Not easy registering on Stanbic for equity/ mutual fund, those doing it are trying. 1m otps to confront.

With 18.5% minimum annual interest from mutual fund or fixed deposit just know you make 1/3 of your invested capital every 2 yrs( even after 10% WHT is deducted). You double your capital in 5 yrs, so ensure you are more intentional/ strategic with nothing less than 18.5% annual interest.
Is the 18.5% net of WHT?
Re: Mutual Funds by yorke1: 4:16pm On Jun 23
Yield matters. It's hard to stay excited about a 15% Money Market Fund when GT Fund Managers is offering 17.23% as of today. Stanbic IBTC needs to do better.

I don't know why their rate is falling like this.
Na to port to another platform

I've been tracking both funds for some time, and I've finally moved to GTB Fund Managers. As an investor, you have to follow value where it consistently shows up.
Re: Mutual Funds by Nakedman: 5:51pm On Jun 23
Stanbic rate is shit. They are banking on their reputation, so they decide to give low rates. Graceful MFs. Can anyone suggest another assets management that's better in terms of customer service and withdrawals.
Re: Mutual Funds by emmasoft(m): 6:04pm On Jun 23
Harddiskng:
@emmasoft, money market rates displayed by stanbic IBTC, are they net of WHT?
Rates displayed are net of all charges (Management fees). The WHT has already been taken from the underlying asset - Tbills and CPs.

Hence, what is displayed is what gets to the investor.

For Firms that display gross, it's expected that it be stated as required by the SEC. For example, you will notice that for those using GT Fund managers, under the rates displayed, a note is written stating that the rate displayed is gross, which is the standard practice.

Just know that 18.5% annual interest minimum is stated...... They will normally later remove 10% withholding tax, you will still get 1/3rd of your capital every 2 yrs and in 5 yrs make back your capital invested.

18.5% GROSS

Okay. But a good number of investors are still using Stanbic IBTC Mutual funds.
Accessibility by FAMILY to any investment account I have is IMPORTANT to me in case of emergency or any other reason, unless after the rigors of opening it , it thereafter becomes easier to use. It's not easy to have an investment hard to access by family which will now prompt them to go the formal way of producing several documents to claim what is theirs when they can just either email( through my email) the company or access the online account to withdraw or transfer out money.

In my short experience so far, I have realised that MMF is not meant to make you rich. it's there to reduce or stop inflation from eating up your savings. So It shouldn't be used as a major source of income or to replace your job except you have 500m+ in it. it's just a tool against inflation. If you have this same mentality, you won't be worried about how long it takes you to double your money(interest) rather you will be grateful your savings isn't loosing value.

“1/3rd of your capital every 2 yrs and in 5 yrs” in other words, you are telling us the net is around 15%

72/15 = 4.8 (time it’s takes to make the same amount of interest as your capital).

It is not different from a regular Stanbic or First Asset MMF.

I don't understand how your family members will have access to your fund. Can you please elaborate. How do you do that?

Intentional COMPOUNDING makes the difference:

5m or 10m Naira in 5 yrs is N10m or N20m

Nope:

18.50%
- 1.85%
------------
16.65%

The 10m you are getting in 5yrs time is the actual value of your money within that period. The same way 100k of 5yrs ago is almost equivalent to 1m in today's valuation. So in essence, you are not making any profit (interest), you are just avoiding loss of value. In otherwords, fighting inflation.

Good day everyone.

Please I need the contact of someone i can reachout to in United Capital to get my issues resolved.

I transferred mistakenly into their Stable Income fund Account instead of the MMF since last week Thursday. I have written mails and called their customer service line, they kept saying my fund will be moved into my MMF account in the next 24hr... its over a week now.

Please I need help with someone I can reach out to. I didnt know they are these bad.

I think this applies to most investments in general. If you want significant returns, the capital too has to be huge. The relationship between risk and return is well known, but atimes is oversimplified. You could have high risk and decent returns…or none at all. And when you factor in the time wasted, the net of upsides and downsides may not outperform steady returns of fixed incomes that much. However, I quite agree you need a good base to get something out of MMF. Although it doesn’t have to be anywhere close to your stated amount.

At the end of the day “rich” is a relative term…and it’s personal to each individual. What matters is you get your math right and be disciplined at it.
