Good morning house. I got an approval 3 days ago and I submitted my passport for stamping two days ago. It is for Study Permit. I want to know if it is compulsory to book return flight ticket for study permit holders in Canada. Can I go ahead with just a one-way ticket please? It's urgent as airfares are increasing as September approaches. Any input from our seniors and experienced Students here would be highly appreciated |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by TradeSunMoore: 7:45am On Jul 03 |
Ifymoto:You only need a one-way ticket. |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by AbelAbdul: 8:09am On Jul 03 |
Ifymoto:Book one-way. Which airline are you going for? I tried Emirates but can't book. SO I am told to use agencies to book. |

Ifymoto:It was not compulsory before but since last year (2025) it has been highly recommended because no foreign student traveling to Canada with the hope of receiving study permit entry from ircc at the Canada POE is guaranteed the entry. Booking a return flight ticket as a first time traveller makes the ircc official at the POE rate you as a genuine, financial capable and responsible international student. |

ehiremen2002:Good. I wish you luck. |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by AbelAbdul: 10:15am On Jul 03 |
Ifymoto:Do not! I repeat, do not book a round trip. Go for one-way ticket and you would be fine. Ignore anyone telling you to get a return ticket. Anything can happen in Canada for good or bad and you are likely not 100% sure exactly when you would be leaving. I have never heard that someone was refused entry because of a one-way ticket. Go and watch YT videos of international students and do not allow anyone here to leave you with decisions you'd end up regretting. When you arrive in Canada, the officer is generally more interested in whether you: Have a valid study permit or the required approval documents. Are genuinely coming to study at your designated learning institution. Have enough money to support yourself. Intend to comply with the conditions of your stay in Canada. Questions the border officers most likely ask are Name of your school, Study duration If you have where you will be staying Your financial ability After graduation what next.. Never heard where a border officer was concerned with a return ticket. Showing them a return ticket would not stop them from denying you entry if the discover any foul play. Please ignore that commenter |

The border officer would rate you as a genuine, financial capable international student why you can demonstrate to them your reason for coming to Canada and that you have the money to sustain you through your stay and that you will leave after your study. Returning ticket is not make them rate you as a genuine. Please ignore that person,. That was how he claimed I post screenshots of other people application claiming it to be mine. that was how he claimed that Canada issues Permanent Study permit when there is no where in IRCC website that 'Permanent Study permit' is mentioned. He does not know the meaning of the word 'Permanent'. Ignore him or follow his advise and regret. cc Ifymoto |

I posted my IRCC application portal he claimed I was getting those pictures online to post that I didn't apply for any study permit that I am an agent bla bla bla. This is my visa stamp. Don't worry let me land in Toronto next month I will make a video. Do not give your application to any agent do everything yourself. Ask questions when in doubt. Make use of AI. That was exactly what I did and he is bitter about it.

AbelAbdul:You can make a valid point without having to castigate or demean others, directly or indirectly. Men, you need more mental maturity guy. I mean this nicely. Some of your info may be solid but your communication skills leaves a lot to be desired. Na u sabi las las. |

manneger2:You show 1 year, and provide documentation to show where funds for remaining 1 year will come from. If you have funds for both year then show. |

I submitted my application last Sunday for myself and my son. I already have an existing biometrics which was updated the next day. But almost 1 week later, they haven't requested my sons biometrics. Is this normal? |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by PhdCloakRoom(m): 8:36pm On Jul 03 |
ColdHunter:Yes its normal either way round. Your son may not need biometrics depend on his age. Besides, they need time to do background checks on both of you. So your applications is being work on. |

Submitted my medical since 18th June, more than 2 weeks now, no updates from IRCC. What are possible reasons for delay? Is this normal? |

Ifymoto:You will eventually be scammed. That boy is a commercial bus driver in portharcourt. Every update he has been posted is a targettted coy to be contacted. He never got an admission not to talk of visa. Call your admission Counselor they will arrange pick up or give you an expert who will guide you from your door step to Canada. |

Ifymoto:I'm sorry I do not reply PMs. Whatever question you have, drop here if I have answers I will respond. I have booked my flight 'Emirates' yesterday. PS: The person telling you not reach out to me for fear of scam did reach out but he can tell you that I did not respond because I do not reply PMs.

Ifymoto:Ask him to narrate to you how he booked on emirate and how did he make the payment? He is a con man who is always dodging core practical questions. My monicker on Nairaland is PhdCloakroom and the person who contacted Abel Abdul is PhdCl0akroom. People can see the difference. I will never contact you for anything because you have zero knowledge to offer. Keep deceiving yourself. |
