Colombia played beautiful attacking football all through this tournament. I wonder what happened to them today.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 12:08am On Jul 08
And here we are. grin ✅️✅️

JohnBullMySon:
Somehow I would prefer Argentina to face a European team that will out posses them.

Columbia match up will be too end to end and that might just work out for the Argentines.

Argentina have shown that they can score their way out of trouble. An organized defensive side like Switzerland won’t give them scoring chances.

I study Osimhen’s every move, dream of playing together, says 21-year-old Iheanacho

FC Midtjylland forward Stanley Iheanacho has revealed that Nigeria international Victor Osimhen remains the biggest inspiration in his career, saying he studies the Galatasaray striker’s game and dreams of sharing the pitch with him one day.

In a Q&A published on FC Midtjylland’s official website, the 21-year-old, who has enjoyed a prolific return to the Danish club after his loan spell in Portugal, spoke extensively about the influence Osimhen has had on him.

“Yes, I look up to Victor Osimhen (Nigerian national team striker who currently plays for Galatasaray, ed.). He is a fantastic guy, a fighter who has had to fight his way out of poverty.

“His warrior mentality is inspiring, and when he plays, he gives everything – he is so hungry to score goals. I can see a lot of things from him in myself,” he declared his admiration.

Iheanacho went further, explaining that watching Osimhen has become part of his own development as a striker.

The player said, “I watch his clips and all the interviews he gives. I try to learn from him and my dream is to play with him one day.”

The young Nigerian is back at FC Midtjylland after finishing as the top scorer in Portugal’s Liga 3 with 14 goals for Mafra, and he believes he has carried that momentum into pre-season.

He said, “I think I’m basically still where I left off last season. At the end of last season I scored five times in a row, and now I’m doing something similar at the start. That’s important to me.”

Reflecting on his return to Denmark, Iheanacho said he is determined to establish himself in the first team.

The prolific right winger said, “It’s been fantastic for me. I’m very grateful for the opportunity, and I’m constantly trying to push myself here at the start to achieve my goals and show that I deserve a central place on the team.”

He also highlighted the impact his two-year spell in Portuguese football has had on his growth.

“It was something different because in Midtjylland I was in the academy. The club’s culture and style of play have really taught me a lot, and I take things with me both on and off the pitch. The time in Mafra has really taught me a lot – also mentally,” he stated.

Asked what supporters can expect from him this season, Iheanacho replied: “You can expect goals, of course, and a player who always gives everything he has – I want to be known for the energy I bring.”

If fifa reduces African slots at the World Cup I won’t be surprised we should be doing better than this. You’ve got to be world beaters to be taken seriously
At all oooo, this WC is still a success.

2 in the Ro16 and 1 in the QF.

It really could have been 3 in the QFs if not for bad game management.

The question is how to learn from here

Colombia are one of the biggest disappointments in this World Cup, they could have legitimately beaten Argentina and have a fighting chance to reach the final.

That’s the failure am talking about, two teams leading by 2-0 and bottling it up, you don’t get such chances all the time it was a lost opportunity.

That Black Egyptian #12, Haissem Hassan is a Foreign Born that switched allegiance from France to Egypt earlier this year. He plays for Real Oviedo and balled in La Liga this past season. You could easily see his impact on the Egyptian team. Baller!

His side was eventually relegated to La Liga 2 ahead of 2026/27.

Too bad the Argies took him out and he had to be subbed coz of injury on 73mins. The lad dey ball.

Nigeria no go bottle 2-0 in world cup, that one na lie.

It’s not in our mentality at all

They can score us, and we equalize, they score again, but to bottle two goal at 80 minutes, even Argentina no reach, insult Nigerian all you want, e no go happen.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by zuchyblink(m): 9:20am On Jul 08
We have failed to qualify for the World Cup twice, in 2022 and 2026, since these tribalistic individuals took over our youth national teams, which are supposed to be our talent factories.

They have kept recycling the same coaches, including Salisu Yusuf, Isa Ladan Bosso and Abdallah.

Even Emmanuel Amunike, who won the U,17 World Cup, has not been given a meaningful opportunity to lead any of the age grade national teams.

Our age grade teams are our primary talent factories. We are not Morocco, which has successfully attracted many of its best foreign born players. In our case, we hardly attract our top foreign born talents.

Argentina is certainly playing AFCON and not world cup

Argentina 3-0 Algeria

Argentina 3-2 Cape Verde

Argentina 3-2 Egypt

They're lucky Nigeria is on holiday
