GTBank Customer Cries Out After Being Told His 3 ATM Cards Are Compromised by AnonPoet(op): 11:44pm On Jun 26
After my complaint regarding persisting unauthorized debit alerts from @gtbank I got this email today.

Over N200k gone but I will consult my legal counsel on what to do. I have also concluded to close down the account because I strongly believe this happened for so long because of GTbank’s negligence.

What I still can’t understand is this: if I changed my debit card about three different times, how did the same “local WEB” merchant keep getting access to my new card details each time?

Every time I replaced my card, the unauthorised debits continued. That raises serious questions about how my card details were being updated or tokenised without my knowledge.

At some point, the responsibility goes beyond telling customers their card details were compromised. Banks also have a duty to investigate why replacing a card repeatedly failed to stop the same fraudulent transactions.

After three card replacements and months of complaints, I’ve lost confidence in GTBank’s ability to protect my account. See you on Monday to formally close the account for good.

You should have closed the account a long time ago, only two unauthorized debits should have made close the account

This is truly a painful experience and can easily make one lose confidence in the banking

Sorry about that. Use opay to save your funds. All these traditional banks just decieves customers with names

I tell people that Segun Agbaje (The Fake James Bond) is a fraudulent cretin. He licenses all his vehicles with “007” while defrauding customers of their hard-earned money.

When Innocent Chukwuma (IVM) raised the alarm that GTBank was stealing from him, I did not believe him until I started noticing money disappearing from my GTBank account without any explanation or narration.

I never for once visited their Bank to demand explanations (for my stilen monies) because I knew that all their staffs have been programmed to use grammar to scatter whatever enquiry or complaints you may come up with.

I am only consoled & comforted in the assurance that GTBank will eventually be auctioned at “Gbanjo” for all my money that was stolen and used to fund the stupid luxurious lifestyle of the “Fake James Bond”.

The only Bank that is worse than GTBank in Nigeria is Access Bank and its GMD (Wigwe) is currently rotting in the Abyss for all my stolen monies; remaining all the member of their “Board of Directors” including all their children & family members.

Don't just go there and close the account. Go there to create an interesting scene, trust me, you'll know what has been happening to the account in split seconds.

It's a really big shame how GTbank has fallen sha. They really used to be like a Techy brand for banking.

All these werey dey debit shege for my empty account, sms charges for sms wey dem no dey send, and put my account on negative.

Their app looks smart, but me nor put shishi there again. And with matters like this na to kukuma close am.

Here's a strategy I use:
1. Don't get an atm card on your main account (any Bank at all). Only the app, turn on password and two-factor authentication - for any payments transfer for your fintech apps like opay and the rest.

2. Don't activate USSD code or internet banking either on your main account.

It is called family fraud.

Someone close to you is getting your card details.

Or you are regularly sending one boy in the area to buy you beer and ciga with your card

Or like my dad (who is now late) you write your pin everywhere. When we were sorting through his things we found his pin in multiple diaries. The old school way. Or saved as a number in your phone. I have my pins saved behind a passworded app.

I had a boss who back in the day was always sending us to the atm with his card. One day we got a youth corper who ironically was a politicians son. The guy used the card details for some online transactions. It caused a real fuss because there were TWO youth corpers and we did not know which one was responsible.

And the guys senior sister was in internal control and audit. Very embarrassing for her. Basically the guy tossed a career for his thieving habits.

Re: GTBank Customer Cries Out After Being Told His 3 ATM Cards Are Compromised by igatit:
Gtbank is known for been finicky with their customers fund. I experienced same thing once. All I did was to block my sms alert. Once you do that, they become confined to their space.

After a while I notice, the sms alert I blocked started working again. I did not waste time. I went to the nearest branch and demanded why they should enable an authorization I have disabled. The customer care wanted to play a fast one on me by saying, there's no record I blocked my sms alert at any time.

Little did he know, I had made a copy of the indemnity form I filled to disable the sms alert. So I showed him the indemnity from my phone. He could not talk much again. I made sure a serious scene was created before I left the banking hall. He immediately disabled the sms alert.

Since then, the issue never happened again. Even though I have stopped using the account. To avoid story that will touch the heart. They can not be trusted.

The phone number tied to your bank account is the biggest asset you have to control your transactions. Once you take it off their hand. The nonsense stops immediately.

It could be his child or someone close to him. Out of millions of customers, why judge the whole bank because of one person? Don't come online to damage the reputation of a well-established business over a simple mistake. GTBank has been serving customers across Africa for years and has built a strong reputation.

You may have an info stealer malware on your device.

Try another bank card or another person's GTBank card to check this. If it happens to these new cards then its obviously your device.

Or flash your device and try a new card.

But what am I even saying. How can I be asking you to risk more money?

Anyway whatever you do try flash your device too.

I had similar issue when I got debited twice. I lost ₦60k plus, and when I contacted their customer care, I got the same response.
What I don't understand is that whenever I input my card details to make an online payment, an OTP code is always required, but a thief with my card details just withdraws my money without me receiving any code. How?
