But our guys effed up. Easy qualifying group oo. They just bungled everything. Imagine the overwhelming support Nigerians in the US would have given our boys.

The pain is painful

I don’t like the idea of a female referee officiating men match. She did well though, it just doesn’t sit well with me.
People keep shouting that we are in a patriarchy.

Na lie. The patriarchy has been dismantled. The matriarchy is in charge now. People don't know because they see men heading organisations. But the men are acting out of a feminine frame. Gradually even these men will be phased out and women will run everything.

Brave New World

The longest time EVER between a player's first and latest World Cup goal:

-C. Ronaldo: 20 years and 11 days
-L. Messi: 20 years and 11 days

We'll never see anything like this ever again 🐐🐐

Source: Sofascore.

Extras:

Oldest player to score a WC Hattrick - Messi vs Algeria at 38 (2026 WC).
Previous oldest hattrick scorer - C.Ronaldo vs Spain at 33 in 2018 WC.

Oldest player to score a WC brace - C.Ronaldo vs Uzbekistan at 41 (2026 WC).
Previous oldest brace scorer - Messi vs Austria at 38 in 2026 WC
Is Ronaldo 3 years older than Messi?

Breaking: Haaland does NOT START today. MBAPPE STARTS.

The Classic we all were expecting wont happen the way we expected. Norway seems to concede they will be second in the group anyway but Mbappe chases WC Goals History and another Golden Boot.

Many go just dey blame our players as if it is easy, most of our players especially Nigeria born are from poor homes,so money is the motivational factor....

I can say much about Awoniyi Taiwo, yes his Dad was a prison officer, not top or mid officer but low cadre, his mum petty trader, struggling for survival,so money is just the factor in any of their decisions, saw Okocha recently in Benz GT63 2023 model meaning he got it right financially.........Taiwo Awoniyi was in town recently and a locsl journalist asked him,why not big big cars cuz he preffered using relatively old Sienna anytime in town, his replied was simple, buying 500m to a billion naira car,my papa go flog me o.

It is like blaming anyone that left what we perceived as a good job here for hustling job in US,UK or Canada, what matter most in this life is how you secure your family future financially, nothing more.....a friend of mine years back left banking job as a branch manager to Canada, when asked why,he said anytime he wake up he always crying for his children cuz he was failing as a father and only way out for him who is from poor home is to secure their future,he left and his happy for that decision.

This players are humans and they need to secure their futures financially cuz at the end we would asked them what do they used their money for aftet retiring.

Thompson Oliha dead with no money,he came to Ilorin as assistant to Westerhoff in KFA but guess what, nothing,he was broke and i asked him why,he said he did not had fulfilled financial club career like others, depression killed him, always smoking, drinking heavily...I have many ex footballers as friends and i can tell you it is not easy for them financially, some got addicted to drugs, some die cus depression and what caused it is wronged financial decision...now i do not blame players who chooses money cuz poverty na bad thing o
That’s why I will never join those blaming osihmen on his decision to go to turkey. Football is just a short span career! Once you stopped playing either due to injury or retirement omo you’re on your own. Our players especially those who are not foreign born are already at a disadvantage once their careers end cos there is no social safety net in Nigeria to fall back to unlike their foreign born counterparts who can fall back to the social safety net of their adopted European countries. This is also why many of our players especially the ones who are not foreign born also chose to remain in a particular country till they become citizens even if it’s to play in lower divisions and solidify their residency so they can also enjoy all the social benefits of their adopted country. So when I see players make certain decisions about their careers I understand why!

Small correction, Osimhen didn't go to Turkey for money, he went there to save his career. Remember Napoli had frozen him out of the team. That aside, I agree with you sir.

Good point on the Citizenship talk. I recently read of a Naija player who refused to renew his contract at a club just outside Finland coz he is chasing Finnish Citizenship (he is married to a Finnish Lady). So now he seeks a club in Finland.

There were other options if he had consented to wages or salary cut.

True but after he said no, Napoli were just going to freeze him out, he had no options again. It was common knowledge that he had been frozen out, so most negotiators would try to milk the situation to their advantage as they thought he had no choice which he didn't seem to have then. But Osimhen coconut head and Baba God created a way.

Abegi, make we hear word. We keep using this emotional poverty argument to excuse players making ridiculous transfer moves to obscure clubs. Even worse, you've woefully misapplied that argument here. Nobody is disputing that players deserve financial security, the criticism is about WHICH financial decision. Venezia is a freshly-promoted Serie A side, which means genuine relegation risk unless they perform well above expectation, which is not always the case for newly relegated teams. Newly promoted teams 7-8 times out of 10 get relegated back to where they came from. Long term, it's not a viable choice. Moving to bigger clubs means moving to the bigger stage, which in turn means bigger future contracts, bigger sponsorships, bigger leverage. So choosing short-term wages at a smaller club over long-term market value growth is itself a poor financial decision.
Feel free to have sympathy for a player's background, but please let's stop trying to make questionable career calculations suddenly look wise.

Please if you’re close to super eagles players or other Nigerian players you know especially those originally born in Nigeria advise them especially if they had huge numbers in terms of money to buy citizenship or residency in countries that offer it. For example from 800,000 dollars you can get a US green card by investment and there are some countries especially in the Caribbean that also give citizenship by investment that can make them have access to many countries visa free and other immigration pathways. No be only to Dey buy cars and properties and vibing in night clubs here and there. The huge money they are making now should be used to also solidify their tomorrow to ensure their social security.

We watching France vs Norway or Senegal vs Iraq? That Norway XI has completely ruined the vibes. Rather watch Senegal to see if they can salvage their position in this World Cup.

Senegal XI: Diaw, Diatta, Seck, Niakhate, Jakobs, Gueye, Diarra, Camara, Mbaye, Sarr, Mane.

🇮🇶 Iraq XI: Basil, Putros, Sulaka, Hashem, Doski, Al-Ammari, Qasem, Iqbal, Bayesh, Jasim, Al-Hamadi.

What exactly does Mamadou Sarr and Illman Ndiaye need to do to get a start for Senegal?

At Mane’s age, he should be striking for Senegal, he’s got amazing movement in the box and is clinical, good in the air too, he doesn’t need to be tracking back now. Senegal to win 4-2 Iraq. Cheering for the African side in this precarious situation.

At just 17 years and 253 days old, Gilberto Mora became the youngest player to start a men's FIFA World Cup match for Mexico.

He is the sixth youngest starter in FIFA World Cup history.

Femi Opabunmi of Nigeria (Golden Eaglets Class of 2001) stays 2nd youngest in history.
Ibrahim Mbaye is now the Youngest player to start a Men's FIFA World Cup Match for Senegal and the 5th Youngest African to do so.
