The same Paraguay that USA beat like thief. Most of these European countries prior to this WC were so overated. |

That dissallowed goal was unfair. The push on the keeper was never enough for him to fall like that. |

Very mixed feelings seeing Japan and Germany go out this early. Netherlands don't fail me! |

Germany were never going to win this World Cup. Their games against Ivory Coast and Ecuador exposed them as a simply mediocre team. Injury to Lennart Karl was a nail in their coffin because he was the one player who was on form and could actually take players on. Jamal Musiala has been a shadow of himself since coming back from that devastating injury, and I am really worried if he will ever be the player he once was. Florian Wirtz has been subpar and off form all season, so counting on him to turn it on in this World Cup was actually wishful thinking. I anticipated their victory over the Paraguay team, but I also expected France to easily brush them aside in the round of 16. Football is changing, and the gap between the elite teams and everybody else is closing. Brazil narrowly escaped Japan, and I expect many upsets in these knockout rounds. Spain is another of the elite teams I'm paying close attention to in this World Cup. Yamal and Williams are not fully fit, and the dynamism this duo brought to the Spanish national team has not been there in this World Cup; the Spain we are seeing is the same old team that dominates positions but does little with it. I can easily see Austria ending their World Cup dreams on Thursday. Outside of France, I have not seen any of the so-called elite teams in this tournament that I will say look scary and almost impossible to beat. Argentina, England, and Spain are beatable on any given day. This is a wide-open World Cup if you take out France, who I simply think is just too loaded. |

African teams should know this is round 32 ,take your chances don't respect any " big team ' you are not at the world cup to try but to win . Japan would have defeated Brazil if they took their chances . Paraguay that qualifed as third best team just bundled out the Germans . If it was Senegal or Ivory coast they will commit one silly foul lol 😂and commit penalty 😁 then say " they tried " I want to see a new champion 🏆 |

I expected Germany OUT by at least the Round of 16 but having them out now is just testament to their lack of cutting edge. Losing in back to back game vs South American sides also show they currently have a south american problem. I laugh now at those who thought the 7-1 result they achieved vs Curacao was a semifinals path launcher. Odunayaw: |

In my list of Tournament favorites, Darkhorses and Outside force, just one has fallen.... 2 of them Netherlands (Darkhorse) vs Morocco (Outside Force) go head to head soon. Top 5 Favs in no order: - Spain - France - Portugal - Argentina - England Solid Dark horses: - Brazil - - Netherlands - Belgium - Croatia (coz of their last 2 WCs) - Norway Outside Force: - Morocco TheSuperNerd: |

TheSuperNerd:They flattered to deceive in that one. It's almost ludicrous to imagine my 2014 self saying a time will come Germany wouldn't be contending for WC. Crazy times |

TheSuperNerd:I am surprised you still have Belgium in your list they have been over underwhelming if there is a word like that and they have a mid coach |

The Dutch went 433 throughout the group stage but will now play 3421/343 vs Morocco's consistent 4231. Interesting. |

Yes, you make a fair point about how underpar they have been mostly but I keep them in the Dark horses list for fair reasons and also because I did not want to change my choices in order to show consistency from pretournament till now. Japan and Colombia did not make my list not because either are not solid but rather because I see them as a different sort of problem that dont give darkhorse or outside force vibes. Japan is out now but I expect Colombia to go through vs Ghana. Franktom247: |
