TheSuperNerd:personally hate comparing players across era because there’s no basis for comparison but genuinely how is Messi below Maradona? Maradona has nothing over Messi so how is he above him? |

Odunayaw:You dey mind them 😂😂 My own is Messi is a world cup winner. No amount of epistles and thesis can change that. Their hypocrisy stinks so bad. Imagine na Messi dem give golden ball eh... Dem for don litter here with plenty tears about how FIFA is favoring him. |

jihday:Maradona isn't. Winning at a younger age isn't a point, neither is "he had more charisma" nor the nostalgia of an emotional country winning a WC after losing the Falkland war to England. The thing he did with Napoli is the only thing Messi didn't do. But meh, winning Leagues cup with Inter Miami is not small too. |

Odunayaw:Let me be more elaborate. Possession heavy. That is what I class Tiki Taka. Yes, Arrigo Sacchi played a possessive style but it is not as possession heavy as what the Guardiola school of thought needs. If the Italian FA is looking into Guardiola, it means they are prepared for change and a deviation from their ways to accept a different school of thought. What is most important is that from the International, to the club football, possession heavy style (Tiki Taka) is dominating. Unless you can point to a more effective dominant style. |

2030 World Cup Will Be 64 Teams Not 48 - CONMEBOL President CONMEBOL president Alejandro Domínguez has announced that the 2030 FIFA World Cup will have 64 participating teams, not 48. He also adds that the kickoff of the tournament will be in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay in commemoration of the World Cup's centennial, after which it will move to the main venues in Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. |

MetalJigsaw:Whether Messi was old is not the point. The point is Rodri produced one of the best masterclasses in the history of the world cup. Making such an impact from the defensive midfield role is amazing. |

Odunayaw:Actually, Maradona and Pele navigated a lot of tackles that Messi wouldn't survive in today's football. 😂😂😂 |

mostob:I give that era it's due but hey Messi was targeted roughly by devils in Real Madrid for example. Messi in his prime almost seemed allergic to falling. It is CR7 who would have not survived |

Damioduso1:Smh. Well, first of all, we saw this coming. At least we now have some sort of confirmation. We never talk 48 teams finish, we don dey talk 64. I understand this World Cup was successful but come on. 32 teams was honestly the sweet spot but it seems we're never getting back to that at this point. Secondly, if Nigeria cannot qualify for this tournament, we may need to ban football from the country totally. Make everybody go rest. |

TheGoodJoe:It is this tiki taka that I said earlier will be difficult for them to accept. Italy has indigenous coaches that play possession football without losing Italian identity. But oh well let's wait and see. |

| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Odunayaw(m): 8:58pm On Jul 20 |
Damioduso1:Tournament hosting effectively belongs to an exclusive few or a multi country hosting henceforth. On the bright side, countries can share the financial burden, and no more fairytale second chance nonsense. However we'd rue the drop of quality of the tournament since minnows will become a regular feature. The 32 team format was the best. At least Nigeria will be qualifying regularly. |

I just hope it is a project indeed similar to what is at Como because it is what I have read so far regarding Venezia's recent resurgence and return to Serie A in tow with their new american owners, Lieweke and Drake. jihday: |
