GloriousGbola:Not necessarily Bro. That's old school. I strongly suspect that his ACCOUNT is the one that is compromised via his PHONE! That way, even if he changes cards a million times, his money will still disappear. As a rule, mind the source and type of apps you install on your phone plus be careful who has access to play around with your phone. |

symbianDON:True that. Also why banking apps will not work on rooted phones. I don't do pirated apps anymore, but if I did I would not run them on my daily driver. Could even be something as simple as buying a used phone or device and failing to wipe it properly |

GloriousGbola:exactly my point! Some pre-owned phones had even been rooted or made to run on custom firmware by the previous owners, making them vulnerable in terms of security. |

phr0nesis:Oga, there are different payment routes that do not require otp especially with foreign merchants. I have written her before of 2014 period I had to buy some parts from abroad, they sent an invoice, I then called them to ask how to make payment, the guy asked for my card number and expiry date, I barely finished calling when I got debit alert, how ? No otp etc.Another mistake people make is to see something on Facebook and make payment, walai 99% of the na scam, most don't even go through Google play, you are giving the merchant your info directly. They can debit you weekly, daily or monthly. Eg, my elderly mother complained to be that her money was alway shorting in her account, infact she had gone to bank to complain, no solution, I checked her debit alert, she had about 4 items making regular debits, In facts one debited as I was with her phone, 60k (naira equivalent of dollar) every 3 days, the others were weekly, between 10k- 20k and this had gone on for months! From my investigations I found out it was from FB, all those apps that will show you soap opera, short clip that will draw your attention, then you will want to see the rest and then she will put her card number, they will say it is a one time charge with small money, for where it is just to get access to your account. I then started deleting those apps from her phone one by one, I went to playstore to stop the payments, guess what? The apps were not on the payment schedule not to talk of being able to cancel. I had to call her bank, what we arrived at as the only solution was to destroy the card, declare it stolen and blocked in the bank, then apply for new card, that was what stopped the payments. In those few months she lost plenty plenty money. |

That person's domestic staff or children are responsible for those frauds. You have the right to believe it or not. |

I've been using GTB since 2007 and my first fraudulent deduction happened this year after my card spent the easter weekend stuck in the GTB atm. About 24k. I have complained and this people said they would respond in 90 days. I have moved all my transactions away from the bank sha. I would have closed the account but some people have the details and just transfer there without asking me first. |

My question is that which card was used for the debit, is it the old one or the new card he got. Is possible he got a new card and destroyed the old ones without blocking them on his account. And how careful is he when using POS, some POS operators are criminals that if you are not vigilant they can easily capture your card details and use it behind your back. People easily blamed the banks for unauthorized debits but it turns out most times that it's as a result of the customer's negligence. |

My wife has been complaining about this useless GTbank for sometime now because of their senseless debits everytime. I was angry and screamed at her to withdraw her money and close the F----king account......It annoys me when people hesitate in making decisions. |

It is GTbank that is stealing the money. You can Google numerous similar cases online. GTBank has long lost its pedigree, they are a rogue bank now. |

GTB is becoming increasingly a shitty bank. Just this week, Tuesday I guess, I received a mail that someone was trying to access my bank app (account) an hour earlier. Certainly it wasn't me, and I didn't give my phone to anyone. I tried logging in immediately but I couldn't. I called the customer care service immediately and I was only to delete the app and download another one. I tried logging in later and i was logged in. The following morning another message came in that someone just logged into my account. It wasn't me. I had to log in again and change my login details. The Bank is highly compromised. And it wasn't this terrible before. I kuku don't have a shishi inside. As soon as my monthly pay enter, I will flush it out immediately. |

Your ATM is truly compromised, someone has access to it and obviously using it to make online transactions. The advice is to block the card online transaction channel and that way, no 1, including you will be able to make any online transaction with it but you can do every other transaction with it. |

autoez:This is not the first time, stories that touches the heart with people's funds is told about GTB. Hope everyone remember the case of Chief Innoson Chulwuma and VDM's mother. It's not about anyone, soiling the image of the bank on the basis of an individual mistake. But if you think they are soiling the image of the bank because of the story of one man, my prayer for you is that may you experience what they have experienced, so as to know the pain. May GTB happen to you, if it does happen, please don't complain, so that the image of the bank will not be damaged. Thanks |

Check your house... Someone you know is using your card. Also, Visit the bank to get the details of the transaction and that may well reveal who. Ask them to provide you with the payment details. Not the the debit source. From Interswitch, you fit hear DSTV, and at DSTV you get the main account details of who used the card Banks are able to trace this, though may take some time. If you chose to close your account, na waste of time, as anywhere you go the person still de your house AnonPoet: |
