Pape Gueye of Senegal🇸🇳 holds the record as for the most goals involvements in a game by an African player as a sub off the bench (2 goals, 1 assists) vs Iraq (2026 WC)

But Soufiane Rahimi of Maroc🇲🇦 is different. His is the most Goals involvement by an African player who has not started a match in a Single WC edition and in WC history.
Pape Gueye has started 3 WC games.

19 y/o RB/RWB, Oluwaseyi Ogunniyi started his first senior league game and scored his first senior goal⚽️ for VPS in the Finnish Veikkausliiga as VPS won 4-0 vs IFK Mariehamm. He played all 90mins.
Mentioned him before now and he is a product of Beyond Limits FA.

22 y/o CB, Emmanuel Okereke played all 90mins for VPS helping to a cleansheet.

21y/o FW, Stanley Iheanacho scored for the 3rd straight game for FC Midtjylland in a 4-2 preseason friendly win vs Silkeborg.

Forwards, Okoh Michael Chidera, 23 and Williams Chimezie, 20 both featured for Botev Plovdiv in their 1-0 win vs Spartak Varna in a preseason friendly.

Another friendly had another test XI of Botev Plovdiv play vs Etar and it ended in a 1-2 loss for Botev.
Surprisingly, Kelechi Nwakali featured for Botev. Seems he is on trial run there.

But, earlier in the day, Nwakali was also reported to have featured for Barnsley in a preseason game they won 2-0 vs Matlock Town. He was part of the 2nd half XI. I really dont know how Nwakali managed to play 2 games in one day for 2 different sides in 2 different countries. 😂 Insane workrate🤣

Audacious football is True African football.
See remember Nigeria vs Spain france 98.
It's the few time an African team defeated or were competitive wth a top European or South American team while playing attacking football.
Most African teams play defensive against these top European sides.
But watch that match and it was score me I score you not just defending and waiting for the counter.

Another day to remind us all not to take the words of Dual-nats seriously until they are retired. Lol

This was Current Moroccan CB, Issa Diop at 21yrs.

"I have always said that I will only play for France and no one else," Diop told ladepeche.fr.

"Whether I am selected or even if I am never selected with the A's, I will not play for another team.

"I was born in France. It's in France that I have everything. So I do not see why I would play for another nation."

Source: BBC (October 11, 2018)

Tots:
So you see, Senegal obviously made approaches hence these statements. Morocco did too. Both got turned down. Years later, Morocco returned, Senegal did not. His reply changed and today he is a Moroccan international. Lol

Good thing Morocco went back though. Coz without his header, Netherlands would have knocked them out in the Round of 32.

Emphasis on Paraguayan goalkeeper and not the outfield players. The goalkeeper was professional throughout the match.
Yeah bro I noticed your emphasis but it's a team work, they all agreed to play dirty
Did you know the goalie later threw the ball at Mpape for not shaking hands with him?
That's the guy you are making case for grin

BTW Mpape should have acknowledged his gesture sha but I feel he was totally pissed off by the unprofessional way they played even before the pen was taken they tried sabotaging the pen spot grin

I didn't see the goalkeeper throw a ball at Mbappe.

Watching it live, the goalkeeper was about to play a long ball but couldn't because the final whistle was blown. After the whistle, he stretched his hand to shake Mbappe but Mbappe snubbed him and chose to celebrate in front of the fans instead. Perhaps you can show me the video where he threw the ball at Mbappe.

As for the shenanigans of the outfield Paraguayan players, I was shouting throughout the match but also laughing because people keep complaining that football is not as intense as it used to be in the days of old. Now that the Paraguayans have shown them proper old school gbas gbos football, they're still complaining grin

A humble suggestion for your channel, BascoVanVeli. I think it would be wise to stop putting the game score line in the title or thumbnail of your highlights videos.

It creates a "spoiler" effect for people who didn't watch the game and makes you lose viewers as some people wouldn't bother clicking on the video since they have already seen the final scoreline.

If you check the Super-Sports YouTube channel's highlights videos for this WC games, you will see my point. You won't see the game results until you click and watch to the end.

🇳🇬Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has not signed a contract extension with Nigeria, contrary to reports suggesting the National Sports Commission (NSC) had renewed his deal.

Chelle’s current contract still runs until January 2027, and with no extension agreed yet, several African national teams are closely monitoring the situation and are interested in the Malian tactician. 👀

🚨 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧: African nations have scored a combined 51 goals so far in the 2026 World Cup.

This is the first time the CAF teams manage to score 50+ goals in a single World Cup.

My man, let me help and be more specific.

🔴NFF under Amaju Pinnick (2014-2022 as NFF head)

= Back to Back Afcon misses in 2015 and 2017.

= Missed 2022 WC too.

= Handed over to his boy, Gusau in 2022 and we missed another WC in 2026.

Pinnick directly linked to 2 different back to back misses for 2 major tournaments in our football history.

It is a real wonder how he is still walking free today.
We need the right person in the glass house. Not these people wey no care for team.

We need to hold a conversation as a continent after this tournament. They keep winning our hearts... but leave the actual victories for someone else!

That's a good point but hear me out.

97% of people already know the score before getting on YouTube. Plus the knowing of the score also brings curiousity about how it went down. If u see Argentina vs Cabo Verde [3-2] u will definitely want to see how the heck Cape Verde scored 2 goals.
