They import the same oil and gas from somewhere else. That does not eliminate the environmental cost; it simply moves the production abroad, adds transportation emissions and makes the country more dependent on foreign suppliers. On top that, they add carbon tax to energy cost.

I do not support instantaneous dismantling of fossil energy for renewable energy. I support a smooth transitioning from heavy reliance on hydrocarbon sources to renewable energy, and even having a robust mix of all.

On the other hand, I do not support over reliance on oil and gas in such a manner that I detest/disparage anything renewable I.e wind, solar, hydrogen etc.

There must be a balance.. because who ever doesn’t strike that balance would be sidelined in the future and would play “catch up”.

There are two extremes that I do not support for clarity:

1. Green energy enthusiast who think, over night, the whole world should transition to renewable/green energy.

2. Conservatives who opine that we must die with oil and gas, and shun everything renewable energy related.

It was a civil case, and not based on evidence. Decisions were made based on "might or might not," in other words, probabilistically.
