Please don't be offended o, I'm seeing GCI flying up and down here 😂 please what's it all about? Also having 45M as my proof of funds is it okay? I have paid 10M plus for my school tuition deposit. Hope the 45M is okay to show as proof of funds with others documents? |

Kossyfelicia:Guaranteed Investment Certificate GCI https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/get-documents/financial-support.html is an option some people use to show IRCC that the money they have is genuinely set aside for their studies. They open a GIC with a Canadian bank and deposit funds for their tuition, living expenses, or both..... you already paying 10 million to your school is a good sign.... GIC does not guarantee visa approval. IRCC still assesses your application as a whole but it shows the money you have is available for study Yes, you are on the right track. Having 45 million available as your Proof of Funds, after already paying 10 million toward your tuition, as long as you clearly explain the source of the funds and meet all other IRCC requirements....

EnglandAmaka:Okay, how will you explain the source of your Proof of Funds to IRCC ? Also, what interest rate are you paying on the money? |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by ATTAHDYE(m): 1:21am On Jul 13 |
The offer is comprehensive and the repayment is well spelt out (more than Mpower loans that most people are used to). The applicant is also advised to explain how he plans to repay the loan, this is where we encourage applicants to have a parent to provide additional support and documents. If everything is OK, you can get an approval, if not the application is denied and the equity paid is refunded. I understand that IRCC may frown at using a loan for studies, but the reason I am taking time to contribute to this topic is to let people know that there are other options other than going to POF people to borrow lump sum deposits the will be flagged by IRCC and denied after you have paid interest for 3-4 months for nothing. It is worth trying. amnotapervert: |

They will give you an offer letter stating they they will pay your tuition fee for the first year and living expenses. This offer letter will form part of your Proof of Financial Support when submitting your application. The interest is stated on the offer letter and you have an amortization table on how to repay the Loan. They have long repayment periods so you will not feel it too much. The work with selected schools/programs and they will process your admissions for you. I think you should research it out. amnotapervert: |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by ATTAHDYE(m): 1:34am On Jul 13 |
Sometimes, an application can be denied because the Visa Officer is not convinced that you will have "access to the funds" when needed. In order to clear that doubt, you can set up a GIC with a Canadian Bank, usually CIBC. You transfer the money (at least 20ķ CAD) to CIBC and they will issue you a certificate. This is now form part of your POF. It doesn't guarantee approval but it increases your chances of getting one. Kossyfelicia: |

ATTAHDYE:The interest rate is fixed at 11.95% APR. Hmmm, I do not advise anyone who values themselves to go forward with this ooo. My mortgage, which I got in 2023, was at 5.34%, and that was during a period when interest rates were very high. A 11.95% interest rate is just too expensive. and its basically slavery IMO. amortization table does not matter when you are paying at interest rate is fixed at 11.95% APR I do not advise anyone to move forward with it. |

LogoDWhiz:For a school to enroll an international in Canada, that school must be DLI. Designated Learning Institution. After graduation, if your school or the program you are doing is not eligible for PGWP (Post Graduate Work Permit), it means that you cannot work after graduation. And what is the need spending millions to study in Canada and not being able to work after graduation to gather Canadian work experience? Some schools could be eligible for PGWP but the program not eligible. So always check before applying. You can check if a school is DLI and eligible for PGWP through the IRCC website |

ATTAHDYE:Assuming I am going for a two year program, if passage handles my first year tuition fee and living expenses, where would I get money for my second year tuition? Will the 24hr per week work pay for my second year tuition fee, living expenses and repayment of passage loan? Even if it can, the burden would be too much. |

ATTAHDYE:Taking a loan (MPOWER or whatever loan) as part or major POF is an automatic red flag on your study permit application because it means that you or your parents or guidian are not financially capable to carry the burden alone. When MPOWER was first introduced ( U.S F1 visa as a case study ) the loan repayment was the major cause of students dropping out of school and dropping out of school as an international student makes you an overstayer then illegal resident . The few people that got visas through loans were those who were able to show near-future verified money deals , monetary inheritances, profits or gains from already sold assets etc. So in summary taking any form of loan as a POF no matter how guaranteed the repayment is a bad omen. |

Morning folks. So I paid my tuition deposit since the 9th via paymytuition to the school and it's yet to land with the school as of today. Likely due to the delayed banking system in the US and Canada for overseas payment clearance. I plan on paying my tuition in full this week and I am wondering if there is a faster payment method. Please don't mention SWIFT. Also, to those who suceessfully did a GIC deposit payment in a bank in Canada, please tell me what method you used to transfer the money to the bank in canada besides SWIFT. Thanks. |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by ATTAHDYE(m): 11:39am On Jul 14 |
To the best of my knowledge, the most commonly used payment option for tuition fee is flywire. As for GIC deposit, it has to be SWIFT, because you're expected to transfer the money from your Dom account to the GIC/Canadian bank account. All the best. Mavor: |
