and enhance the country's prospects in upcoming U-23 competitions, including qualification campaigns for major international tournaments.

Nigeria's U-23 national team, popularly known as the Dream Team, holds a distinguished place in African football history. The team remains the first African nation to complete the full set of Olympic medals in men's football, winning gold at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, silver at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics.Soccer News

The Dream Team achieved its most celebrated success under Dutch coach Jo Bonfrere in 1996, when Nigeria became the first African country to win Olympic football gold. The team recorded a memorable 4-3 victory over Brazil in the semi-finals, secured by Nwankwo Kanu's famous golden goal, before defeating Argentina 3-2 in a dramatic final to claim the historic title.

While the team's fortunes have fluctuated in subsequent U-23 Africa Cup of Nations campaigns, Nigeria has continued to maintain a strong presence in continental competitions and Olympic qualification tournaments.

With Chelle now overseeing the U-23 side, expectations will be high as Nigeria seeks to build on its rich Olympic football legacy and return to the summit of African and global youth football.

It's not that deep lol. Are you just realizing in 2026 that Ronaldo fans mostly double as Mbappe fans? Something that has been the case for almost ten years now. He reminds us of how explosive Ronaldo used to be on the attack in his younger years, with the aura and personality to match.

Not all of us hate watch Messi btw. Rest.

See that Ndidi and Iwobi ehn, we need replacements for them too, especially iwobi

Our central midfield is too full of DMs with little to no creativity. It's easier to replace Ndidi than it is to replace Iwobi

That's what I said the other time that wr lack a creative central midfielder but oga Kog45 said chelle should figure out how to play without a CAM. The only way I see it is if Chelle uses the wings which is a tactic that becomes easy to figure out

The meeting was held today. So it is indeed true. When I saw it on BSN, I thought my eyes were deceiving me. grin

I am excited especially because not only does this mean, Chelle's contract is renewed, but that all those u23/U21 young talents we clamour for but cant invite all at once to the Super Eagles will finally be able to come together at the U23 level to begin national team integration. It would be far easier for Chelle to upgrade certain positions in the Super Eagles with younger, hungrier high-ceiling talents from the U23s.

This is very good news indeed. All the 'My sources tell me Chelle will resign" where una dey? The U23 job is a master stroke. The U23 job was reduced to a joke under Salisu and Kennedy Boboye. Inviting a player from the English 10th division when Gift Orban was at his peak was criminal on their part. Better days ahead as his salary has been improved and the NSC will pick up the bills of his assistants.

Word on the street is that Eric Chelle is likely leaving before the AFCON Qualifiers. I've done my investigation and close sources are telling me that "you know who" are deeply unsatisfied with Eric Chelle's demands and have no intention to even negotiate, talk less of renewing his contract.

Of course take this with a grain of salt but right now I'm so livid.

48 teams tournament? The animal will file for unfair labour practices by the quarter final.
FiveFootNinja:
The biggest disappointment of this World Cup isn't the football. It's the complete absence of a suspiciously accurate animal predictor. What happened to all those mysterious cats and goats and snakes that used to pop up out of nowhere during international competitions?

We have all this advanced tracking tech and match simulators, yet nobody has thought to consult any prophetic goat so far. Abi na only AFCON dey use am?

But I recall an animal being used at the last WC in Qatar. How am I supposed to make accurate bets this year?

I'm slightly disappointed to be honest.

We have a large pool of U23/U21 foreign based Indigenous born lads in Europe like David Moses, Mubarak Suleiman, Samuel Isife, Emmanuel Ayaosi all at Slavia Praha, John Otomewo, Ridwan Popoola and many more. This is where the U23s come in. Chelle can use the U23s to bring them in.

All these before even looking at Foreign Born options.

Also, this is not an NPFL driven homebased experiment which Chelle had to endure during the CHAN.

We all saw how Chelle brought in lads like Tijani and co for the Unity Cup and still had them play in his diamond system. It was easy on the eyes.

Amedino99:
Given the team's performance in Chan under Chelle, im not that enthusiastic about this. Unless they allow him to recruit FBs into the olympic team. He doesn't look like someone whose football aligns with what our home based players play.

Chelle taking over the U-23 is good news provided he won't be strong-armed into choosing Home-based players by force

Let the vest players be selected and let everyone earn his place

BTW, Nnadi, and the likes who are already in the Senior team and fall within that age bracket should be picked as well
