oladele239:Physical inspection needed, I suspect a lean condition issue, since one of the codes point to the downstream 02 sensor pegged lean, another probable cause would be related to the variable valve timing system actuator the screen might be dirty or the actuator failed, I’ve seen an instance where that caused a misfire |

All nook and crannies with scan tool. Actually know what they are doing. And too the jobless diy guy here with zero experience. That’s their only aim is to bring me down. Without not trying to move forward in there stumped life. Will actually calm down and give people directive like 😂. They don’t actually think or something. 😂 and also for car owners. Try and pay a certified Auto Technician. To get your car handle rightly. Not some jumbo |

twinskenny:He should have at least dropped the fault code for you sir, but I suspect a catalyst efficiency below threshold fault code, basically telling you that your catalyst isn’t properly functioning. Probable cause would include bad downstream 02 sensors, exhaust leak before the catalyst ( which is what I think might be your issue ), or no catalyst present In the vehicle |

RyanAutomotive:Honestly, I don't know how we technicians behave sometimes, this was totally uncalled for Someone dropped a post about an issue he has and a technician gave his own opinion on the issue, but now you're calling that opinion rubbish, it's not fair really. If you even study the nature of the fault the technicians opinion is very much correct or the next line of action judging it's isolated to a particular bank of the engine, but to you na rubbish |

tobiyclassy:Try replacing the key fob batteries first ( the remote battery ) and see if that works And if your blade key isn't opening the door most likely it the door lock mechanism has issues But for the remote I think the battery is down probably |

Good Day All. I just got a 2008 Venza (V6) and I observed that the sound is kind of high than what I think it should be. So, I decided to check the car this morning when I started it and discovered that the fans came on as I started the car. My question is this: Is it normal for the fans to come on once I start the car without any load (e.g. A/C) or the engine been warm? Thanks. |
| Re: Tell Us Your Car Faults. Let's Assess And Fix Them by RyanAutomotive: 12:37pm On Jul 26 |
honourdan:Good day sir. Vehicle: Toyota Venza 2008 V6 (3.5L) Concern: Both cooling fans come on immediately after starting the engine, even when the A/C is OFF and the engine is still cold. Let’s address this properly before replacing the cooling fans, relays, or temperature sensors unnecessarily. • Understanding the Concern From your explanation: • You recently purchased the vehicle. • The engine appears to run normally. • Immediately after starting the engine from cold, both cooling fans come on. • The A/C is OFF. • The engine has not yet reached operating temperature. Under normal factory operation, this behavior is generally not expected on a healthy Toyota Venza V6. Normally: * On a cold start with the A/C OFF, the radiator cooling fans should remain OFF. * As the engine reaches its normal operating temperature (approximately 90–95°C), the Engine Control Module (ECM) commands the fans to operate as needed. * If the A/C is switched ON, one or both fans may operate immediately to provide airflow through the condenser. • Important Observation If the fans are running immediately on every cold start with the A/C OFF, one or more of the following conditions should be investigated. 1, Cooling Fan Has Been Bypassed (Very Common) This is one of the most common modifications seen on Nigerian-used vehicles. Some technicians bypass the fan control system so the fans run whenever the ignition is ON, often to mask an underlying cooling system fault. While this may seem like a quick fix, it is not Toyota’s factory design. 2, Faulty Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor If the ECM receives an incorrect temperature signal indicating the engine is overheating, it may command the fans to run continuously as a protective measure. 3. Cooling Fan Relay or Control Module Fault A relay that is stuck closed or a faulty cooling fan control module can cause the fans to run continuously, regardless of engine temperature. 4, Wiring Modification Previous repairs or electrical modifications may have altered the fan wiring, causing the fans to receive constant power whenever the ignition is switched on. 5, Fail-Safe Strategy On some Toyota models, if the ECM detects certain faults or loses communication with critical temperature sensors, it may intentionally run the cooling fans continuously to protect the engine from overheating. A professional scan can help determine if this is occurring. • What Should Be Checked Now Before replacing any components, I recommend the following: 1, Perform a professional computerized diagnostic scan. Check for: • Current, pending, and history fault codes. • Live Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) readings. • Cooling fan command status. 2, Inspect the cooling fan wiring for signs of bypassing or non-factory modifications. 3, Test the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor and compare its live reading with the actual engine temperature. 4, Inspect the cooling fan relays and control circuit for proper operation. 5, Verify that the fan operation matches Toyota’s factory control strategy. • Do NOT Do This • Do NOT assume the fans are supposed to run continuously because “Toyota V6 engines are hot.” • Do NOT disconnect the fans to stop the noise without diagnosing the cause. • Do NOT replace the ECT sensor, relays, or fan assembly based on guesswork. Proper diagnosis should always come first. • Professional Insight In our experience, one of the first things we check on Toyota V6 models with this complaint is whether the cooling fan system has been modified or bypassed by a previous technician. Many vehicles arrive with the fans hard-wired to run continuously, which may hide the original fault but does not solve it. Restoring the cooling system to its factory operating strategy is usually the correct approach after identifying the root cause. • Ryan Automotive Limited Recommendation The next step should be a structured cooling system diagnosis, including: • Professional computerized diagnostic scanning. • Live data analysis of the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor. • Cooling fan command verification. • Relay and control circuit testing. • Inspection for wiring modifications or fan bypass. • Cooling system evaluation to ensure factory operation. At Ryan Automotive Limited, we diagnose cooling system faults systematically before recommending repairs. Our goal is to identify the exact root cause and restore the vehicle to proper factory operation, helping clients avoid unnecessary parts replacement and repeated repairs. If you’re within Lagos or can bring the vehicle down, Ryan Automotive Limited will be glad to carry out a comprehensive inspection of your cooling system and advise you on the most appropriate solution. honourdan:Hmmm it's actually 2 things Either your vehicles fan has been connected directly and made to run off ignition power( typically involves deleting the thermostats ) and running a separate relay The second reason why this can happen is actually a safety feature I've noticed on Toyota and Lexus When there seems to be an issues with the ect sensor, or the fan module, the car would blare the fan continuously so the vehicle won't overheat, ( is your temperature gauge reading anything ) If it's the first case scenario, it's not like it'll destroy your engine, but you'd be having higher fuel consumptions because the car gets to operating temperature slower. if you'd like to revert back to manufacturers spec a mechanic would need to properly inspect and ascertain why they directed the fans in the first place so as to avoid future overheating issues. If you're in Lagos you can always reach out |

Thank you. Funny enough I went with someone who does inspection before buying the car and I don't know why he didn't see it, either with his scanner or physically. The tire pressure light was on (which is the only light on) so I thought one of the tyres was not adequately inflated, I checked all four tyres to verify their pressure just to find out that it was just one tyre that was very low, after putting the right pressure the light still stayed on. I told the guy the next day and he said yes he saw it but didn't tell me because it doesn't matter. I am saying this to point out that maybe there was something about the heat that came up on the scanner but he didn't tell me, when next I get to his place will bring up the issue with him. Thanks a lot. Wish I was in Lagos, would have definitely come over to your place. Thanks once again for all you do. Louiscars: |

Tyre pressure light cud also indicate that d tyre sensor is bad. And this tyre sensor helps to notify d driver dat d tyre is low on pressure. So it's not dat important. For d fans connected together . Most mechanics connect Dem directly kus of dey believe d thermostats in d engine might not be working so well. Me I tell Dem not to tamper with my own factory setting honourdan: |

Hi Nairalanders, I need a reliable wheel/suspension mechanic in Lagos, preferably on the Mainland, but I don’t mind going to the Island for someone who actually knows their onions. I drive a Toyota and have been hearing a persistent noise from one of the front wheels. I suspect it might be a worn bushing, but I’m not entirely sure. The last two mechanics I took it to completely misdiagnosed the issue, so I want to avoid further guesswork and money waste. Please drop your trusted recommendations (contacts and workshop location). Thanks! |
