Brazil won their group
Argentina won their group
Colombia won their group
No African team won a group bruh!
CONMEBOL still higher than AFCON
Is it by winning groups or by having more of your teams crossing over to the next stage of the tourney?

Morocco can’t touch Holland
With what I’ve watched so far lol
Dumfries and co will be waiting
I hope Morocco win but it’s unlikely
Can SA beat host nation, let’s wait

Only Senegal & Egypt seem straightforward to me

"host nation" gimmick and its just Canada. The match will be played in the US so there wont be any home advantage for Canada. They have not really impressed during their group stage and i wont be surprised if they lose to SA.

Algeria vs Switzerland will see Vladimir Petkovic, Coach of Algeria come up against his home nation and former team.
He was Switzerland NT coach for 7yrs between 2014 and 2021.
Coached them to Euros 2016 and 2020.

Football does it again.
😂 Algeria is done be that na their coach go reveal their tactics to Switzerland no need for spying just a phone call from the Swiss to greet their former coach that’s all

It’s also shows why Afcon is now more competitive than before and becoming more exciting than even the euros

Big up's to our CAF reps, but they all qualified to next round by racking up points against the weaker Asian and CONCACAF teams, no top CONCACAF or European team was beaten by a CAF side (except we count the Ecuador loss to CIV). I hope they show they truly belong now by beating the big boys for the Rd of 16 cause the real phase that separates men from the boys has truly begun.

The only way the African teams are making it past the R32 is on penalties. None have the quality to beat their respective opponents in 90 or 120 mins

Let's be calming down with this 'making it through' talk. This expanded commercial world cup carried almost zero peril in the group stage. Out of 3 games a team (Senegal) lost 2 and beat ONLY Iraq to qualify! That's too easy and unheard of. In World Cup football, there are no second chances, no rebirth. You either win or come runner up in a strong group or you go home.

I remind y'all what WC groups looked like before this thing we're calling a world cup

Nigeria, Croatia, Argentina, Iceland
Nigeria, England, Sweden, Argentina
Ivory Cost, Netherlands, Portugal, Serbia
Ivory Coast, Brazil, Portugal, North Korea
Tunisia, England, Belgium, Paraguay
SA, Uruguay, France, Mexico
Cameroon, Netherlands, Denmark, Japan

.....and then only top 2 qualifies.

Now just beat a terribly poor AFC team like a Qatar, Uzbekistan etc and if you can scrape a draw somewhere else you are guaranteed to progress. On occasion you might not even need that draw and you're fine.

Anyway good luck to all the non xenophobic African countries.

I slept off, didn't watch the game but I remember Australia vs Paraguay but this is even better, they made it 3-3 with late goals.

Thank you abeg. Glad to know I'm not the only one thinking this.

As nice as it is to think that 9 out of 10 African teams qualified for the knockout stage of this World Cup, it's also important to remember that this World Cup is an entirely different tournament from the OG World Cup we grew up with. Let's assess things critically and objectively. Back in the days, you can ball your life out and still crash out 3rd in the group stage. Shit wasn't easy at all.

Now teams can lose two whole games and win just one game against one unknown minnow to qualify. Or draw all three games with a goals difference of zero and still qualify.

As far as I'm concerned, this World Cup doesn't start until the QF or Round of 16 at most. Any team still left in the final 8 is the team that will earn my respect in this World Cup.

Samuel Chukwueze is on Trabzonspor's transfer list and the club has made an offer for him.

Trabzonspor management and technical staff consider Chukwueze an important opportunity for the attacking line.

Further steps are expected in the coming days.

Isi gini? Napo what? Abeg, Make dem no do another Koulibaly situation with Nwaiwu unless Nwaiwu himself wants to play there for 10yrs.

With that said, Italy would actually suit him. EPL too. Both leagues are for a technical powerhouse CB like Nwaiwu.
