If you're new on Cowrywise, or don't already have a running investment with the fund manager of choice, you cannot. It's an update they introduced a while back which basically removed the ability to choose a preferred fund manager
Re: Mutual Funds by investmentvirus(f): 9:28pm On Jul 12
true, they usually pay less.

AncestralPowers:
I have an account with 3 of these fund managers, these rates doesn't always tally with what you are paid daily, sometimes you even get about 2% to 3% less... That's just the fact.

It's been like that for a long time.

People complaining of stanbic low rates should also put into consideration their monthly compounding. Monthly compound interest of stanbic makes their rate equivalent to 16% per annum although it's still relatively low compared to others.

Dollar fund is not that profitable due to ROI & the investment behind it
Re: Mutual Funds by Princewalexy99: 10:27am On Jul 14
Dear fellow team members,

I just checked my STL MMF (1click app) and observed my invested capital has multiplied by two against the expected interest giving the fact that I opened the account on the 2nd of this month.

What could have caused ths, is anyone facing same?

@AllyPolly Welcome to the world of conservative investors. It's always good to start with MMF and build your confidence or as a risk taker MMF is good for a backbone support incase one missed it with the more risky investment instrument.
That is by the way.

For the firm to go with based on your expectations, when it comes to services, no one cap fits all, it depends on individual investor and your benchmark of what you accept as good service. As for safety or risk, all MMF are low risk irrespective of the fund manager.

For me I can only give u a list base on the ones I have transacted with and where I have a go to person.

@Demdem, I’ll start by explaining the nature of dollar funds generally, then share my recommendation.

First, it’s important to understand that dollar funds are not classified as low-risk investments; they fall under the medium-risk category.

This is because dollar funds are largely invested in Eurobonds, whose prices fluctuate based on market conditions. Bond prices are inversely related to yields, so there is a possibility of capital fluctuation. However, this risk is relatively moderate compared to equities, as dollar funds are not highly volatile.

In terms of returns, dollar funds do not accrue interest daily like MMF instead, returns are typically paid as dividends either quarterly or annually which investors can choose to receive as payouts or reinvest.

To truly benefit from a dollar fund, you should have a long-term investment perspective.

One of the major advantages of dollar funds is value preservation and hedging against local currency inflation. It allows investors to earn returns while holding funds in dollars, rather than leaving money idle in a domiciliary account with no any form of earnings.

Dollar funds are especially beneficial for individuals who earn in dollars or have future dollar-denominated expenses.

Without bias, my preference remains the Norrenberger Dollar Fund, as it currently offers one of the most competitive rates it's currently around 14%.

I hope this helps.

MESSAGE FOR STL TEAM

Currently, the invested capital and the accrued interest appear to be combined, making it difficult to distinguish between the original amount invested and the returns earned. For transparency and easier portfolio tracking, I recommend displaying the principal (capital invested) and the accrued interest/returns as separate figures, along with the total portfolio value as it is obtained in other investment sectors.

This enhancement would help investors better monitor the performance of their investments and improve the overall user experience.

I wish this is considered. I look forward to seeing continued improvements to the platform (app).

Indeed, it is a medium risk investment. Does this mean that the possibility of losing one's capital still exist?

No, they reinvest interest every quarter. ie interest accrues daily but it's reinvested or paid out at the end of the quarter.

@Akindelelawrence, I sent you a PM. reply let's discuss. I need to ask some more questions that may not be appropriate on a public forum so that you can be well guided.

Though one can invest at any age with many other factors in consideration, it's always advisable to start early to have advantage of time.
