I officially give up on Nigerian football, that hope will only be salvaged if and hopefully if Gusau and his board of bandits are kicked out in this September's NFF election...I'll be stupid to do another tenure of Gusau, God forbid bas thing.

Good luck to those who still care.
I'm with you on this one.

70% of this current falcons squad are from the East. Are the Falcons doing any better?
70% coming from the east isn't the case, how was the coach appointed?

Once again you are going tribal towards your unimageable enemies. The 70 per cent you are quoting tells me you have not even done your research before making those statements. I was born and currently reside in America, and I am pan-African because I am fully aware of how the world sees us. Once you leave the shore of Nigeria, everybody sees you as a Nigerian. Once you leave the shores of Africa, everybody sees you as black, and this is why una tribalism is really a confirmation of lack of exposure and lack of travelling.

I don't give a Bleep if the best players in the country are from Maduigury as long as they are truly the best legs that we have. The world is run on data points and statistics. Every statistical analysis done will tell you the regions or places where the best talented Nigerian players historically come from. If you go and run your statistical analysis of Nigerian youth teams that have done very well at global competitions, you will tend to see data points pointing you towards the enclaves these players come from. Statistical analysis will tell you there is a greater probability of you finding quality players in Owerri, Enugu, Benin, Asaba, Kaduna or Jos than Madugiri, Yola or Damaturu. This is not tribalism; it is just data points. When I see a Nigerian youth team without players from that enclave dominating the names on the list, you can see why when they don't perform, it raises the question of how they were selected.

Would have agreed with you but we have had considerable success with Nigerian coaches in our teams. The only tournament we have not won with a nigerian coach is the olympics. Every other tournament a nigerian coach has delivered for us.
EElopa:
Stop hiring these Nigerian coaches. They are usually very tribalistic and regional. I would rather the NFF go and hire a Black African coach than a local Nigerian coach. Go and hire a foreign coach and let him scout for talents all over the country. Nigerians, especially those born in Nigeria, are the most tribalistic set of people you will find anywhere on earth. Once I see the lists of players on any youth Nigerian team, I can tell you the region the coach came from.

tribalism/racism is everywhere. what we need is a government of unity. And that cannot happen until we have one language that unifies us amongst other policies that makes Nigerians have a sense of national pride. As long as the imperialists keep running the country (whether you want to see if for what it REALLY is or not), we will continue in our downward trajectory. The common people must come together and weed out those slave masters that keep using our tribal differences to deceive us. it is a long established playbook by their master -- divide and conquer.

Else, remain conquered

Na Nigeria I they oh and trust me, these failings will affect Gusau and his gang.
The presidency is already interested in the upcoming NFF election and they won't be backing him, same way they got involved in the recently concluded Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) election and their preferred candidate won. Tinubu nor be Buhari that never knew what was happening around him
Is Tinubu leadership any better that we should trust them?

Not related;
There should be a policy to put an age limit to those who are allowed to be elected into an important offices like that of the president and NFF,anybody obove 60-65 years should not be allowed, we are not America or Europe.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 10:14pm On Aug 09
The U20 Flying Eagles could not fly in the end. Got outclassed by a better BFA team who won 6-1 across 2 games.

I never rated Maikaba's tactical approaches and even admitted we got lucky vs CIV. I also felt prior to the U20 WafuB that he should have done more in terms of proper scouting.

The only positives are fine raw talents like Muiz Adeleke, Abdou Agbejoye & maybe a few more hopefully growing into true bonafide star ballers but this is indeed an U20 Generation wasted coz there would be no Afcon and no World cup for the first time since 2017.

Sad. But a sharp reminder on how Gusau and co missed out on the 2026 WC Ticket.

I hope the Golden Eaglets dont suffer the same fate as they have in the past 3 attempts since 2020/21, 2022/2023, 2024/2025.

September NFF Elections is crucial. Very crucial to the future of Nigerian football across all levels, Male and female.

We need an NFF who wont feed us small positives only but give us structure and purpose... and a truly functional NFF Technical department coz Eguavoen and co are a joke.

They should not have joined what supposed to be three countries into one.

The common people are too busy fighting for what to eat, because they are crippled by hardship and poverty.

But there are few who can actually lead this country out of this mess, but they can never be allowed to rule by those powerful corrupt people in control.

In functional climes, these types of records get you a vote of displeasure from the executives and a sure looming failure if he contests any elections but being in Nigeria it means nothing because the electorate are not known for voting based on track record but who fulfils their immediate greedy need. We exist in a low trust society that you cant even vote for someone based on potential because the leaders we believed and trusted turned out to be liars and untrustworthy. So far Gusau keeps on satisfying the necessary people he will win the election. This country never getting better is a reality i have come to terms with anyways.
The super eagles failed to qualify for two consecutive world cups, got to an afcon final and semi final in six years without winning anything and nothing happened. Heaven wont fall if the falcons miss one world cup tournament. Perhaps this should usher out the old legs. Serve as a farewell for them. They have enriched theirselves with atleast 2 WAFCON gold medals. Its time for us to build a new core of female football team. The sensible thing to do is for them to declare their retirement once the playoff tournament is done but im not holding my breath on that.

Oraro Lucky and Odinaka are good players.

The essence of Under age team is to expose and market your best players to the world.

Winning or going to world cup are crucial but if at the end doesn't produce "real talents", it is pure waste of time and money.

Who will make this policy? Certainly not the government, because of FIFA sanctions against government interference. The NFF has structured everything to favour itself.
In 2022, the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) went to court to challenge the voting structure, where state FA chairmen have a majority of the votes, about 37 out of 54. This favours the incumbent because the state FA chairmen are under the leadership of the NFF.
The Buhari government even intervened in the electoral clauses that favoured incumbent officials, calling for amendments to allow players, coaches, and referees to be included among those eligible to vote.

True. But if we continue using only small positives like Oraro, Odinaka, Muiz and Agbejoye as consolation then the NFF would keep getting away with gross incompetence.

Fair enough, this is the first time since 2017 that we would miss an U20 WC but then something has to change in the NFF.... for the best.

The Nigerian law makers should make it that anyone above certain age should not be allowed to contest for presidential election, Tinubu and Atiku set for instance.

NFF on their statutes, there should be a clause to prevent the NFF chairman from being re-elected,
any NFF chairman that failed in some of these should not be reelected.
1. Failure to qualify Super Eagles to the world cup. (this one is a must)
2. Failure to qualify our U17 team to the WC
3. Failure to qualify our U20 team to the WC
4. Failure to qualify our U23 team to the Olympic
5. Failure to qualify super falcons to the WC
6. Failure to qualify super falcons to the Olympics

Any chairman that fails to deliver at least 3 out these 6 conditions including the Super Eagles WC qualification ticket is not worthy of another tenure.

They are ruining our football. I just got off the phone with a very good friend of mine who used to be very passionate about Nigerian football, and he could not care about Nigerian football anymore; he is now a fully USMNT and USWNT fan. He said he gave up on Nigerian football when Salisu Yusuf was caught on camera collecting bribes, and the NFF shrugged off the public outcry and still rapidly reinstated him to the top national coaching position. He is still amazed at why I am still wasting my time supporting a team that NFF uses as a marketing tool. His point was they will never hire a coach that will do the right thing or be competent; they will only hire business partners that they will parade as coaches. Before the contract is even signed, player allocations are established. Mavlon FC is an academy secretly owned by the NFF officials, and this academy is now the main supplier of youth players to our youth national teams.

I've recently reduced my time on this thread due to the direction our football has taken in recent years. I feel vindicated by this recent elimination. Until Gusau and Co. pack their bags from the glasshouse, I won't be expending anymore energy on Nigerian football.

We don't truly understand how truly bad our football situation is, the talent pool from the youth structure has literally collapsed which invariably means the quality of talents that we should be transitioning to the senior national team now looks hopeless. It's particularly sad when you see other African nations that were far behind us some years ago now catching up and closing the gap, even a strife-torn nation like Burkina Faso with one of the poorest infrastructures in the world are somehow getting it right with their youth teams, now we are seeing lots of Burkinabe players getting top moves to Europe...currently we have an aging senior national team with the best of the core already in their late 20's...which players do we have ready to replace them? are we going to keep hoping and begging dual nationals to finally consider us when they are done waiting on the nations of their birth until they are in their late 20's before they remember they can switch to play for us?

Gusau and Pinnick along with their henchmen have finally destroyed our football, it will take a very long time to recover from this mess even if and when we finally get in the true football minds and technorats to salvage our football woes. Where do we go from here? it has now become a sadly anomalous norm for us not to qualify for major tournaments at all levels under this dispensation- all we do is rant online, write long essays about what we should be doing right blah blah blah, and then few days later we all shrug off the football disappointments and move on to the latest trending gossips and topics; a trope that has come to characterize the typical Nigerian psyche of moving on fast from every failure.

Honestly I'm tired, I have just like millions of other passionate Nigerians have given everything we could into holding onto some fabric of sanity left in that country that gave us a sense of unity, patriotism and happiness...and football was the ONLY intangible that gave us that sense of solidarity, now our football has been killed and buried by gross incompetence...what the fu*k is left to feel Nigerian about?

I'm done jare.

If we fail to qualify for 2030 world cup, some people will behave as if they are suprised. Our talent factory; the youth teams, have been hijacked by bigots and corrupt business men. We are going to rely on Europe rejects to qualify for world cup and win the AFCON.

Yeah but the bulk of the blame should be on Nnadozie's door-mouth, she was awful in this tournament, disappointing, least to say, we expected more from her caliber of person and I think she had become complacent due to lack of competition in her position, she conceded 4 cheap goals

Abiodun was a warrior today, she must be commended

Cameroon didn't outplay us, we dominated the game but that goal was her fault, her positioning was wrong, getting her hand to the ball showed if she had positioned rightly she would have kept the ball out

Esther was abysmal and horrible, she spurned our chance of equalizing.

Now, from here, where do we go?
