To put Nwabali situation into easy understanding, Nwabali allowed the little success he had achieved with the SE got into him and started rating himself too high. Such thought made him feel if he leaves Chippa, even Man U would come for him. But he was shocked when no team bigger than Chippa all over the world came for him after leaving Chippa without an alternative already on ground. He had to return to his vomit
Nwabali made a serious mistake by leaving in the first place with no concrete offer, let's hope that Chippa's management team will still be professional enough to play him, otherwise na super eagles go dey suffer the inconsistencies of his form.

Pele faced injuries that nearly ended his career in 1966 and still managed to play the 1970 WC and delivered an unforgettable tournament winning his 3rd WC.
Messi never faced the barrage of career threatening tackles and eventual injuries that Pele faced at the 1966 WC. Injuries was a major factor that took its toll on Pele and they did not have access to the kind of tech and body conditioning therapies available today that can see one play till even 50.

Maradona did not play till such age because of drugs. And he did not need to. He had done and achieved more than enough in club and international football.

Never ever disrespect these GOATs... most especially Pele, the GOAT of GOATs.

AndSunGorilla:
But at 39!!!! Did Pele or Maradona play at this level? Consistently playing at a top level for over 20 years!!!!

Which coach will leave his best players on the bench?

Saka, Eze, Manoo, and Rashford on the bench, for what? Is this match fixing?

Because I couldn't understand why he kept this best players on the bench.

The guy even removed Stone and Reece. grin grin grin

This seems a deliberate attempt to weaken the team to give Argentina the upper hand else tell me why you would leave these players on the bench in the first place.

This is Sabotage.
grin
Let the Spanish coach do his own sabotage come Sunday, we are waiting.

On the serious note,Saka and Rushford shouldn't be sitting on the bench,I have said it before, especially Saka.

Nwabali is good and has done well for the SE but if he is club less or not playing regularly upon returning to Chippa, he will lose his starting shirt at the SE to Okoye or Okonkwo

Culled from Stade De Reims site...

John Otomewo, newly deployed sentinel

Stade de Reims is delighted to announce the arrival of John Otomewo. Joining from Hapoel Jerusalem, the 19-year-old Nigerian defensive midfielder has signed a contract with the Red & Whites until 2031.

At the age of 17, John Otomewo made his professional debut with Abia Comets FC, a team in the Nigerian second division. In 2025, he joined the top flight of Nigerian football, signing with Gombe United, where he continued his development for several months. Eager to take the next step in his career, he then moved to Israel and joined Hapoel Jerusalem, a first-division club. His talent quickly earned him a place in the first team: since his arrival, he has started in over 90% of his team's matches.

These performances did not go unnoticed and naturally attracted the interest of several European clubs. A promising and highly regarded talent, he is ranked by organizations such as the CIES Football Observatory (a research center specializing in the statistical analysis of world football) among the top three U21 midfielders playing outside the top five European leagues.

So, a new chapter awaits the 19-year-old Nigerian as he joins Stade de Reims. It's a nurturing environment that has already seen many African talents blossom during their first experience in Europe. He will notably be able to count on the presence of his compatriot Hafiz Ibrahim in the locker room to facilitate his integration and support his first steps in Champagne.

John Otomewo: "I am very happy to be at Stade de Reims. This will allow me to develop and progress in the best possible conditions, but above all, I want to help the Club achieve its objectives this season."

Welcome to the City of Coronations, John!

Gbam plus during the dying embers of the game the Argentines clearly had momentum so it would have been wiser to see out the time remaining and regroup for extra time.

This is in contrast to the English who started defending 30 minutes to go even with all the talent at their disposal to have finished off Argentina before resorting to defending deeply.

Goke7:
England has more football pedigree than Egypt and with the array of talents and stars they have more was expected from them compared to Egypt. England was also chasing history to be in the finals after 60 years and for a country who boasts of having the most exciting football league in the world what happened yesterday was not normal so Egypt can’t come into this conversation at all!

Tuchel is proof that even some of the best and elite football tacticians can make really foolish decisions. England had no business losing that semifinals if they kept on attacking Argentina especially after going 1 up.
His decision to bring 3 defenders in as his 1st 3 changes was diabolically silly and he paid the price. Kudos to Argentina for taking advantage of such tactical stupidity. They deserved to be in the final over a team that decided to go haram.
It is just too disappointing. Coming from a coach of such magnitude. What he did, Southgate could easily replicate. Tuchel was brought to take England to the next level. Make them good at keeping the ball. When it counted most, he failed them. I feel too disappointed in him. Especially, being one of his fans since his Dortmund coaching days.

Christantus Uche returns to Getafe… To stay?

Getafe CF is progressing in its preparations for the 2026/27 season. José Bordalás' side has a very exciting campaign ahead, with their participation in the UEFA Conference League as the main attraction. However, they will not neglect LaLiga EA Sports , where they will try to replicate their strong second half of the season.

Furthermore, this season they seem to have an interesting "signing." Christantus Uche has returned to the Getafe squad this summer after the conditions for making the purchase option mandatory following his loan to Crystal Palace were not met. He is now training with the rest of the group, awaiting news about his future, which, at the moment, appears to be linked to the Madrid-based club.

As we were saying, everything points to Christantus Uche staying at Getafe CF for the 2026/27 season. The midfielder, or attacker as José Bordalás calls him, was at the center of one of the biggest transfer sagas of the past summer. The Madrid-based club needed to offload players to finance future signings, and the Nigerian didn't want to leave Getafe. He ended up going to Crystal Palace on loan, an agreement that was ultimately broken and then renegotiated on the last day. However, far from ending there, the story, like something out of a soap opera, was finalized as a loan with an "obligation" to buy based on appearances, an obligation that was never fulfilled, even though LaLiga counted him as if he had been sold.

Now, this season, everything points to there being no need for the player to leave the Madrid club. The club is focusing on him for its preseason content , with images both on the beach and his reunion with Bordalás. According to sources close to Getafe, the player has no intention of leaving, and the manager is counting on him. Furthermore, according to MARCA, his salary wouldn't pose a problem for Getafe's finances.

So, everything indicates that, for another year, we will have the midfielder with the soul of a striker who captivated so many fantasy managers in the 24/25 season.

See I get being forced to bunker due to superior attacking quality of opponent (even at that show some attacking ambition) however what I can't forgive is going full haram when you still have the resources to damage your opponent.

Look at Nigeria vs CIV in the 2024 AFCON final we just invited pressure after we scored whereas had we showed intent like Fabregas spoke to by bringing Moffi and KC earlier in the 2nd half maybe we would have stemmed the Ivorians attacking surge.

Now speaking specifically to last night's game Tuchel could have brought Saka, Rashford, Mainoo, even Madueke but he chose to be cowardly.
