Good morning @AbelAbdul... Also Congratulations on your study permit. Please when exaxctly was your Medicals sent to IRCC? Also how do we know that it has been sent? Would we be sent an email that it has been sent or our application status will just be updated? I'm becoming a bit apprehensive because I did mine on the of 12th of June and up till now, I haven't seen any update AbelAbdul: |

Hi All, please kindly advise what course is the best to come study in Canada now, I’d like to know for IRCC visa reasons if its best to come study a course related to my masters degree (project management) or a course related to my job as I currently work as a support worker in uk. Secondly I’d like to know which is reasonable a masters or a graduate certificate considering that I already have an MSc, kindly advise pls. |

Mrtrypes:The best course is the course related to your 1st degree or your current career or job. If you apply to a course because its on PR that will be amounted to a ' fake intention which may very possibly affect your visa success. When you enter Canada via study visa and graduated successfully regardless of your course of study then your PR application will open naturally. PR course listing is not permanent so dont apply to a college or University base on PR listings. Phd is your best shot if you love academia or another Msc (STEM) related to your career. |

Good day all, I have a concern about my study permit application submitted 10th of june. There was a lump sum loan repayment of 5m paid into my account by a friend I loaned money in 2025 and refunded in July 2026 after which I printed my statement. Although,my POF is a strong one that covers my tuition and living expenses. I got a gift deed from brother for $25k which was used to open a GIC (22,895 CAD) and 11.4k CAD in my student chequing account. My salary account (that shows my salary and outflow to my savings account), insurance investment (4m), savings account (11m), then sponsor's employment letters and other docs form my POF. My major concern is that I did not explain that 5m that came into my savings account but I opened a web link, attached the evidenced statements of periods and explained the inflow. Hope it won't be a problem in my visa approval. |

ColdHunter:There should be option of partners with the school payment gateway. In my case there was an option of pay by bank transfer with the payment gateway partners with the school but was expensive, then I paid into their Globus bank as required. I paid 5.692m for 5k CAD |

Your decision should depend on your career goals. You can choose either option, but it should align with the path you want to pursue. Consider questions like: Do you have experience in project management? Is your first degree related to your current job? These are factors an IRCC officer may evaluate when assessing your visa application. Although study permit applications are intended to be assessed under dual intent, pursuing a graduate certificate after already completing a master’s degree may be viewed as academic regression and as a way of just coming to Canada. In most cases, the minimum level you should target is a master’s degree, anything lower could raise concerns. If your goal is to stay in Canada after your studies, it’s essential to apply to a program that is eligible for a PGWP. If a program is not currently on the PGWP-eligible list, it is unlikely to be added soon. Be strategic in your program selection, as choosing the wrong one could make you ineligible for both PGWP and permanent residence pathways. Mrtrypes: |

ColdHunter:Use grey.co. Popular amongst remote workers in Nigeria who use it to receive their salary in FX from foreign employers. Grey is registered in Canada as well and even have an office there and you can transfer from your USD, EUR or GBP virtual account straight to a Canadian account. Best you contact their customer care email first to understand how to do it properly and they do KYC before you can use their services. Do your online research about them first abeg! And do as the spirit leads. |

ColdHunter:Write to the school. That you are in Nigeria and is restricted in payment option. |

Ifymoto:The QLife said my medical would be sent within 10 business days. I did it 8th June and was sent 12th June and my portal was updated 13th June and final decision was made 17th June. Neither IRCC or the hospital would send you a mail. IRCC would only update your portal concerning your medical.

Mrtrypes:What I am going to Canada to study is not related to what I did in my first degree. It is slightly related to what I am doing as my current job. I was scared my application won't be approved but it was. |

Once you have applied (or if you have already applied), please upload proof of your study permit application to your Dashboard account under the “Study Permit” requirement. If this documentation is not received by July 1, you may risk losing your seat. I got this email from my school, i re applied for the visa April 20th after being denied around feb ending before, now i need less than 1 week now ,if i dont get it after july 1st, will the school return my tuition deposit? |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by AbelAbdul: 12:37am On Jun 25 |
Great1tech:The school wants to be sure that you have applied for your study permit else you might lose your spot and it would be given to someone else. You said you were denied in Feb and you re-applied Apr. Upload a proof that you have applied for study permit to your school dashboard account where you have the "Study Permit" section. If you delay till July 1st, you might lose your spot. So do it right away. |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by AbelAbdul: 12:42am On Jun 25 |
Great1tech:The school is not saying that if your visa is not approved before July 1st you will lose your spot. The school is saying 'if you do not apply for the study permit after July 1st, you might lose your place'. Since you have applied before the deadline (You applied Apr, deadline July 1st) what you need to do is to prove to the school that you have applied. To do this, upload a proof that you have applied for your study permit. Upload it to your school acct dashboard. |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by AbelAbdul: 12:45am On Jun 25 |
Great1tech:Before you apply to schools, the first thing you should ask the school should be if your money would be refunded if your study permit is refused. If the school say 'yes;, ask them if it's the full payment you made or part of it. From their response you know whether to apply for admission with them or not. |

I want to get an accommodation off-campus and one of the requirements is that I must have a guarantor who is either a US or Canadian citizen. Who has experienced this and how did you go about it? |
