Mexico are not down yet! Mexico 2-3 England.

Jimenez finally beats Pickford, at least from the spot.

This game is already a Classic.
Game of the tournament. I expect Mexico to level things.

It is not about that. It is about the fact that if certain players commit this same foul, it wont be a red card. We have seen such already at this WC.

The officiating decisions are not consistent for those kind of fouls.

AndSunGorilla:
Alan shearer and BBc agreed it was a red card.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Mujtahida: 3:34am On Jul 06
It's not about tactics. It's not about being broken by Germany in 2014. Brazil simply does not have enough talented players like they did in the past.

Their players are mediocre.

Modern football has finished Brazil pata pata. I've never supported Brazil (even though I loved Brazilian players) but to see one of the great footballing nation fall so drastically like this makes me sad.

Even Brazil has no proper 10. I hate this modern football that nullified the 10.

Mexico need to keep a cool head so they won't collect their own red card.

Bruno or Zaidu will start ballooning any balls that comes to them 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Then Ndidi will start making mistakes, Iwobi would have gassed out, Simon would be playing to the touch line, Chukwueze won't be able to hold the ball for 5 seconds and Osimhen would be out injured. Na only Bassey, Adam and Lookman for they carry the team.

Mehn, we have a few more contenders for that tag.

Argentina vs Cape Verde.
Portugal vs Croatia.
Belgium vs Senegal.
Uruguay vs Cape Verde.
Netherlands vs Japan.

But this Mexico vs England surely carries crazier intensity coz one of them is Cohost and it is the Azteca!!!

Agreed. For me, it's the venue, hostility, and history that gives this match the edge.

The Mexicans are throwing in everything. More Ganja-smoking players who can bring the fire and the chaos.

Tuchel threw in Dan Burn. The tallest player in the England squad to stand as the repellant to the mexican aerial threats.

This game is the definition of Nail-Biting..... High Tension... Absolutely energy sapping.

This is the kind of game you wish those hydration breaks came in now with your team under pressure. Lol

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 3:59am On Jul 06
To Mexican fans: "Come on boys! There is no time... Hurry up! The clock is ticking fast"

To English fans: "Oh goodness me, the clock is running so slow. The seconds are not going fast enough"

Same Time... Different speed perspectives. Life. Football.

England are through. Sad for Mexico. Of the 3 hosts, is the last one going out 2moro?

Well done England!!!! Well deserved!

Mexico 2-3 England.

England have successfully torn down the azteca. The Three Lions have shown heart... Courage and passion.

This is hard core. This is how you win in the face of adversity and all out home support for the host.

Stupid, Stupid, Stupid Mexico. How can you be 11 v 10 and still concede such a stupid and very avoidable penalty? Even after that, they had enough time to put dangerous crosses into the box but their crosses were terrible. It's really annoying.

Next up: Spain vs Portugal. Unfortunate meeting but one must and will go home.

Will Yamal and co end CR7's last dance at the round of 16 or will Portugal somehow squeeze past the Spanish masters?

This one is another classic in the making just like the Uefa Euro Nations League final last year between both and ended in penalties after 2-2.

For England to go to Mexico city to play Mexico in the azteca in a world cup knockout, down to 10 men, having to hold on for 25 minutes is one of the most herculean feats I've ever seen. Remarkable . Come on England
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by 9JAMac10: 4:25am On Jul 06
What a performance for Jude Bellingham, who scored 2 goals in the win

England really played like lions, winning at the Azteca was always going to be a very tall order especially when Mexico has never lost there since 2013? My boy Bellingham balled his socks off, a proper Real Madrid performance right there 👏🏿.

Our AFCON semifinal match in Rabat vs Morocco.

We may have lost in penalties but we held our own against poor refereeing, a hostile crowd, and unsportsmanlike like conduct (e.g. the towel snatching).

10-men England shows heart to knock out really solid Co-hosts, Mexico in a RO16 classic for the ages at the Azteca.

8 out of my 12 Favorites/Darkhorses/Outside force selections are still in. 4 are OUT.
3 of the 4 OUT got booted out by 3 of the 8 still in the competition.
And 2 more will inevitably fall in the quarters coz 4 of the 8 left so far (pending other RO16 games) meet one another (🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 v 🇸🇯 and 🇫🇷 v 🇲🇦).

2 out of the 8 that remain meet each other in an upcoming RO16 Classic...."Portugal vs Spain." That is Up NEXT!

Round of 16 action continues....

Next-up:

TheSuperNerd:
One darkhorse (Norway) emerged better and stronger than another darkhorse (Brazil). The Vikings led by World class Haaland swallowed the Samba Boys who had no Samba/Jinga rhythms in their plays today.
