This newly constructed 6,000MT/Day Lithium Processing Plant In Nasarawa State is a game changer.

Next is for lithium battery manufacturing companies to set up factories in the country as well.

6,000 MT per day? That's a huge amount of mining. I hope the environment where the mining is taking place is being protected, and that the local communities are getting their fair share of the revenue generated from these mining activities.

Helinuse the original or fake I know of Helinues but this I don't. that aside, if this project was from your loanee tax lord it would be laudable.

what happens to the narratives of job creation, social development, industrialization and all that?

yemre:
Look at this clown😂. Do you have issues with comprehension? Will the government come into your room to give you employment before you know they're creating jobs?

For your information, the economy is driven by the private sector and the primary duty of the government to create that enabling environment for industrialization to thrive. A 6000MT lithium processing plant has just be completed and you're here asking for industrialization and jobs creation!

Will the lithium plant be run or occupied by robots? What about the workers, are they animals, robots or trees that will be working there?

I tire for you o
@yemre look at my comment you got me wrong, check the comment I quoted and see for yourself, you shouldn't have insulted me but your next response will determine my answers to you cause readily I spot flaws in response.

yemre:
I'm sorry, I never meant to insult you. I think I approached it with the wrong words while trying to make a point. And I think I misinterpreted your comment. So, pls pardon my language. Thank you.
you are appreciated. nairalanders can make you drill mistakes even if you don't intend.

I dislike commenting on local news but my people, learn to ask the right questions.

Is this a state owned company? If not, what’s the revenue ratio between the federal government and the owners?
How does the ministry of solid minerals keep track of every ounce of lithium mined?

Who are the owners?
What’s the economic impact?
What’s the environmental impact?

It’s a good initiative but like with every other sector (Gold, LNG, Oil) I fear it’s been monopolized.
Re: Newly Constructed 6,000MT/Day Lithium Processing Plant In Nasarawa by axglide(m): 7:22am On Jul 04
Wonderful achievement, surely brings gains to the state.

Why lithium is strategically important

Demand for lithium has grown rapidly due to the global shift toward electric vehicles and renewable energy. As a result, countries with large lithium reserves play an increasingly important role in the global economy.

In summary, lithium is important because it:

* Powers modern rechargeable batteries.
* Helps treat bipolar disorder.
* Improves industrial materials like glass and lubricants.
* Supports clean energy technologies and electric transportation.

Here are its main uses:

1. Rechargeable batteries (most important use)
Lithium is a key component in lithium-ion batteries, which power:
* Smartphones
* Laptops
* Electric vehicles (EVs)
* Renewable energy storage systems
It is lightweight and stores a large amount of energy.
2. Medicine
Lithium carbonate is used to treat certain mental health conditions, especially bipolar disorder. It helps stabilize mood and reduce episodes of mania and depression.
3. Glass and ceramics
Lithium improves the strength and heat resistance of glass and ceramic products, making them less likely to crack.
4. Lubricants
Lithium-based greases are widely used in machinery because they can withstand high temperatures and reduce friction.
5. Aerospace and industry
Because it is the lightest metal, lithium is used in lightweight alloys for aircraft and other specialized engineering applications.

Every single person that supports APC even me when I used to lack basic understanding of economics particularly in a capitalist economy

They don’t know how job creation works
Don’t know the viability of projects
Don’t know the impact of loans
Don’t know devaluation
Don’t know reference point when gdp is measured

They just want legacy projects , is it viable they don’t care
How is the funding done they don’t care

I call it the “awolowo syndrome “ or “cocoa house effect “
Awolowo was the first to do it
Cocoa house is the poster child

Beautiful fancy and feel good project to be proud of but has absolutely no viability

This is 2026 you and you are building a lithium plant without any demand for lithium locally first ?

Is the plant lithium competitive ? Can you be profitable if you sale at the global price ?

If it fails now we would say we lack maintenance culture

But I hope and wish this is not a government project sha

Let’s learn to criticize constructively and fairly.

That project, from inception through construction to operation, has given jobs to thousands of Nigerians.

Stop being a dummy ... what concerns a private entity with failure 🤔 personified by Tinubu and APC,
Which car company will be using the lithium, or you plant to export to US, Japan, etc? At what cost? You guys just shout when you hear if projects, tell me the cist-benefit analysis you have done.

Don’t be myopic. The reason there is Obidient today is because of failed leadership. This govt have lost trust from the masses except the ignorant ones who still believe they have to kpai or be kidnapped first before they know that this govt have failed. Even this project we can still not trust their honesty in the cost of setting it up and its returns and how it will circulate and better the people. We need a fairer and transparent govt to take over and help rebuild that trust in govt. don’t be cheap to fall for this govt again

Of course there's been a change. We no longer queue up for fuel!

Secondly you can see that we've been relatively shielded from the shocks of the War in Iran because of domestic refining.

But he is making sense. With the amount crude per barrel is sold today, we are suppose to be buying fuel at max N500 per liter. Stop being cheap. Nigerians deserve better.

"Can people eat it?" is a strange standard. People can't eat roads, bridges, or hospitals either. The point is to build an economy where people can earn enough to buy food, not expect the government to feed them forever.
