A Lagos-based security operative, Adebanjo Samuel, has been commended for displaying exceptional integrity after returning a customer’s misplaced $9,100 while on duty at a First City Monument Bank branch in Marina, Lagos.

The incident, which occurred on May 25, 2026, was confirmed in a statement issued by Proton Security Service Limited to PUNCH Metro on Tuesday.

According to the company, Adebanjo’s action has further reinforced confidence in the discipline, professionalism, and integrity of personnel deployed across its client locations.

The statement partly read, “Adebanjo has been hailed as a true hero, showing that something great can still come out of here.”

“In recognition of this outstanding conduct, Proton Security has announced plans to host a special civic reception at its corporate headquarters.

“During the event, Adebanjo will be formally honoured and rewarded for his exemplary display of integrity. The occasion will bring together colleagues, family members, friends, industry stakeholders, and representatives of the media in celebration of a remarkable act of honesty,” the statement added.

His honesty should be recorded not just awarded we need people like him in the society.
If he's encouraged many will join him.

If it's bbnaija now we'll be hearing house endorsement deals, cars, travelling arrangements.

This guy should be given a job if possible a political assignment. But No they'll not see people like this to give something useful.

I want to hear some good things about this fellow in future not just today. We still have good people in Nigeria no matter the type of jobs some people cannot take more than what they have worked for God bless him.

what about those that steal...it's not about camera he can easily get away with it. Most at times if you visit some of those banks you'll know it's not everywhere that have good camera a good person is a good person for me I'm thinking he must have been doing it before but God decided to use this one to honour him.

Not just honorable but a courageous act. The temptations these days is beyond human comprehension. For some cameras aren't enough to stop them from stealing because hunger can drive one several miles. He must truly be a honest person on a good day

I agree. Integrity is often tested when no one is watching, especially during difficult times. Choosing to do the right thing despite the temptation says a lot about a person's character.

Great job there. A cleaner once stole a bundle of money in my Bank, when everyone was questioned, she denied, my BM concluded a sack for whoever was found to have committed the offence, when everyone had closed, the IT guy played the CCTV footage for us, by morning she rushed to return the money, it was already too late as we have concluded to sack here, I gave her a sacked letter.

Definitely the security camera did not cover the position. The money probably fell off inside the toilet or a tiny corner that the camera did not cover and no one else noticed. The security man saw it and picked it up, protected it and handed it over to the bank. He preserved his integrity, that of his own organization and the bank. He showed that the bank where he is posted to has integrity.
