ICE has acted unprofessionally under trumps administration..

And that is what every sensible human being has condemned.. Renne good was shut, same for Alex and other innocent passers by or legal immigrants that have been extrajudicially killed or dragged on the street. No organized government would justify the killing of its citizens or immigrants because of activism or protest.

If you remember well I described and compared the ICE MO to how SARS was intimidating folks, threatening and even killing non criminals in Nigeria.

I am against indiscriminate killing of innocent people.. you seem to love it when innocent people are killed.. well it’s what you’ve always loved.. you basically relish in blood shed of defenseless people and you love oppression of the weak. If you have supported the killing of those two souls, may their blood be on the heads of the killers and its supporters. Say Amen!!

I have always iterated that I support legal immigration (and which by the way Trump is also cracking down on), but detest violence against immigrants and more so legal immigrants.

Trump has suspended legal immigration for over 70 countries.. asylum program is now predominantly for white South Africans..employment based and family based legal immigration has stalled.. green card holders are being intimated right left and center..
ICE is not going about indiscriminately killing people. That accusation is another emotional diversion. Condemning unlawful force is perfectly fine. What I reject is your habit of declaring every disputed confrontation to be “murder,” condemning the entire agency and then accusing anyone who asks for context of enjoying bloodshed.

Since you compared ICE to SARS, I have been asking you, so answer this honestly: would you advise your friends or relatives to physically follow SARS officers around, obstruct their operations, surround them or place themselves in confrontations involving vehicles and armed officers? Obviously not.

Even when you distrust law-enforcement officers, deliberately inserting yourself into a volatile operation can endanger you, and everyone involved in danger. It is why my prediction is correct. To be clear, it does not automatically justify whatever force the officers use, but it means the context cannot simply be erased.

Rene Good was not randomly shot inside her home or while peacefully driving to work. She was present she was following ICE and harassing them. If someone did that against SARS you'll call them mad.

Alex Pretti was also not an uninvolved passerby. He was participating in an anti-enforcement protest and became involved in a confrontation with federal officers.

Like I said, his death was a sad mistake when his gun went off in commotion. I am not saying their deaths should be celebrated or ignored. I am saying you cannot automatically label every officer a murderer while pretending the actions of protesters, obstructors or attackers are irrelevant.

How many times have you independently condemned people attacking ICE officers, trying to ram them, firebombing facilities, shooting at enforcement buildings or physically obstructing operations?

There have been serious attacks on ICE personnel and facilities, yet your outrage appears almost entirely one-directional.

Allow ICE yo perform their work. Where an officer unlawfully uses force, investigate and prosecute that officer. Where someone attacks or obstructs officers, investigate and prosecute that person too. The same standard should apply to everyone.

In the face of all the lies you people have been caught in, you’re still shamelessly lying.

Seriously pathetic and miserable.

Michael Byrd saw Ashley Bobbit entering through the broken window and shot her. He knew there were Capitol Police behind her, .No warning ,no disabling shot ,he shot her in the neck to kill her. He was not charged at least with reckless endangerment. Theybsaid his actions saved house members and others .

Renee Good was shot as she apes towards an ICE agent. Almost zero time for the agent to tract . Yiu call it murder. The agent saved his life and possibly others.

See the difference. Two tiered justice.

Sounds like Trump will have a hissy fit and call them fake news.
Fox News:

BREAKING: The Pentagon is confronting a growing reality after months of fighting in Iran.

America’s stockpile of missile defense interceptors is shrinking so much that military planners are weighing whether they can continue the current cycle of limited retaliatory strikes.

Iran’s strategy appears to be targeting U.S. bases, forcing the U.S. to deplete its advanced missile defense interceptors, such as Patriot and THAAD systems, and compelling the Pentagon to accept greater risk in defending U.S. troops as the conflict drags on. Iran appears to believe this is its best hope of outlasting the U.S. military.

But why must an officer first die before you condemn people shooting at facilities, attempting to kill officers, using vehicles against them or deliberately interfering with volatile enforcement operations, are you serious? I am asking them not to endanger their lives, you are asking them to do so. That is the same thing you did with Iran, calling people who go to gather at a potential target brave. When they are killed, you will still be the one to say innocent people were killed, blah blah blah. But you never cared about their safety before they were killed.

People attacked the Prairieland ICE detention facility with weapons and explosives. A responding police officer was shot in the neck, and correctional officers were also targeted. Should that not concern you simply because the officer survived?

Your argument is like saying that attempted violence does not matter until someone succeeds in killing an ICE officer. That is not a reasonable at all. We do not wait until a victim dies before condemning attempted murder or dangerous conduct.

This part
Black teen kills white teen in self defense—gets 35 YEARS in prison

White adult kills two Black adults while driving 100mph in a 45—gets 6 MONTHS in jail.

This is just another example of systemic white supremacy in our criminal injustice system. A reminder that a system cannot fail those it was never meant to protect.

Bottom Line Is This.

It doesn’t actually matter if you think Karmelo Anthony acted in self defense or not.

Whatever you think of the Karmelo Anthony trial, if you think it was just, you should be calling for at minimum 2X his sentence for an adult who killed two people. But funny how those happy about the Karmelo Anthony conviction are silent on Jason Anthony Scott conviction of only 6 months for a double murder.

Also notice how media headlines mention Karmelo Anthony by name and don’t mention that he is a child, but simply label Jason Anthony Scott as a “19-year-old” and don’t mention his name. This is deliberate. This is how media further enables white supremacy.

I think the crimes are different. Involuntary manslaughter for Jason the white teen, while homicide is for Karmelo. They carry different sentences.

Emotions aside as the law is not emotional, who carries a knife to a public sports event? And what kind of "self defence" will warrant you stabbing someone in the chest in a very public area?

The law is not emotional.

Does 6 months sound like a fair amount of time for taking two lives in a deliberate speeding crime?

Speeding is a choice. And he made the choice to go that fast. One can argue that they do not deserve the same sentence. That’s a valid argument. But the difference is very ludicrous.

6 months for 2 lives and 35 years for one.

The law is not emotional but this was clearly an emotional sentencing based on the hype surrounding the case
Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by cococandy(f): 2:26am On Aug 02
A lot of times, I’ve noticed black people in order not appear biased like to err on the side of “well the law is the law” and every punishment dished out in a court room must be fair. But We have seen how many cops lie and innocent people get locked up unless someone else comes forward with exonerating evidence.

There are so many minorities still locked up till today (for decades) due to marijuana and similar minor drug offenses. While rich white kids party had on hard drugs and own marijuana dispensaries.

You can’t objectively and logically explain away ingrained racism. The people doing the policing and sentencing are emotional in their hate and dislike for minorities. Shrugging and accepting it is not going to make them think better of non-white people.

Every single day there’s a new case of debunking lies told by police in their interactions and arrest of minorities. The judges are not exempt from the bias either. Studies have shown minorities get harsher sentences for similar offenses.

So while one may want to apply logic and emotional detachment in the understanding of justice and law enforcement in America, the enforcers are very much emotional in how they go about it.

They act scared for no reason. They shoot unprovoked. They get agitated and physically aggressive at unarmed people at the slightest sign of disrespect. These are not logical people. They are hyper negatively emotional and giving them grace won’t make anyone who’s a minority exempt.

The charges are different yes but they both carry maximum penalties.

Why was the black man given the maximum penalty while the white man given the minimum when both found guilty of their charges? Keep in mind that the black man killed one while the white man killed two.

Don't stress yourself. It is unfortunate that many Nigerians are ignorant or unexposed to racism or international politics.

Many people in Nigeria do not fully understand racism until they travel out of their country.

Secondly, right wing media is loud. Many get exposed quickly to propaganda before the truth.

Also, colonial people have been dividing black people to conquer them. They like to pit Africans against African Americans. So when racist things are happening to African Americans, the Africans won't see it as something that can happen to them also
Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by cococandy(f): 4:12am On Aug 02
This part in bold. You won’t believe what some friends and family back home tell me about what’s happening in America whenever we chitchat.

Me I’m like where?😩. They’re even the ones telling me what my kids’ teachers are teaching them in school 🤣

And how “godly people” are harassed in the streets to “believe in the liberal agenda“. I blame the missionaries. They’re the ones carrying the right wing narrative far and wide.

Also hindsight is 20:20, so I won’t really pretend like I don’t understand the mindset. It starts really young and gets ingrained in us from birth, church etc.

I used to argue with a former Nairalander about stuff like this, even though she had been in the US years before I even dreamed of traveling.

I was never conservative but I had that moral superiority Africans have towards African Americans (aka AKATA) and I couldn’t believe anyone was saying the truth outside of what white people said.

How does one know that they’re better than a whole group of people without ever interacting or living amongst them? Yet I and many others held tightly onto that indoctrination. Oh well. We grow and learn.

Wow...

Whether an ICE officer has been killed is irrelevant to shooting at officers, attempting to kill them, firebombing facilities, or deliberately creating dangerous confrontations should be condemned. Again, attempted murder does not suddenly become acceptable because the victim survived. This is not an eye-for-an-eye test. You are making it sound like it would be okay for ICE to kill anyone because an officer is killed. No ICE officer should be killed, and ICE should not wait for an officer to be killed before they put down any threat to their lives.

Armed attackers attempted to lure officers outside, and a responding police officer was shot in the neck. The fact that he survived does not make the attack insignificant. So why is it difficult for you to condemn it without first asking whether an ICE officer died? Why are you in support of people putting themselves in danger?

Citizens or immigrants, be they legal or illegal, dying during enforcement operations raises a separate question: was the force legally justified? Every fatal incident should be investigated independently, and any officer who acted unlawfully should be prosecuted. But as I said about Renne and Alex, no one should be arguing whether the shooting is justified or not, so several deaths do not, by themselves, establish your claim that ICE is indiscriminately killing people or is on a “killing spree.”

Your comparison with Iran is you reaching, as usual. When Iran killed at least 40k people, we did not hear anything from you. ICE had one or two incidents; suddenly they are the same as Iran. The mere fact that government agents were involved in deaths does not make every situation identical. The relevant questions are what happened, whether an imminent threat existed, whether the force was proportionate, and whether the officers acted lawfully. Iran is hanging people today; who did ICE hang?
