Don't Buy Phones Without Receipt, He Was Arrested Because Of This by Goo0dHardDick(op): 10:49am On Jun 28
I went to the market 2 days ago and I saw lots of people gathered in a shop directly opposite the store where I was purchasing an item.

According to the story, policemen on mufti came all the way from Anambra State to make arrest here in SS region. They were from State CID, anambra police department or however they call it. The policemen tracked a lost phone to someone, who directed them to the person who sold it to him (with receipt), who in turn took them to the shop where he got the phone. Now the seller (the shop owner) must have bought the phone from someone a long time ago and probably because it was so cheap, he went ahead to seal the deal and then in turn sold it out.

Now the case is complicated because the seller (the shop owner) bought that phone from someone who he doesn't even know, and obviously has no receipt either. The policemen has been tracking the phone for probably over a month now until they tracked it down to SS region here and made arrest. Right now, both the buyer, the middleman and the seller have all been taken to anambra police division same day the arrest was made. Nobody knows if the phone was stolen or the original owner of the phone was kidnapped, killed or attacked.

Be careful and avoid phones without receipts, wether you're a phone seller or a customer going to purchase a phone.

It's not just about buying a phone without a receipt. The real issue is buying it from a random person instead of a proper shop, especially someone you don't even know. A receipt is good, but being able to point to the actual person you bought it from is even better.

I made that msiatoe once.
How is made that mistake is still a mystery to me.

But luckily nothing happened.
I used it for a few months and then gave it out as I wasn't feeling comfortable using it.

I know giving it out wouldn't have helped either if they ever tracked it to the person I gave it to, they would have still linked it to me.

I am just grateful nothing happened.

2nd hand phone resellers and buyers full police cell.
You go hear things like I bought it from a shop, I get receipt, I never knew they stabbed someone dead when they stole the phone.
In all this, you must forfeit the phone as the buyer and still settle Police your friend.
Reseller naim own worse cuz if he can't provide who sold the phone to him, he will have to pay through his nose depending on if the original owner of the phone dey hospital or mortuary.
If na mortuary, then you go hate Nigeria police cuz them go add gold chain, wristwatch and 2 million naira to the phone as wetin loss during the robbery.
Woe betide you, if as a reseller with a physical shop, u can't produce the person who sold that phone to you and you dey issue receipts for stolen property?

Don't buy 2nd hand phones, but if you must, insist on the original receipt and the original carton of the phone.
If the two can't be provided, better buy brand new.

Make God no allow person take im hard earned money from Akara or kuli kuli frying take buy prison.

not just receipt - phone transfer. once yoiu have done transfer there is a record of the person you paid to - also make sure you label the payment as well

Now the case is complicated because the seller (the shop owner) bought that phone from someone who he doesn't even know, and obviously has no receipt either. bS. they know the phone is stolen.

years ago i was robbed of a phone in traffic. i had the phone in android find my device with a particular tag. next thing it appeared in android find my device as O2 - meaning a uk rom had been flashed onto it so it could be claimed to be uk used.

they are simply aiding and abetting criminals. the same thing happened in the case of cynthia okusogu. the killers sold her phone to a phone seller who then sold it to a someone else who was then picked up by the police

Am presently on a case of phone which was used for fraud. We've arrested and recovered 60% of the money. Don't buy a phone without the carton 📌💯.

X squad police will track you down. I can't post how the tracking analysis looks like.

Don't do cash payment, either way 🤷🏿.

Lastly, don't allow anyone using his sim on your phone. The IMEI keeps all SIM records. A brand new phone was used for fraud in my case and sold, seven guys were arrested (buyers and middle men)📌💯.

Buy phones from sources that you can hold responsible if anything goes wrong. Receipts are not guaranteed
Re: Don't Buy Phones Without Receipt, He Was Arrested Because Of This by techbro1: 1:33pm On Jun 28
Lol you act like police won't arrest and harass you regardless. The major reason why I ask for receipts after purchasing phones is for when I have to swap the device.
Re: Don't Buy Phones Without Receipt, He Was Arrested Because Of This by FSBoperator: 1:44pm On Jun 28
I know someone who is serving a life sentence for armed robbery because the phone he bought and resold was stolen during a fatal armed robbery .

He was repairing phones by the street corner and was into buying and reselling phones when he was approached by some random dude that had a smart phone to sell. He bought it and later sold it to someone else.

When the phone was tracked , it all came back to him and he could not provide who he bought it from. He was convicted as being part of the armed robbery gang that murdered someone for their phone.

Let me even let you know that the Nigerian Police will not act immediately a stolen phone report is lodged at their station.

They will collect details of your stolen phone and money for tracking it but will not act immediately.

Usually they will be tracking the device for months after you lodge your complaint of a stolen phone and from their end they can see how many different individuals have used the phone by tracking the SIM inserted in it.

The Nigerian Police will wait until they have at least 10 people who the phone has passed through their use and begin picking them up one by one and they will say the originally owner of the phone was murdered in an armed robbery operation.

Woe betide you if you don't provide the immediate person that sold the phone to you and just know you will part with nothing less than 500k to bail yourself out from that wahala.

By the time the first thief is arrested they will contact the original owner to show up and claim the phone was stolen at gunpoint even if it was not the case.

So that's why I tell anyone that if you see even a non smart phone on the ground , do not pick it up to try to resell it.

Have nothing to do with it as you never knew if it was ditched by the thief..

You're right. But the shop owner bought it obviously from someone he doesn't know because maybe it was cheap

Nigerians are forging receipts ooo. Avoid buying used phones, even when buying new ones, always make sure there is an address and name that is the same with where you are buying the phone. I once bought a fake phone that had issues, I returned it to where I bought it but the person denied he was the seller, it was when I presented my receipt I discovered no name and address were even written on top, it was like all those roadside receipts💔😡. Nigerians can perform signs and wonders when doing fraud, we just have to be careful.
