Algerian journalist and renowned Arab television presenter Khadija Bent Qenna once shared an unforgettable experience from her visit to the United States.

After finishing her shopping at a large supermarket, she was waiting in line to pay when she noticed a Muslim woman in hijab pulling a large box apparently containing a lawn mower back into the store. The woman looked exhausted after what seemed to be a long journey.

She approached the cashier politely and explained that she had purchased the machine the previous day along with several other items.

The Muslim woman gently replied, "None of those reasons apply. Yesterday I paid for all my shopping by credit card and drove nearly two hours back home. When I checked my receipt later, I realized that although I had taken the lawn mower, I had never been charged for it."

The cashier was left speechless. She embraced the woman and, holding back tears, asked, "What made you drive four hours round trip and take time off just to return?"

Her answer was simple:

"Honesty."

She then explained that Islam teaches believers to safeguard trusts, fulfill responsibilities and remain truthful even when no one is watching.

The cashier immediately informed the store manager. After hearing what had happened, the manager gathered the staff and many customers also came over to listen. Everyone wanted to know what inspired such remarkable integrity.

The woman answered their questions by explaining how Islam encourages honesty, justice and accountability before God.

Deeply moved, the manager offered to let her keep the lawn mower as a gift. With gratitude and humility, she declined, saying that earning Allah's pleasure meant far more to her than receiving a free machine. She insisted on paying the full amount, thanked the staff and quietly left the store.

Ok. But what is a Muslimah doing in America. The America many Muslim loath so much. Hypocrisy

Is this a joke or propaganda? Is there any religion in the world that doesn't have devout individuals who practice honesty? Abeg go and sit down. There is no amount of honesty a Muslim can practice that can remove the bloodshed perpetrated by it's extremists. The pain they have caused cannot be erased by a simple act of returning a lawnmower. Besides, outside of religion, it's a crime to keep that item if you're caught. She was probably scared of getting deported back to her islamic country if caught.

That's the beauty of Islam. Alhamdulillah for being a Muslim.

Good story worthy of emphasis especially to the young ones but this is very common in the United States regardless of religion. Anyone living in the US could attest to that, it is the norm not the exception. However, in a nation of over 300 million people, you will have lots of divergence.

Even in Nigeria, the silent majority are honest people. The criminals and the overly materialistic are more newsworthy hence the wrong impression across board.

There is no religion that permits cheating.
So after this commendable show of honesty, she agrees with death for apostasy, child marriage, wife beating, taqqiyya ( deception to advance the course of her religion), jihad, etc. It doesn't make sense!

I have returned something far less costlier than the mower to a store far from me. When the store assistant asked me why I returned it , I said my conscience wouldn’t let me keep it. So I gave it back and the store assistant said a lot of thank you so much , saying if it were to be some other person that took something they weren’t charged for home , they wouldn’t think of returning it

They are always like that until they can conviniently unalive you.
