maidaboi:Gaurdiola has killed them off. No where is this tragedy writ large than Brazilian football. They just can't cope. They have become like Malawi. They can't produce Ronaldinho, Zico kind of players. It's really sad. Brazil will not win the world cup again. They won't. I say this because that way of playing is so ingrained in them. Truth is that samba is a way of life, a sweeping culture which expressed itself through football as one of its mode of expression. Yes Brazil moved away from pure samba after the loss in 82 but that was not a total abandonment of the essentials of samba - flair, rhythm, skillful movement with the ball. They only toned it down and added more pragmatism to it. But now football has moved away totally with this emphasis on positional play, low block and rigid tactical discipline. This caught Brazil off guard and now Brazil is suffering from a deep identity crisis. Even if you have a Ronaldinho, positional play and low block will render him useless because such players need you to move so that they can dribble you and create space. Such players have been rendered redundant. For instance tango is a dance in which two people tangle together. Okay you are a good tango dancer but nobody comes and gets tangled with you in the dance. No matter how skilled you are, your skill has been rendered irrelevant. Now na Rodri be the kind players wey dey thrive in modern football. Stand - in -the- middle -of -pitch- kind- of players and be spraying passes like sprinkler in the middle of a garden. That kind of deadness is alien to samba. Samba is still alive in music, in art, in the throbbing vivacity of Brazilian urban culture but as far as football is concerned - it is dead. It has become anachronistic. Unfit for the times. I pity Brazil. Gaurdiola is a plague. He brought the architectural style called brutalism - functional, cold, dead, ugly - into football. May tiki taka perish! |

TheSuperNerd:I too can say I have seen clips, videos and reels of most of the people you mentioned and I came to the conclusion that Messi better I base my conclusions on the achievement of Messi himself how he achieved these things against who he achieved his achievement( because I believe footballers now are generally better than their counterparts who pioneered the sport) I also base it on the development of the sport it self. I know you said to rest it but am curious but I'm not trying to argue nor change your mind I'm just curious as to what are the perspective and facts that truly and factually support Pele being the goat as the Truth. I just want you to show them. |

You have not seen all or studied all to the extent I have done. So dont come to my mention and lie that you have seen this or that to score cheap points. I am 100% sure you did not watch even more than 2 clips of Didi. Also, You in particular seem hell bent on derailing this thread with your messi delusions. I told you before to rest it and not bring your zombie-fandom to my mentions again. Let this end here. You messi fanatics will not forcefully brainwash another. If you push further, I block you... it is that simple. Lawag3: |

Mujtahida:It is still alive in the Brazilian league the thing with Brazil football now is the fact that most of their players go to Europe and work under modern European coaches and managers imbibe European ideas bring those ideas to the national team not helped by the fact they now have a European coach. The last time they won anything was when they had an indigenous coach for the long term I think 2019 Copa America. Since then interim and foreign coaches. |

Someone wants to lie and tell me of all people that he or she watched all the clips and videos of the greats and comes to a conclusion that only a zombie fan can reach is spitting lies upon lies. If I throw just one question about the so called clips watched now, he will stutter. But again, I wont derail the thread with mindless and futile debates. TheSuperNerd: |

TheSuperNerd:No don't do this I really do enjoy your takes on many things especially on this thread even when they are not popular because I always see the sense I what you say but this? i could also call you a liar and say all you've said concerning this GOAT issue is because you're delusional but I won't say that because I don't know you I have no way of verifying that you're lying. I wasn't trying to score cheap points the videos of past footballers are not accessible to exclusively you and I wasn't trying to argue knowing you on this thread I was trying to pick your brain on this issues since most of what you say to me holds substance. On me derailing the thread with Messi delusions I rarely post on here I have mentioned you less than five times on Messi Pele goat status you told me to rest it and I did until today I saw your post about that I was like let me just ask why and how you came to see Pele as your goat I was civil and I have been civil on this thread. It is your prerogative to ignore or answer but the way you did disappointed me you choose to slander me and for what ? I'll give this a rest You can go ahead and block me. you're inconsequential where I'm concerned so your blocking neither adds or takes from me |

You hardly post here yet the only thing you majorly wanna yap about when you come to my mention is your messi delusions. I find that very disturbing. And you and I know you are lying about seeing enough clips and videos of all the Greats I mentioned and didnt mention. You cant even tell me offhand now and without consulting any clips or internet search about Garrincha's profile in detail. Or about Didi. Ofcos you saw some clips... only few clips but you never saw enough. And no you cant dare call me a liar because I have the track record here of always meaning what I say. If I can consistently follow and talk confidently about Nigerians footballers all across the globe, locally and abroad so easily and dig up any info on them past, present and beyond, why would I have to lie about watching and analysing all available clips and videos of the greats in the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s eras? Look, it is obvious you are just a messi delusionist and Messi zombie fan who cant stand my posts everytime I happen to discuss who the GOAT of GOATs or True GOAT of Football is. So I will gladly block you now because I dont want any more of your derailing intrusions as the only thing you discuss in my mentions is Messi and hardly anything on Nigerian football. Lawag3: |

Watching this Super Falcons match Vs Malawi, it is safe to say that Nigeria is not winning this cup., Let's just pray to qualify for the World Cup. Leadership requires decisive decisions, unfortunately this is lacking in the current NFF leadership. Despite winning the last WAFCON, Madugu should have been sacked and a coach that is technically and tactically sound appointed. Madugu is far below average. Again, the Emilokan factor in the appointment of coaches and selection of teams is doing the expected damage to our football (male and female/ Senior and Junior), we can only encourage them to continue prioritizing nepotism ahead of competency, we shall see how it ends. Finally, these girls should be made to stay out of the Social Media and focus on their football for the period of this tournament. |

TheSuperNerd:Well aren't you insufferable. Because my idea of a Goat differs from yours u call it delusions. What do you call enough because I said I have seen clips of most of the people you mentioned the one I have seen the least of among them is Eusebio you now know this because I told you and you can't tell I'm lying or not so don't flatter yourself I one of my mentions before all this the one you said had lot of holes that I didn't know the history of football I did mention garincha and your u can't invalidate what I know. On that you told me to rest the issue which I did. Yes I won't dare because of the reasons you mentioned but then I won't also do that if I didn't know you personally I won't come online on a faceless forum and call people liars when I can't prove if they are lying or not you're a man of facts at least on this thread so why foolishly assume? Funnily enough I didn't mention you because of Messi I only did so like I said before to see the reasons you'd list on why your believe Pele is the GOAT. I told you directly that I don't want to argue or change your mind. But that flew over your head surprisingly. You could have either ignored the question or answered if you asked me a question I'll also answer you with respect I don't care who you believe is the GOAT that's your personal opinion and preference. You insulted me for nothing but your pride. PS we have had discussions on Nigeria football not a lot but we have. You're have brilliant takes here on this thread with a brilliant track record. But you're deeply flawed. P.s there's no question you want to ask me on footballers then especially gifted ones that I can't answer.
