Even prior to France 98 Jonathan Akpoborie was the best Nigerian striker base on form but Yekini then playing in Switzerland for Zurich Abi grasshoppers and injured Amokachi made the team instead

All the same the Godfather of player racketing and export was Clemens Westahof and Keshi was a good student of his
I think it's settled now that no be only local coaches

Oga Sun,tell me who was having better football career during that period between Kaita and Seyi?I meant 2009/2010 season prior to World Cup cuz there was no justification to pick Kaita over Seyi?Yes Ayila and Etuhu accepted but not Kaita.
Personally sir, at that time I would have picked Keita too. He had a great 2008 Olympics and had some good matches with the SE, aside the red card against Greece, he was playing well for the SE.

the same Keshi that invited an unattached player from the local scene for the qualifiers against Chad Abi Niger and handed the player the reverend number 10 shirt in kaduna 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I think that was his last game as coach of the super eagles

Have you asked yourself how Uche Nwafor who was struggling to get game time at vv venlo then and featured mostly for the clubs U21 side made the World Cup team ahead of Martins who was flying with levante in Spain then, Imoh Ezekiel who was banging in goals for fun at Belgium in the colors of standard liege and Ikechukwu Uche who also was doing well in laliga

Same goes to Uchebo (flavor na abania) who didn’t get to 8 goals that season for lowly rated Cecile Brugge in the Belgian league but made the World Cup team. The same league a young imoh Ezekiel was destroying in the colors of standard liege but wasn’t deemed good enough

Oshaniwa made it to the World Cup ahead of Taiwo who was doing pretty well with dynamo kiev

Ruben Gabriel made it to the same World Cup ahead of Haruna Lukman who was doing well for dynamo kieve and Ajagun who was a regular with Greek giants panathiniakos

Do you know that if not for top men in Nigerian football house Keshi almost dropped Yobo and odemwingie for that World Cup?

To cap it all after that World Cup all the undeserving players he smuggled to the super eagles their career got stalled and were not heard about till date 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Bros leave matter abeg
grin grin Flavor Na Abania.

You are only bringing up all the ones you believed to be the wrong calls,
but what if he had succeeded and reached semi finals with those players he took to the WC like he did during AFCON by dropping Taiwo,Osaze,Nsofo and Martins.

What I'm saying is that, the quality and type of players he selected does not prove that he was guilty of bribery, maybe those types of players are his choice.

Uche Nwofor and Flavor made the team simply because they were youth internationals, the same thing he tried at the AFCON with the likes of Omeruo,Echiejile,Onazi,Ideye and Efe,but it backfired with the two Uches at the WC.

Keshi may have collected bribe from players, but you cannot prove it by using the type and quantity of his selected players.

Where do we begin, youth football,Super Eagles, club football.
I like Obiora very much that I was so angry that Onigbinde kept him on the bench at the world cup where he would have helped Okocha on that Midfield, but Mikel was better.

I have rewatched his highlights
How come we can't produce such talented players anymore? Okocha, Oruma, Obiorah?

ask yourself

how many of such players did we see at the just concluded world cup?

modern football has fade them away

all we care now is results, nobody wants to be entertained again

you can dribble from earth to moon and nobody will care if you are not scoring or providing assist

pele won the world cup with brazil super team as a matter of fact he did not contribute on his 2nd world cup truimp because of injury but the Brazilian team still went on to demolish teams in that particular world cup tournament without the injured pele, to show you that pele was helped by his brazil super team, now compare pele brazil super team with the argentina team diego maradona took to two finals, winning one

My own devotion is to Maradonna. I don't have affinity for Messi, Ronaldo and Pele. Next to Maradonna, I'd pick Zidane, then Ronaldinho, Bergkamp, Okocha.

Maradona didn't have 10 carpenters with him either. Yes not as great as Brazil 70 but let's not stretch it.

Even if you take away Pele's effect from 1962, he has two others and more or less, it is better than the tournament to forget that Maradona had in 1990 because of injury.

Lol... A list that is merely a futile attempt to rewrite history. Rubbish list just like any other western/northwestern or mainstream European media-littered list agendarizing Messi as #1 so much in an attempt to brainwash football fanbases. Lol

The fact that Samuel Eto'o fils is missing from a list of 100 further shows the absolute clownery of this entire list.

Pele unbiasedly and undisputably remains The GOAT of GOATs.
Eto'o is undeniably the African GOAT.
Failed history rewrite attempt. They should go back to football history classes.

Flying Eagles list by positions

Since all reports of the U20 Flying Eagles list did not do justice to the positions/roles of the players on the list... I decided to help out based on my info regarding each player (note that a few like Manneh listed in attack could also play in midfield as a #10)

Here we are below....

#5 Odinaka Alfred
#12 Saifullahi Yusuf
#13 Israel Joseph Samuel
#22 Gift Subi Ebitimi

Midfielders (MFs)

#10 Habila Simeon

Some Flying Eagles lads to watch @2026WafuBU20

#20 Abdulmuiz Adeleke, CF (Sporting Supreme FC) - 4️⃣

Adeleke is a leftfooted striker who is also just as comfortable with his right foot. Tagging him as an Ambipedal attacker is more apt.
Technically astute and a very smart finisher.

He was Top scorer at the 2024 Wafu B U17 Qualifiers with 4 goals (2 vs Ghana, 2 vs Togo) with Nigeria finishing 3rd after a 3-2 win vs Ghana.

He also bagged 8 goals from 7 games (391mins) at the U19 2025/26 National Youth League's North Central Conference standing (9 teams) and added 5 more goals including a brace⚽️⚽️ in the NY-League Super 8 final vs Grassrunners FC which saw Muiz Adeleke square up against Angelo Agbejoye (now at Djurgardens in Sweden) and Abdoulaye Agbejoye (his striking competition in the Flying Eagles Final List).

His other 3 goals in the National Youth League Super 8 came against Kwara Football academy (1) and Supreme Kings FA (2).

Africa's most valuable player on the market today, Yan Diomande, who shone for Ivory Coast (Cote D'Ivoire) at the 2026 World Cup is being seriously chased by the biggest and #1 elite club in the world, Real Madrid.

Now that is a massive. If PSG or Liverpool do not get this lad, then Real Madrid possibly will especially since Bayern wont agree to sell Michael Olise.

Time will tell when Yan ends up but one thing is nearly certain: He is leaving RB Leipzig and this would really open up gametime opportunities for Sani Suleiman at Leipzig (who is already impressing in Preseason).
