So many Nigerians are gonna lose their money with this Dangote IPO, all na hyping....
The level of euphoria worries me. When everyone already believes it's the opportunity of a lifetime, there's a good chance much of the upside has already been priced in. The question is no longer whether it's a great company….it's whether today's buyers are paying tomorrow's price.

@Neurotika, when it comes to anything Dangote, the pattern has always been the same. From experience, beyond the fundamentals of the companies themselves, the Dangote name carries strong investor confidence and appeal.

I recall when Dangote acquired the then government-controlled salt company, NASCON; getting an allocation was extremely difficult. The same story played out with Dangote Sugar and Dangote Flour; they were heavily oversubscribed, and many investors had funds refunded due to excess demand.

The refinery will likely follow this same trend. It is not new, and I expect it to be oversubscribed as well.

Historically, patient investors have consistently benefited from investing in Dangote companies, and I believe this refinery will not be an exception. While there may be hype, it still presents a solid investment opportunity.

As for pricing, fluctuations are normal; stock prices go up and down based on market forces, not necessarily because a company is underperforming.

Personally, I advise my clients to subscribe for at least the minimum offer once it opens, to reduce the risk of fund returns due to oversubscription. Of course, investors will still have opportunities to buy later on the NGX trading floor.

Well, the above is just a submission, not investment advice; you can still meet your investment adviser if interested. Moreover, apart from Dangote, there are other great companies listed on the NGX that investors can invest in to grow and preserve their wealth.

Nicely put. Well, i’m just a bit wary of stocks that come with this level of hype. Dangote Sugar was massively oversubscribed when it listed back in 2007 too…if I recall correctly. Nearly two decades later, it's still around N80. I'm always chasing alpha, and this one doesn't really look like it to me. I may be wrong anyway…just my own evaluation.

Stanbic IBTC owns Blunest and interest rate depends on the particular investment you opt for.

The money market fund is currently 15.45%

It the end of the month/ start of a new month. It's the normal Stanbic shenanigan, it's the norm for Stanbic. It'd sort itself out eventually
