CharlesCNG:You sound so enlightened and mature. It is mature people like you I love to deliberate important national political issues with, not the typical APC supporters who lack manners and are usually filled with arrogance. Thank you for being so different, mature and reasonable in your response, keep it up. To your response....I am never against State Police, I am only concerned about some key issues that will arise and undermine the end goal which is to make Nigeria safer and more secure and reason I made the below suggestions and wished it could be considered by the incumbent President and federal government to ensure the main goal of ending insecurity in Nigeria is achieved at the end of the day. If my below recommendations are not done before implementation of state Police, state Police will fail in improving security in Nigerian states as we all expect. There will be clash of power and interest between the state and federal Police and between the state Police and Nigerian Army just as we see between the army and Police that are not even doing the same job. 1.) Make it compulsory that every Federal Commissioner of Police and all heads of tactical teams and formations under Federal Police command in any Nigerian state must be indigenes of that state where they are posted or working. 2.) Every Commanding Officer of every military cantonment in any state in Nigeria must be an indigene of that state. 3.) Every Director of DSS in every state in Nigeria must be indigene of that state. 4.) Every Civil Defense Corps Boss in any Nigeria state must be an indigene of that state. I am recommending this to be done first before implementing state Police to avoid sabotage and clash of interest between the State Police and other federal security agencies like Federal Police, Army, and even Civil Defense Corps. I am making this recommendation based on years of intelligence report on how Fulani herdsmen terrorists and militants operate in every Nigerian state, with locals accusing the Nigerian army of protecting Fulani herdsmen militants after they attack a community. With my recommendation, both State Police, Federal Police, Civil Defense and Army will work in tandem to secure their state of jurisdiction knowing it is also their indigenous state, so they won't be protecting any group of violent criminals just because they are people from his ethnic divide or religion. My recommendation will pave way for a more effective and successful State Police operation. |

DomPerignon:The emphasis is on non-automatic weapons. AK-47 is a military grade weapon and it is automatic weapon. State police are not allowed to carry automatic weapons. There is a subsisting act know as the Firearms Act that prohibit states from procuring and arming any group or security outfits with automatic assault rifles like AK-47 and the state police blueprint is remaining that act. |

CharlesCNG:So, stating facts about my state is an insult? Or is it that you want to dispute my point that we do not pay teachers? A state that can not "cut its coat according to its size and capacity" to pay teachers will not cut anything to pay state police. And that's apart from the fact that, ọmọ ti a ko kọ (because teachers are not paid) lo ma gbe ile baba rẹ ta by becoming the bandits your state police. I am from the Orolu Kingdom of Ifon Osun. Curse me as much as your heart desires, please. |

budaatum:You mean you are not afraid of a curse from an Ijesha man? As an Orolu man from Ifon-Osun, are you relying on Obatala to neutralise it? 😂 Anyway, my brother, I am only joking. God forbid that I curse anyone from my beloved Osun State. By the way, are you on ground in Osun right now? What do you think will happen in the coming governorship election? Can I safely assume you are with our Action Governor? The interesting thing is that, whichever way it goes, APC and Tinubu may still win. If Adeleke wins, Tinubu wins — because he may eventually find his way to APC. If AMBO wins, APC wins directly and Tinubu wins openly. So, either by express road or village path, the destination may still be the same. What do you think? I am not on ground, so I may be right and I may be wrong. But from where I am standing, Osun politics is beginning to look like a match where both goalposts are quietly facing the same direction. |
| Re: State Police Not Allowed To Carry AK-47 by budaatum: 1:48pm On Jun 26 |
CharlesCNG:I am not afraid of any curses really because they are like pisses in the wind as far as I am concerned. And no, I'm unfortunately not on ground and haven't been for a while. I've been threatened to be arrested and deported before some rogue family members kidnap me. As is said, kokoro ti o un jẹ ẹfọ wa lara ẹfọ, and I can't boldly claim there's no bandits in my family. But I do keep in touch with the ground as much as I can. What I have heard is that state civil servants are behind the current governor whatever party he campaigns under, as he is paying wages that have not been paid in the past. And since the major employer in the state is government, they are strongly behind him. It's in no way a done deal though. As for Tinubu, and despite my undying Obidience for now, I can not see how he could possibly lose the next presidential election, as Obi is not exactly organising us well enough to win, sadly. Besides, Tinubu has done some things (floating Naira, abolishing subsidy, increasing taxation, and being an accountant), that though have increased financial difficulty for many, are likely to move Nigeria forward, which I feel discerning Nigerians will appreciate in due time. Now, if he were to abolish youth corpers or redesign it so it stops being a wage suppressor, I just might become disobedient, but I do not see that anywhere on the radar for now. |

designking:But the Bandits and Herdsmen are publicly allowed to carry AK47? |
| Re: State Police Not Allowed To Carry AK-47 by Fujiyama: 2:37pm On Jun 26 |
budaatum:^^^ The point is - discerning Nigerians have seen right through the charade. (And for the record...his being an 'accountant' carries absolutely no weight.) BAT has floated the Naira, abolished subsidy, increased taxation etc. - but he has done nothing, absolutely nothing about public sector reform. This is just like fetching water in a basket - a wasteful and ultimately futile endeavour. You recognize the uncertainty that clouds BAT's so-called reforms, hence your use of the term 'likely' - in describing positive future outcomes. But we have gone past that. The prognosis is bleak, full stop. BAT abolished fuel subsidy. But did he (or didn't he) pay hajj subsidy? What's the point?Foreign debt continues to climb under BAT - in exactly the same manner foreign debt rose during the SAP years of the 1980s. The SAP years scarred an entire generation - and many never recovered. The military dictatorship of that era had the same mentality (that BAT has) of an imbalance of sacrifice: ordinary Nigerians were compelled to tighten their belts while the military rulers of the time - fed fat and lived large. We are going down that path again.BAT's chief of staff yesterday floated the kite of another upward review of the minimum wage. So...in two years the minimum wage under BAT has to go up yet again...to keep pace with inflation. This is bad economic management - and there is no other name for it.BAT's 'reforms' are similar to the economic 'reforms' carried out by Russia in the 1990s after the fall of the USSR - reforms that ended up being no reforms at all. The final result for Russia was textbook crony capitalism with a small clique of billionaire oligarchs controlling both the politics and the economics of their country. Did the so called 'reform' work out well for the majority of ordinary Russians? Of course not. So how can it work here? |

Fujiyama:Compared to soldiers that have carried guns to rule us since my birth, him being an accountant carries much weight with me, but please, if like me you don't want him, perhaps vote for my Obi, because I personally can not stand Atiku, and I've had enough of APC. Thanks in advance.

Your state now take time four of her monthly allocation under Buhari, what's stoping the dancing king from paying teachers? budaatum: |
| Re: State Police Not Allowed To Carry AK-47 by Fujiyama: 3:00pm On Jun 26 |
budaatum:^^^ ![]() You are invested in the political process - and I like it. Democracy isn't a spectator sport. There are people who complain on this platform 24/7 but who will do absolutely nothing to change things. They won't vote. They won't organize. They won't contest. And they are surprised that the lives of all of us remain miserable. There are several parties other than the APC. Some of these parties have begun to engage Nigerians in this season - and our political space will be better for it. I for one will not be voting for any APC candidate (at any level) in the next election. I am taking a hard look at the other parties to see what they have to offer. I have no other country to call my own except this one. |

Idaytesj29:The money is not enough after we steal what we steal. Besides, we have problems in my state whereby a rogue APC government is collecting our allocation and are using it for their own selfish needs. Notwithstanding, our dancing king is paying the salary of those currently hired plus the arrears from that useless Aregbe's era. One day, we go better. |

budaatum:Pay teachers or have no teachers at all because the schools will be empty if children are being kidnapped. What are the things important to you? I would suspect these are the things you would focus on. |
| Re: State Police Not Allowed To Carry AK-47 by budaatum: 3:11pm On Jun 26 |
Fujiyama:Less than 10 million elected Tinubu out of the almost 100 million who registered to vote, while the rest sat on their lazy asses and couldn't be bothered. They are now wailing that they are hungry. Such irresponsibility makes me lack sympathy for them, and my hope is that we have learnt by the next election. Please, for anyone that pleases you, just vote.

| Re: State Police Not Allowed To Carry AK-47 by budaatum: 3:18pm On Jun 26 |
ElSudani:Children have not been kidnapped in my Orolu Kingdom yet, while not hiring teachers and paying them has been going on for decades. The consequence is that my own people who now have no education or skills are becoming bandits and kidnapping people. So, yes, paying teachers is very more important to me as far as my Orolu Kingdom is concerned, because children we do not educate are the ones who will become bandits and kidnap people. See it as attacking the same problem at the root instead of at its head.

CharlesCNG:I actually see incivility as our biggest problem. We use it to hide our lack of knowledge instead of understanding and admitting to ourselves that we can not possibly know all. An ego thing, I reckon. It's just a pity I often fail, and therefore make our problems bigger. Thank you more Charles. Your iron sharpened my iron and made me a better me. |

Of course they'll carry Ak-47, Ak-49, etc. including latest model of machine guns and assault rifles. They will even have armoured tanks and fighter jets depending on the capacity of the State. Terrorism will be fought to a stand still once State Police is implemented. Security business is serious business.. there is no room for chances. |

designking:Breaking News! A new test has been discovered for public policy. Not whether it is constitutional. Not whether it will reduce crime. Not whether governors have demanded it for years. Just one question: "Will Tinubu benefit politically?" If the answer is yes... Reject. Suspend. Postpone. Demarket. The policy is guilty until Tinubu leaves office. That is not opposition. That is reflexive politics. |
