A dramatic video of an alleged thief has sparked widespread reactions after showing the alleged thief in a tense standoff with an angry crowd in Lagos State.

In the viral clip, the alleged thief is seen holding a knife in each hand, while some online accounts also claimed he was armed with a cutlass, as he faces a group of men who had allegedly caught him stealing.

Rather than surrender, the suspect reportedly stood his ground with the weapons, forcing the crowd to keep a safe distance. Throughout the video, bystanders can be heard shouting and gesturing while others record the confrontation on their phones. No one attempts to rush him, apparently fearing they could be attacked.

The video only captures the standoff, and it remains unclear what happened afterward or how the incident ended.

The footage has since attracted mixed reactions on social media. While some users criticized the crowd for standing back instead of finding a way to pin the suspect down, arguing that he appeared to be a dangerous criminal, others defended their actions, saying it would have been too risky to confront an armed man directly. They argued that it would have been safer to find a way to disarm him rather than rush at him.

Maybe the Association of thieves are tired of dancing to entertain the public when being caught, the embarrassment is too much for them to bear. So instead of dancing when caught they decided to fight back.
