Philosopher1979:That's why Messi is still competing with today's young footballers despite his age. He was trained the old way. Watching Colombia at this WC, you would see how James Rodriguez was far ahead his team mates despite his age too... He was also trained the old way. Passing passing without an end is boring and has killed the excitement that football was once known |

EElopa:Yes o, Benjamin is really good, if Brentford no trust him, they should let him peacefully move to where he will be used. Still can't understand why they never gave him any minutes before sending him out on loan. |

Sugarboyy:I am a big Super Eagles fan, and I dream of having a Nigerian team as strong as we used to have in the 90s. For that to happen, we need to have our players playing at the highest level. Back in the late 80s to early 90s, football was not as globalized as it is today. The Nigerian league back then was also a very good league. JJ Okocha and some of the stars we had in the early 90s that Clement Westerhoff brought to the spotlight from the local league would have been carried off to Europe at an earlier age if it were in today's market. Football today is as much a business model as it is about winning trophies. Imagine a club gets a player from some African country for 500 thousand euros and 2 years later sells that player for 10 million euros and a 20 percent sell-on clause; if the same player is sold for 30 million euros 2 years later, this club that has spent 500k on this player would have made 15.5 million euros just in sales profits within 3 years. This is the reason why you have scouts all over the world scouting and analyzing players because football is now a business for many clubs. This is why it irritates me when I hear people saying that a player languishing in some backwater league is there because he was just unlucky; people just cannot see what he brings to the table, he has a bad agent, or he is so unlucky. These are all fallacies. Look at the teams that are in the quarterfinals of the World Cup. Look at their rosters, and you will see that they are filled up with players in the top 5 leagues. We often find it difficult to confront the truth in Nigeria; we consistently create justifications for mediocrity, which is why Nigeria constantly fails to perform on the global stage, as we tend to excuse every shortcoming. Some people believe that players in the NPFL can lead Nigeria to the World Cup, and they argue that some of these players are in the league due to bad luck. Some will tell you that playing in the NPFL is not the true definition of their talent level. Just making excuses for nonsense. |

Melvyn Chukwuka Otobo, 18 y/o talented CB at Olympique Lyonnais, just recently added to Lyon's first team preseason camp ahead of the new 2026/27 season and has been digging it in with the first team members. Been meaning to make a post about this lad for a while now so I thought to drop it here now. He was born in France to Naija parents so eligible for 🇫🇷 & 🇳🇬 but yet to debut for any level so wont need a switch. A name to follow keenly.

The Spaniards showing why they are indeed one of the Top 5 favorites. 1-0 up vs Darkhorses, the Belgian Red Devils. It is not eureka yet though... Spain vs France Semis is getting closer. |

De Ketelaere has risen from the grave of the group stage. WTF |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 8:45pm |
Beautiful cross by Castagne... Fine header by Ketelaere to make it 1-1.. 3 goals in 2 K.O game now. The Belgians are dangerous when they get it going forward but Spain still have this aura when they get the ball, like they are still in control Top game. TheSuperNerd: |

As in eh. Ghosted the group stage. Saw Lukaku come off the bench to even get a goal or 2. But Rudi has kept faith with him and it's paid off. Vs USA (Round of 16)... 2 goals. Vs Spain (Quarter finals)... 1 goal. He's risen indeed. Lol Odunayaw: |
