Americans are only capitalists when it suits them. The women team used the #meetoo movement then to strongarm the men team to this deal as at that period. Remembered when they took their FA to court for this deal. Same way the NBA is bankrolling the WNBA and those ones are still fighting for higher pays even tho they dont earn enough.

The Scary "Les Bleus" absolutely decimated Morocco from min 1 to Min 90+. 8 shots on target vs Maroc's 1; 22 shots vs 5 shots. It was a one sided affair as Bounou was kept busy through the entire ordeal. France deservedly march on in Mega Commanding fashion. The win was so dominant that France could afford to throw away a penalty plus Mbappe knew the work was done by 77mins so he asked to be subbed off. Well done to the Atlas Lions for finishing as Africa's best at another WC edition (this time as quarterfinalist, a drop down from semifinalist in 2022) but they were never in the contest vs France. 🔰Now, 6 out of my 12 Favorites/Darkhorses/Outside force selections are still in. 6 are now OUT. 5 of the 6 OUT got booted out by 5 of the 6 still in the competition. And, 2 more will inevitably fall in the quarter finals coz 4 of the 6 left so far meet one another_* (🏴v🇸🇯 & 🇪🇦v🇧🇪). Argentina meets Switzerland, which is not in this selection. Quarter Finals Action continues 🟣Next-up in this selection: 🟢 Spain (Top 5 Fav) vs Belgium (Darkhorse) on July 10th. Top 5 Favs in no order: - Spain✅️✅️*(Quarter finals)* - France✅️✅️✅️*(Semifinals)* - - Argentina✅️✅️*(Quarter finals)* - England✅️✅️*(Quarter finals)* Solid Dark horses: - - - - Belgium✅✅️*(Quarter finals)* - - Norway✅️✅️*(Quarter finals)* Outside Force: 💯 TheSuperNerd: |

Bamidele Yusuf scored as he helped his side, Ferencvaros of Hungary to a 2-1 away win over Vojvodina(Serbia) in the First leg of the Europa League First Qualifying Round. Clinton Jeptha played 88mins for FC Inter Turku (Finland) in their 1-1 away draw at Bosnia's FK Sarajevo in the Uefa European Conference league 1st Qualifying Round. |

World cup is over for every African team so everybody don humble, let them all come back and let's have fun as we prepare for the next AFCON. At least all the roasting of Nigeria has ended about us not qualifying blah blah blah...now we can all begin our different realities on the same level as we start on a clean and new slate under Eric Chelle. After all has been said and done, Nigeria is still 28 ranked in the world and now 4th in Africa despite the world cup absence, so we still get levels at least. |

Morocco got to the SF in my books considering it is an expanded world cup and they met the strongest title contender. So no dey appease urself.Morrocco is MILES ahead of Naija. You can settle for AFCON owambe as usual SymphonyRad: |

A positive side of the Super Eagles under Chelle is that they can now put the smaller teams in their place, and they would have qualified directly from the WC qualifier group if they had Chelle then. They have gotten good results against smaller teams in AFCON and Unity Cup, unlike the struggles they had before against smaller teams that made people to nearly conclude there are "no more minors in football". |

Joebie:Story for the gods, nobody gives a fucck about those expanded world cup technicalities my guy. What football facts will have on record is that Morocco got to the QF (fair play to them) but they got slapped around by France and got dumped out with no shots on target till minute 86. Senegal gave France a far better game, even teams like Cape Verde and Ivory Coast would have given France a better fight. You can suck off Morocco for all you want but with all their recent successes, they will still need some more decades to catch up to Nigeria's continental and global impact in football despite our administrative woes that have stunted our football lately. So yeah, I daresay there's no world where Morocco is MILES ahead of Naija, granted they have a more successful world cup record than us lately no doubt, but that is only where they have surpassed us in football...making world cup semi-finals and Quarter-finals are mad impressive for an African side, but at the end what separates you from the big boys are those trophies in your national cabinet and not your world cup moral victory stories. |

Amedino99:This framing isn't totally correct. First the equal pay agreement has little to do with the metoo movement. Metoo is primarily about women who are survivors of sexual assault, and this isn't that. The agreement was reached in 2022 way past the period in question. Second, the women took the matter to court to force mediation. Historically there were issues of pay discrimination from the FA that the women could prove. I'm not refering to price money here, but on how both teams are treated. There were proveable pay disparities in things like match bonuses, world cup bonuses, travel per diem etc and it made sense for the FA to settle this matter out of court. So the FA didn't just cower like most would assume. It's important to note that while they may have gotten the courts to mandate the FA that they be treated equally as the men (i.e same quality of hotel, same exposure to world class staffing etc) no court in the US would have mandated that earnings from FIFA be pooled together and shared equally. None. What happened really is that much of the men's team are either liberal leaning or what to be perceived as one. So the women leveraged on that and used media and public pressure to get this deal out of them. To be clear, the men national team volunteered to, they didn't have to. Not even more socialist leaning counties in Europe have this kind of sharing agreement. The men really just pandered to public opinion instead instead of being perceived as anti-women. The NBA/WNBA comparison isn't also totally accurate. Yes, the NBA prior to the 2024 season gave the WNBA $10M yearly to ensure the league stays afloat. This however didn't come from players like the USMNT did, it came from the NBA purse as they are the largest shareholders of the WNBA. So the decision has a more business sentiment. It's important to note also that the NBA was using the WNBA to get tax break. So while on the books the WNBA wasn't profitable, they were getting a lot of tax break incentive, again revealing the $10M funding of the WNBA as a wise business decision not just charity. |
