If Nigerians 🇳🇬 are rushing to the UK 🇬🇧, Brits are relocating to Canada 🇨🇦, Canadians are crossing into the US 🇺🇸, and some Americans are moving to the Caribbean 🌴... then who is actually sitting comfortably at home anymore? 🤔https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1E9xC8skLS/

How does one determine if JAPA is the right move? It comes down to a few key questions. -Ultimately, Japa is neither inherently good nor bad. It is simply a choice that can lead to prosperity or hardship, depending on the circumstances surrounding the move. -The key is to ensure that it is a move made from a place of knowledge, preparedness and clarity, rather than desperation or misguided assumptions. The grass may indeed be greener on the other side, but only if you have the right tools to cultivate it. "Japa and the Choice Between Opportunity and Struggle." |

This is exactly why I laugh when some Nigerians say, "Just leave Nigeria and all your problems are over." Every country has its own headache. The difference is that in many developed countries, the system still works even when people complain. In Nigeria, many people are not just running from hardship; they're running from a system that makes ordinary life unnecessarily difficult. Nobody leaves family, culture, weather and home just because they want adventure. Most Nigerians are looking for stable electricity, security, healthcare, jobs that pay fairly, and a government that keeps its promises. So yes, the UK has a cost-of-living crisis. Canada has a housing crisis. America has political division. But Nigerians have inflation, insecurity, poor infrastructure, unreliable power, unemployment, and weak public services, all at once. If Nigeria fixed the basics, millions of Nigerians wouldn't even think about relocating. We don't want another country's passport; we want our own country to work. People don't always migrate to perfect countries. They migrate to countries that offer them a better chance than where they are. |

Racoon:The difference nis that African go for survival while other countries mentioned are doing so for tourism. Not every migration is japa. Before japa there was tourism. |

Racoon:This is an investment in a second passport as entrepreneurs now think globally and strategically. Owning another passport is a flex for greater opportunities. Also, success means different things to different people. Take the world cup for instance: some are happy to have qualified to be there. Others are happy to enter the knockout stages. While some other, if they go home without the trophy, they have been unsuccessful. Nigeria the giant of Africa has a passport that can take you to at most 46/47 countries and Africa has 54 countries! So, if anyone goes to the UK and bags a passport that can take them and their future generations to at least 180 countries, how them is that an illusion? |
| Re: JAPA; The Global Illusionary Search For A Better Life & Economic Opportunities? by eepeepook: 7:06pm On Jun 26 |
It is not an illusion in the eight cases I know. These write-ups are normally created by people who successfully japa and are busy reaping the benefits. I see them as entertainment and nothing else. |

Others migrate to send money back home to build their countries. Nigerians japa only for things to get worse than where they left it. From those who traveled in the 70s to date, instead of the abroad money being able to be their second option, they find out that everyone is dependending on them as things are bad at home. The government has assaulted them home and away with bad management of the economy and social welfare. Shame. |

At least one thing is sure: no one dey japa come Nigeria |
| Re: JAPA; The Global Illusionary Search For A Better Life & Economic Opportunities? by femi4: 7:43pm On Jun 26 |
Racoon:You got the context wrong. Nigerians are moving in their thounsands, borrowing to fund the move with no hope of returning. On the other hand, the movement of citizens from developed country from one Country to another isnt fuel by desperation or selling off their properties to finance the trip |
| Re: JAPA; The Global Illusionary Search For A Better Life & Economic Opportunities? by Inspirer1: 7:44pm On Jun 26 |
It's a rarity seeing someone come back to Nigeria from the UK or US because of "high taxes"....they'd rather move to another developed country and that itself tells us that there and real challenge is here, Nigeria. |
| Re: JAPA; The Global Illusionary Search For A Better Life & Economic Opportunities? by Olatoman(m): 8:00pm On Jun 26 |
Racoon:I’ll say it’s necessary to look at some of the perspectives. A Nigerian leaves for the yonder to better his life as best as he cans. Could be via the opportunities that his field gives, enabling him to partake in a more developed nations Uk citizens leaving for dubai, Canada or US could be for a better opportunity to earn more income, likely people in the medical field. But there’s a difference between someone who leaves Nigeria vs one who leaves the Uk The dysfunctions and anyhowness of Nigeria is what someone from Nigeria leaves, certain levels of wealth can protect from some, but not all. Take for example, you set up a solar inverter system to protect against power cuts. Or even register your kids at top schools cause you don’t trust the quality of public schools. Now compare that to one who is leaving from Uk to the US, he’s never had to worry about power cuts, he expects some level of orderliness in the new country as compared to where’s coming from. Certain basic things that make a society function and give everyone a level playing field sort of exists. Someone leaving the US for cheaper countries might simply because tax and cost of living is higher, and being a digital nomad, he can work remotely and maximize his earnings by staying in a relative cheaper country. Say Indonesia for example, a Briton might decide to move their cause his job allows that kind of flexibility. His purchasing power is higher than the average local thanks to the exchange rate. Obviously there would be different reasons for anyone emigrating. Just different externalities exist for certain nations. |

The real flex is "JAPADA" Come back a financially sovereign man. Anybody that was able to buy $10,000 Nvidia stocks by 2020 would be sitting on at least $2.5 million dollars today. You come back to Nigeria and invest it in treasury bills it will pay you $35,000 every month. Thats approx 40 million Naira every month in Nigeria. Why the hell do you need to JAPA and leave in another mans land forever ?? |
| Re: JAPA; The Global Illusionary Search For A Better Life & Economic Opportunities? by AcadaWriter0: 8:41pm On Jun 26 |
Absolutely! It’s a fantastic idea. It’s all about the right opportunities, of course. And it’s undeniably appealing. |
