Yes, the road was not a necessity. Its a legacy project to burnish Tinubu's electoral chances of winning the next election He plans to win primarily based on his performance. I did not say there would be no mago mago, but electoral fraud alone can not help him hold on to power. |

All this clowns saying Duke have their vote even if they know he won't win Una head dey shake, nobody asked you who your vote is for, if you can't vote the obvious opposition party which is NDC to upset this vampiric APC then just stay indoors instead of wasting your vote and time. If the only thing OK will change in this country is reckless spending and looting then that is a huge miracle that should be fought for tooth and nail. |

EponObi: dettolgel:His failed experience is the reason he shouldn't even criticise the govt without saying the solutions, yet, he wants to contest. I will rather vote for someone who is still doing what he is getting right, than one whonis talking from his failure and even has refused to give solutions. Let him get away. He has absolutely nothing to offer. All of them. Tinubu himself has nothing more to offer apart from this road. So, they are all empty. |

No one is allowed to disagree with the 'lord's doing. You automatically become an Obidient and a Biafran when you point out the dumb policies and projects of this government; after all, how can you even know the right thing when you are from the wrong tribe? This particular road costs at least 4 times the last National budget under Jonathan's regime, and it was awarded without proper procurement policy being followed. It was touted as the best thing in heaven and on earth despite the clear futility of such a white elephant project which was just undertaken to boost the value of Eko Atlantic. The contractor is also closely related to the president, but I won't speak for fear of being converted to an Igbo Obidient. Buhari was a tribalist and hugely incompetent; therefore, a standard of governance has been set by his performance and nobody should dare call out the current government. Hail the emperor. The perfect leader of men. I stand firmly on your mandate, sir treesun: |

Duke should be more intelligent than this. Things like this should be left for lamba king. Nigeria should not be afraid to demand that their leaders do more and not tell them that they are doing too much. If an ex-governor of Cross Rivers State is condemning a project coming to his state whereas no Northerner is condemning the Badagry-Sokoto highway or the railway going to Niger, then, as many others have said, there is something fundamentally wrong with Southerners. During the time of Amaechi, a proposal was sent before Saraki led National Assembly for loans for railway development; there was an uproar accros the nation. Fayose even went as far as going to China to try and convince them not to grant the PPP loan. By the time the uproar was over, the Northerners had ensured that the railways in their region was not cancelled, while clowns like Abaribe ensured that the ones in the South East were not approved. Today, the Northerners have at least one ongoing rail project running through Kano-Kastina-Maradi South South has been crying poor infrastructural development since time immemorial but now the only drop in the ocean, a respected person like Duke is join clowns to condemn it. This is really shameful |

| Re: Nigeria Cannot Afford The Lagos- Calabar Highway; - Donald Duke by 9jatriot(m): 9:43am On Aug 05 |
Roads are not like houses that if you do not finish it, you cannot use it. The 1%, 5%, 10% of 50% that gets completed immediately becomes available for use, so whether he finishes it in 8 years or not, the sections that have been completed are going to be available for Nigerians to use. carzeem1: |

Politicians and deceit!! A road that has already reached Ogun, with soil works now taking place in Ondo. Existing roads should be fixed, but building new roads that bypasses inner towns and cities is ambitious, shows foresight and good planning. If say we fixed existing roads, I would still do Lagos to Ondo in 2-3 hours. With coastal lane, I can do Lagos to Ondo in 30 mins. Lagos to Delta might mean 1.5 to 2 hours stretch. Don’t we wanna enjoy good things in Nigeria? This man is building roads, upgrading our seaports and airports and we are still complaining? I can basically be living in Ondo, and be doing daily commute to Lagos. You decongest Lagos, and also spread fortunes to adjoining states. I don’t blame Donald Duke. We are not used to these kinds of leadership foresight, so we react crazily to it, instead of embracing it. We all know Arise News is anti APC but why bring someone to your show, and not challenge him with facts, that the road has gone beyond Epe, and has reached Ogun, and that another section is beginning from Calabar? |

mrvitalis:Success is not meant for fainted spirit who refused to challenge status quo. Tinubu dear Atlantic city and leki trade free zone as governor, 20 years later, we are starting seeing result. One of the African greatest problem is inability to see and prepare for long term. Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway will take long time but it will be completed and become greatest economy hub of the country. Several sea port and airport will be situated along that route in the future. ⁸ |

treesun:I think Donald Duke should be enlightened enough to know better. The road will be a great achievement for the nation if it can be completed. That is one of the major reasons I want Tinubu to continue. All other politicians talk as if they wouldn't touch Tinubu's administrative initiatives – subsidy removal, unified forex, the Lagos–Calabar and Sokoto–Badagry roads, NELFUND, more funds for states and LGAs, ASUU resolution, oil industry interventions, etc. – if elected. The question for Donald Duke is: does he think Cross River State could afford and sustain Tinapa when he embarked on it as governor? I wept the last time I heard about the state of his Tinapa. We need a leader who will stretch and touch every aspect of governance – not one who will choose power and neglect roads, healthcare, and so on; or one who will save money and refuse to conduct LGA elections, or allow ASUU and medical officers' strikes to linger. |

success1smyn:Point of correction !!! Peter Obi was the first to publicly criticize the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road project, mainly because of the large amount of money involved. He raised the concern that Nigeria should not rush to build a new road while many existing federal roads to the South–South are in a terrible state and urgently need attention. Rather than address his questions, APC supporters attacked him personally for holding the government accountable and chose to trade insults instead of responding to the issue. Today, travel times have become worse: it now takes about 7 hours for a vehicle to move from Benin City to Yenagoa (instead of about 3 hours), and it takes about 6 hours from Benin to Okene (instead of the expected 3 hours). These delays highlight how badly many roads have been neglected. Many federal roads across Nigeria—especially in the South–South and South–East—are in deplorable condition and require urgent repair. Yet, Minister David Umahi has gone ahead to propose 20 new roads for federal approval, even though about 80% of existing federal roads are reportedly in bad shape, with some areas no longer accessible. That is why I describe this as a clear case of misplaced priorities by the Federal Government. |
