If you feed three people well three times a day for 2 weeks that thing you're looking at is not enough especially if you live in above average parts of cites like Lagos, ph, Abuja and enugu it costs way more.

In enugu as a single man you will need at least 5K to feed yourself well for a day. 3K if you manage well because the average price of a plate of food is 1200... That is a plate of rice on the street. If you need extra 600

Now say you use 5k a day for 30 days that is 150k for just you as a man

But then you are married

What about your wife that eats more and you're growing child that needs lots of protein

Unless you want to make your family sofa you actually need half a million naira now to live a modest life indoor cities I mentioned

What do you mean by "feeding well" undecided

Most of you think that "feeding well" is eating 3 pieces of turkey or 5 eggs during each square meal. Y'all really think it's that expensive eating a well balanced food (diet) every day.

Instead you say una dey chop too much wey one person fit consume people food in a sitting.

The way the OP put it is largely misunderstood on two points.

First. 'a FAMILY of three', usually means two adults and a child. OP, is that actually what you want to convey.

Secondly, 'total expenses, just FEEDING' means the cost of food alone, groceries (in the west). Some may stretch the 'feeding' definition to include the kitchen costs of cleaning, energy and help.

The OP should make it clear enough for everyone to share their own experiences.

Every child need egg a day. Calculate from there. Milk is important. We never add basic food. Depend on what u want ur child to look like. It's not cheap anymore. A pot of soup is between 15k to 20k. Except u are fine with shawa your children cannot swallow..

My generator is 7kva.

No wonder.

But cost effectiveness, I think spending the 7m+ is better.

Less maintenance cost, easy servicing and replacement of parts(shine your eyes)

That is what it should mean.
In contemporary Nigeria that is tantamount to feeding yourself because two adults can cater for themselves. One child is hardly a burden.

PS, when I mean 'cater', it means the ability to adjust or accommodate changes to traditions and 'habits' which are more difficult to implement on children.

It's very small for family of 3.. I spent 135,000 every week with my family of five.
Things is very costly in Nigeria and our currencies did have value any more..

When my sister was still in Nigeria, with her 4 kids she spends more than 300k monthly and her husband wasn't even with them. With children if you want to provide the best of everything for them, u would have to spend more. Even me that I am single, I spend more than 40k weekly.

your maths is not adding up at all

you need a 3 to 4kva generator for the basics - lighting, washing machine, fridge., freezer, iron, pump, tv

any ac is additional 1.5 to 2kva load on your system .

once you decide to run acs for cooling as standard, you need at least a 9kva 3 phase diesel generator

For me, when I wake up, I eat egg roll and drink water... (protein an carb)... afternoon, I eat biscuits 300. More can to attend Belle..

At night bread and akara 600.( Bread 300, akara 300)

So 500 egg roll, biscuits 300 ND sandwich 600. Total spending 1300 plus pure water 200 daily. 1500 per day...

Anyday ,good money enter, I buy potatoes 1k eat am twice (different days ) with oil ..other days, I cook soup with 4500 eat am 3 days with garri 1200 (1 custard bucket)

See me, I still full and healthy ND save alot. My data na 5k monthly and I dey health insurance...

Make una no manage, dash ppl una money finish because of forming

MY DAILY EXPENSES:
Two loves of bread (2k each) = 4k
Sachet tea roll = 3k
Milk roll = 3k
TOTAL = 10K

Lunch & Dinner;
Lets say 10k

Transportation to&fro work;
2500k go, 2500k come

Fuel;
5k for 4.5 it's

TOTAL; N25,000

25,0000 × 1WEEK = 175,000
175,000 × 1MONTH = 700,000.
So, 700,000 per month. On just 70% of what we consume. Drugs, gas, utilities, are not there o
